My boyfriend and I booked a room at the Currier’s House last minute this past weekend. We were pleasantly surprised how wonderful everything was at the Currier House. Our room was clean, tidy and comfortable. Nancy was very welcoming and her dog Rufus was so sweet. The breakfast on Sunday morning that Nancy prepared was DELISH. She cooked us a super tasty vegetable frittata and had put together a beautiful fruit bowl. The other guests staying there recommended we hike up Mt. Monodnack while in the area and it was so worth it, and right down the road! Our experience was great, and next time we find ourselves in Jaffrey, New Hampshire we hope to stay there again :)

I really want to give the Currier’s House a better review. My boyfriend had contacted Nancy over a month prior to staying in order to reserve the Sunny Room. He also called multiple times the day prior and the day of our stay(with no answer) in order to verify our reservation. After a long day of hiking we arrived at the Currier’s House around 5pm and Nancy asked who we were, and then stated that she didn’t think we were going to show up and had given our room away to a European couple who had called just a few hours prior. We still received a room but it was much smaller than the one we had requested a month ago, and were greatly disappointed. The stay was cozy, however, and Nancy was polite and made us a good breakfast. I suppose I just wish that we had received the room we had requested and it had not been given away to a couple who called spontaneously the day of.

My son and I stayed at the Currier House this past weekend for a hairbrained 3am hike to Mt. Monadnock to see the comet ISON. Innkeeper Nancy didn’t bat an eyelash at our request to slip out in the middle of the night for a hike, and was really warm and welcoming. The inn is quaint and spotlessly clean. On our return at 7am Nancy made us a delicious full breakfast, complete with awesome coffee(I’m picky about coffee… but hers was strong and tasty). Currier House is just 10 minutes from Monadnock and so a perfect jumping off point for a weekend of hiking.

Nancy Lloyd was very helpful, giving me guidance as to the best jogging loop for a 40-minute run and describing the best restaurants and shops nearby. She also cooked excellent breakfasts which varied so that she didn’t repeat anything during a stay of several days, and she offered to make extra whenever I finished what she had prepared. Nancy had useful tips about where to attend a concert and other cultural events. I would strongly recommend the Sunny Room which is spacious and comfortable.
