The esquites, the tacos, the tortas are all perfect. The food truck is next to a club on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8 pm to 5 am. My wife and I stop by as often as we can, and we’ve ordered almost everything they offer. The esquites, which is a Mexican dish of buttered corn in a cup with mayonnaise and loads of cheese and lots of spices, are mouth watering. Each bite has the perfect amount of corn, butter, mayonnaise and chili powder. My wife craves the esquites. The taco options seem to vary. Their cabeza(beef face) tacos are superb. They’re flavorful and tender and pair perfectly with the cilantro and peppers and onions. The lengua(beef tongue) tacos are even more tender and have an almost sweeter flavor. All the tortas are amazing. The pierna torta is my favorite thing the truck has. It has a buttery and slightly crunchy toasted bread. The sandwich is the size of a large takeout box. It is stuffed with tender pork and lettuce and onions and an intense amount of cheese. The sandwich gushes out oils and flavorful fats.

The first time my friend took me to this taco truck I cried tears of joy. As a native Arizonan, I felt incredibly homesick having no REAL authentic place for Mexican food. This place is so authentic, it’s probably the owner’s second job because they only work on weekends. Or they perhaps bring in so much cash on the weekend that they don’t have to work the rest of the week. This place is so down home, you will be better off if you spoke Spanish or could at least read off the Spanish menu with your best accent. They only take cash. This place is such a field trip to Mexico, you would feel out of place being a non-Spanish speaking Latino. Their food is fresh, you can see the stems of cilantro they chopped themselves in the soups and esquite(what Taco Lu calls Mexican corn). If you eat there, there are a few places outside to eat or they can pack it to go for you. People will probably stare at you if you’re not a regular from the neighborhood, but it is so worth it. They have all sorts of varieties of tortas, quesadillas, street tacos as well as horchata and Coke and beverages bottled in Mexico. I can go on and on about this place. I asked the owner why she doesn’t open a restaurant. She said she couldn’t find reliable help to manage the influx of people. «Here,» she said in Spanish, «I’m my own high quality help.» Spoken like a woman with true work ethic and entrepreneurial prowess.
