My husband & I went to Trad’s Saturday afternoon to select a tree for our front yard. I wanted an edible variety & had called Friday to see if & what they had available. My husband preferred something besides citrus, so I asked specifically for those options. The lady on the phone said she would have one of the floor guys check it out & that she would call me back. Within 10 minutes, she phoned & gave me the rundown: what a variety of options she rattled off! From several varieties of peaches, plums, pears & even apples, I was impressed & told her we’d be by! When we arrived, a young man named Dustin showed us to the back where the«edibles» are. Again, I was floored by the selection. My husband and I hummed and hawed about which tree to bring home, all the while Dustin patiently answering our questions to the best of his ability. We were between a sun racer nectarine and an Arbequina olive tree. Hubby made the final decision on the medium-sized potted nectarine. There was also an extra large size of the same nectarine variety without a price tag, but, seeing other trees in similar sized pots, we figured that size had to be more expensive. Dustin brought it up to the main building for us and when the cashier announced the $ 90+ total, my husband and I were surprised. Even in the medium– sized pot? Are you sure that price wasn’t for the large nectarine? But it was the same price, no matter the size. Well since we weren’t willing to spend that much, the decision was made easy for us: it was going to be the arbequina olive(which was a more modest $ 45.) So sweet Dustin returned the nectarine and came back with our olive tree. Despite the minor surprise confusion over pricing, Trad’s is an awesome nursery. The staff are the best – knowledgable, willing to help and patient. :)

Over the summer I moved my lawn care from Scott’s to Trads and was the worst mistake. Below you will see before and after pics of how they have ruined my yard by mistreating army worms and fungus. We called a manager to come out named John who was beyond rude and arrogant after being a hour and a half late for the appointment who informed us it was due to bad irrigation. The entire yard is burnt from over application of weed control from a few weeks ago. My contract will be canceled immediately with them and Scott’s has assured me that they will rescue the yard from this mess. I am also contacting the BBB over the way I was treated by John. Unacceptable from a company that I pay $ 100 month for lawn care.

Trad’s has the friendliest, most knowledgeable, and most helpful staff. They do not hesitate to share their expertise. Anytime we come here, someone is always there to assist us and even walk with us as we choose plants for different types of planting spaces. Please ask them what grows best where to avoid gardening disappointments. They also have a good selection of pottery with better prices than Rockaway Garden Center although the latter has a better selection of succulents and veggies/herbs. Trad’s however beats every other nursery that I have been to in the variety of bamboos available and so far every plant that we have purchased here has thrived well. Check them out today and revamp your gardens to increase curb appeal and real estate value ;)

My first trip to Trad’s Nursery was this past weekend… after years of just driving by. I agree and have to point out, as some of the other Unilocalers have stated… this place is HUGE when you walk through the door! It’s looks tiny when you pull up front to park, but they have an amazing variety. I am just getting into the whole urban gardening thing… but noticed a lot of Florida native plants.(I like that! I hate spending money on plants that just won’t work with our heat.) We were approached quite a few times, but not in a hovering kind of way, they just wanted us to know they were available. Bought a few filler flowers for my containers, a gorgeous dwarf bougainvillea and a few herbs. Pricing is very reasonable as well. Looking forward to returning soon!

I am so disappointed with the service I received for lawn pest control. When initially talking to the salesman I was told that they could bring back my yard in trouble spots. After 5 months what I got was a lawn that was worse off than when they started. It is now full of weeds and bugs which I don’t understand since they were spraying for weeds and bugs. This was a vacant property that was for sale and not once did anyone contact me to say there was an issue. They did however have no problem talking to me each month to take my payment. When I brought all of this to their attention their reply was I should have told them there was a problem. My reply was that I had but they being the experts should have known there was a problem before I told them. When viewing their website I see that their company was founded on honesty, Service, knowledge, customer commitment and hard work. Evidently after the company was founded these things are no longer important. All I could do after Trads was fired from treating my yard was to resod areas that they had not taken care of. Oh and of course pay my final bill which they had no problem telling me was due regardless of what I had experienced. Save your money and please don’t use this service. You can do no worse than they did even if you don’t have any idea about what you are doing.

I had to leave a great review here if for nothing else but service attitude. I spent half an hour calling around Metro Jax for a specific plant. On someone’s advice I tried Trad’s and had to leave a message since there was no answer. Within 15 minutes not only did they call me back(long distance) but apologized for not having what I was looking for. The amazing part was they had already called their ‘competitors’ in town and told me where I find the item I was searching for. They could have easily said«Sorry and good luck» but went the extra mile. I don’t see myself visiting many other nurseries in the future. Great job, guys!

We first visited Trad’s a few years ago and have been back several times. They have a really impressive plant nursery [way bigger than you would imagine looking from the street] and I have to say their plants always look so much happier/healthier than the ones at Home Depot or wherever. The big thing though is the staff. Everyone here is a hardcore plant person and a wealth of information. You can get tips on what plants to choose and how to plant and take care of them just by chatting with the staff. The only danger is getting too much info, as really, these people are into it! They also have a really nice selection of pots, tools, fertilizer, etc. Watch out though, they only stock the pro stuff. There’s no $ 8 shovel here, they have the $ 100-you’ll-be-able-to-hand-it-down-to-your-grandchildren type tools. Its actually great to see a company have the integrity to only stock what they believe in, but keep it in mind. This is now the main place we’ll shop for lawn stuff. They’re locally owned, well informed and care about what they do. A little more than the chains price wise, but you definitely get more quality as well.
