Rattles to Tassels Learning Center

Daycare FRUSTRATIONS!
Our daughter was only enrolled for three days at Rattles to Tassels before we withdrew her.
I had chosen Rattles to Tassels on Southside because it was practically NEXT door to my work and I could breast feed her on my break. This is VERY important to me. I was uneasy having her there (BESIDES the normal «Mom Anxiety») because there was always different employees rotating in and out of the infant room. There was no consistency. There was also NO lead teacher for me to talk to for the drop off in the morning. It seemed very unorganized. It also made me on edge how the director would yell and snap at the employees in front of everyone. It seemed disrespectful to the employees and did NOT give me peace of mind that the employees were competent in their job if their boss was yelling at them.
Two of the workers, Mesha and Erica were awesome and I really liked them.
As I was leaving on my second day there, the director asked me if I was going to be coming in everyday to feed my child. I said, «For the most part, yes.»
She then told me that sometimes the room would need to be closed to others due to staff meetings. Understandable. Then she said, «Sometimes we get health inspections and we’re only allowed to have certified employees with the children in the room. So you wouldn’t be able to be there for that either.»
Feeling like she was passive aggressively telling me, «We DON’T WANT you to come every day to feed your daughter on your lunch break.» I wanted to make sure I *wasn’t* jumping the gun and needed CLARITY. I asked «So you’re saying if you know you’ll have a inspection on Tuesday — don’t come then.»
«Precisely…but…we don’t always know when they’ll come… They just pop in unexpected – and sometimes they’re here for 2 – 4 hours at a time. We’re also expecting one in the next day or two… so… Yeah…»
I got a VERY bad vibe from that!!! What happened to that Open Door Policy they talked about earlier and that I could breast feed her? That was the MAIN reason why I picked the place. It wasn’t perfect BUT I could be with her for an hour every day.
We withdraw her and haven’t looked back since.

My son has been enrolled in Rattles to Tassels for 6 months now & I can tell he loves it. He has learned so much in so little time & I can truly see the difference in how he acts. His growth just from being around other children his age & older is shocking. He is talking more, & is more active with the people around him. They are helping me potty train which has been even easier since he gets to go day & night. The staff are great! The facility is very welcoming & from the very first time I walked in I was amazed. I felt that my child would be in a safe & secure environment & nothing has changed. It is very clean & organized. I love that I can call at any point & find out how my child is doing that day. Everyday I pick my son up I receive a daily report of his day so I don’t have to ask 50 questions about what he ate, when was the last time he was changed, etc. I have built a connection with the owner & I appreciate her for all the time & effort everyone puts into making my child have a great hands on learning experience. I am one of those over protective parents but I have no worries with where my child spends his time w/​o me at Rattles to Tassels. I am blessed to have found a facility that cares about my child almost as much as I do!
