I ended up coming here to have the back of my neck undercut, after getting frustrated by barber shops saying they only accept male clients. I made an appointment online late at night, and someone called me the next day to follow up. I arrived for my appointment on time and only had to wait about 5 minutes. Nowadays when you go to a salon they will pour mimosas for you, give you head/neck massages, offer magazines to read, etc. Keep in mind that this place is not a traditional salon, it is a beauty school that happens to have a salon inside, so you won’t get any of those«luxuries.» You also won’t pay $ 100+ for a haircut, so I’m personally willing to skip the free mimosas. Because everyone here is in different stages of learning, I would recommend bringing a photo of the style you want, even if YOU think it’s something simple/easy. My stylist had never done an undercut before, but asked plenty of questions and stopped to get a team leader’s input a couple of times as well as glance at the photo I had on my phone. I also had my hair shampooed and blow-dried(which always takes forever due to my thick hair). The whole process took a lot longer than a normal salon visit, but since they are students I was kind of expecting that. My stylist was a little rough with the brush and blow-drier but fortunately my scalp is not too sensitive so it wasn’t a big deal. Overall she did a great job and I got the cut I was hoping for. I would recommend coming here if you’re patient, want a cheap haircut($ 15-$ 20), and aren’t expecting the«royal treatment.»

BEWARE! They will mess your hair up!!! The only time you should go here is if you want a trim and blow dry because that’s the ONLY thing they know how to do!!! It’s cheap for a wash+cut+blow dry, $ 15. But if you want anything other than a trim you might as well get more use out of burning that $ 15. I have given this place about 4 chances and they have disappointed every time. This was my last time, wouldn’t go back even if someone paid me. Even with pictures, and multiple explanations, they can’t even do layers in your hair, not layers throughout or face framing layers. I can do a better job watching a YouTube video on how to add layers in your hair, and I actually have done a better job. So I will stick with that next time. Thought students who are going to a hair school would know at least a little better but I was wrong. Keep the length+add layers, is that so hard? Instead they’ll just chop off your hair and make it shorter.

This is literally the worst place I have ever gone to for hair service. I understand that these are students, so I don’t expect some grandiose experience here. However, I’m not sure what is even being taught here. Totally overpriced, especially for having someone who barely has any experience doing your hair. Did not get the color I wanted either. Try your luck with an actual salon. Just because they have the big name of «Paul Mitchell» slapped on their building, doesn’t mean you will leave satisfied.

WARNING! I do not recommend the Paul Mitchell School to anyone for any reason! This was my second time getting a basic wash, style, blow dry, and for an extra $ 5.00 flat iron(I did not ask for half an inch to be cut off of the back of my hair)! The first time I had my «hair styled» at the Paul Mitchell School I was told when I called that they didn’t take walk-ins, or do same day appointments, but that I would have to schedule my appointment for the next day if I still wanted to come in. I did as the receptionist suggested and came back the next day at my scheduled time, it took longer then at any regular salon, and I wasn’t even getting anything major done, but I still left looking great and only paid $ 15.00! If I was basing my review on that visit I would have given them 4 stars, but unfortunately my most recent visit this past Friday… which I’m pretty certain was my last visit was awful! First off I called to see if they could by chance get me in without an appointment, I kept getting transferred from one person to another until they finally asked if I could be there at 2:00pm. Lucky for me I was already at the Town Center finishing up with lunch. So when I got there I see this sign that says that they take walk-ins…(couldn’t they have just told me that on the phone?!), anyways I sat down for a minute and then was called back by the student who would be «styling» my hair. She had me sit at her station and explain what kind of problems I was having with my hair. I told her that I just wanted something different without having it chopped of, since it’s already kind of short for me bc I had just donated close to 30″ of my hair to locks of love this past October. I also specifically told her that I didn’t want her to put to much shine serum in my hair bc it can make it look very greasy as apposed to shiny if to much is added. So she took me over to their«wash house» to wash my hair, then brought me back to her chair, and that’s when things all started to go down hill! First off she started cutting the back of my hair(ok ok it will grow back), then after she finished blow drying my hair she added all of this sticky product to my hair and started to flat iron it. As soon as she gets done she says to her instructor that my hair is getting all staticky, so they both add a bunch of shine drops and flat iron it again! It looked nice for maybe 30 minutes, when I woke up the next morning I looked like I had stuck my head in a bowl of olive oil!!! Yuck!!! The worst part is that they don’t even stand by their own refund policy! All I asked was that they either fix the oil slick of a mess that they call a «hair style», or refund me my $ 20.00, but they wouldn’t do either one. All I can say is I would rather pay $ 100.00 for a simple wash and style any day, and know that if it’s not to my liking the next day that the salon will fix it, then get a crappy bargain and be ripped of with a mess any 5 year old would do for free!

