Nice hole in the wall establishment that has been around for a long time. Sandwiches are average. Bread is often stale. People are friendly. Soups and salads may be a better route since the bread is not very appealing.

The Italian sub I had reminded me of the hoagie you would get as a kid in the school cafeteria: thick cold bread thin slices of meat, cheese, lettuce and tomato lots of mayo The tea isn’t very good, but the cookie was. The people there were very nice, but next time I’m in the area I’ll go around the corner to Gina’s.

This little deli is a 5 points landmark and hopefully will be here for many more years to come. Glamorous.no. Hi tech… absolutely not(including the little calculator for the sweetest order takers in town…“you want a lemon with that sweet tea, honey?” Tasty… you bet! The most charming thing about Richard’s is that every patron is treated like family. The service is so fast that by the time you’re through ordering… literally…your food is ready, bagged, and handed over with a smile and«see you soon». I love Richard’s. The food is simple to the extreme. Vegetable soup, grilled cheese, ham and cheese, bagel with cream cheese, scrambled eggs with biscuit. No fancy words to describe exactly what you get. I am a huge fan of the veggie rider. Simple American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, gobs of pickles, banana peppers, and mayo in a pita with salt and pepper. There’s also always some homemade massive brownies or a hot pot of soup, ready to be served in a styrofoam cup to go with crackers. The food is simple, tasty, inexpensive, and served with big, real, Southern Charm. If you’re looking to buy a homemade needlepoint craft or holiday ornament, there’s always a counter full of adorable crafts from the older local patrons in the nearby apartments and living centers. So cute, you just have to spend the 50 cents to get one. They open really early and close by 2 p.m. for breakfast and lunch. If you’re hungry, don’t have a whole lot of time, and don’t want anything fancy… this is a wonderful place to go. If you come back, they will remember, too!