I discovered Paul Mitchell School about a year ago. I have been going every 4 – 6 weeks ever since. I have naturally curly hair and the fact that I can get it washed, cut and blown straight for $ 15 is a steal. I’m not real adventurous, I usually just get a trim with my square long layers, since my hair curls it’s difficult to mess that up, not sure I would trust a student if I wanted a drastic change but I feel like my trim is good practice for them and a deal for me, the major bonus for me is getting my hair blown straight! They are always super friendly. I warn you to prepare for a long day, especially of you are getting color! I don’t mind this at all. However, if you are in a hurry and looking for a 15 minute cut or have a high strung personality you should go elsewhere, these are students. Realistically expect 2.5 hours for cut/style and 5 hours for cut/color/style. I feel the experience is pampering, I look at it as me time. The students are brimming with knowledge so they always talk about your hair/products/habits extensively before proceeding. Then they discuss with the learning leader(Cameron is amazing). Throughout the haircut and dry the teacher will stop by to check and often help. Many times I have had two people working on me at the same time and it just makes me feel even more pampered. I feel like it is a great value for the money and it is a great experience. NOT recommended for impatient or type«A «personality people but if you have a few hours to kill and have patience I definitely recommend Paul Mitchell School.

I wish you could leave negative stars but you can’t so one it is… I went the the school for a cut and color in Sept. 2012. I waited 30 minutes before a student came to get me. My original student forgot about the appointment and had walked out of the building. When she came back, the receptionist told her and she shrugged and gave a dirty look like she didn’t care at all and walked right by me. So, it took the 30 minutes I guess to get this worked out. So, the girl that came to get me seemed nice. We did the color first, after I had been talked in to getting, by a teacher, a $ 15 awapuhi treatment so that my hair would be conditioned and softer. We did that treatment, we did the color which I had 3 people working on. One was mixing, 2 were applying. a total of 3 different people mixed my color bowls and I was praying they were being consistent. a few minutes into the application, my headache started because they were pulling my hair so hard as it was getting tangled. The color came out black when I asked for a warm dark brown. I was told not to worry because it will fade. While one of the girls who worked on my hair so far was washing the color out she informed me that she had to go on break and someone else would be taking over the cut. I was really put off by this. I had to explain to 3 total people what i wanted done with my hair. When the person who was going to cut my hair came, the tangles in my hair were atrocious. Apparently the first person left too much dye and shampoo in my hair so we have to go again and wash it out. But even after washing that out, my hair was still a tangled mess. It felt like straw. It is so damaged from what they did. I have been getting my hair cut and colored professionally for years. I have never had it feeling like this. It doesn’t feel like my hair anymore. So much for the $ 15 awapuhi treatment! The teacher assured me it was from the finishing products even though it started at dye application. She said as soon as I washed it at home it would be fine again. Not so much :(So then comes the cut. I have long straight hair and only wanted my long layers trimmed. This seemed like the only part that went right. The girl who cut my hair did a good job on the cut but then she told me I looked tired. well, yeah I had been there for almost 5 hours and wasn’t even offered water. When it came to my bangs, she had to call the same teacher over again, Wendy is her name I believe, to cut my bangs. this was the 3rd person that i had to explain it to. I really thought the first girl understood but she was out to lunch. The teacher, cut my bangs, i hated them. I came home and cut them myself exactly how I wanted them. I was charged $ 65 and it was the worst money I have ever spent. I am so appalled by the way that whole thing went, I will tell everyone I know and come in contact with about this experience. I know I have already saved a few people from this place. Do NOT go here!!! You will regret it!

This is a tough one. You have to realize going into the salon you are going to have your hair cut by students and there is always a possibility that something can and in my case will go wrong. They state they are supervised, but don’t let that fool you. It isn’t constant supervision and even at the Phase 2 level these are students with no real experience. That being said, even though I thought we were crystal clear on the amount of hair we were going to cut and instructions from the supervisor, I ended up with way too much hair cut off and I didn’t realize until it was too late. The supervisor tried to correct what had already gone wrong but once your hair has been cut, it’s cut. Can’t glue it back on! Well I guess you can these day LOL. No choice but to continue with the cut at that rate. The color job was mediocre at best. What can I say other than I tried it. hair will grow back and color can be redone. I won’t be returning and just say that you get what you pay for. It’s a school and no matter what stage they are in, they are applying techniques they are learning in class on your hair. Buyer beware.

I have mixed feelings here. The first time I went in the service was mediocre. I realize that this is a school and the girl did a good job although it did take 5 hours. However I was happy enough to make another appointment for 6 weeks later. 6 weeks go by, I go into the salon with my card with my apt written down and was told they did not have my apt in the system. Ok so I was fit in the schedule with a wonderful stylist named Carolina. She did a wonderful job! She fixed the damaged done to my hair by a previous stylist and made me confident in her abilities. SO much so that I made an appointment 3 months in advance for her to do the highlighting of my hair for my wedding. So dec 20th rolls around and I call to confirm my appointment(learning from the last time). Not only was I told that I did not have an apt I was also told the stylist was booked all week. I am leaving for my wedding on Thursday at 5 in the morning. They showed no remorse at not having the schedule correct. I am upset and hurt and now freaking out about my hair b\c I trusted this stylist. I cannot recommend this unorganized salon to anyone.

You have to show up early on the day you would like to get your haircut/styled if you want to have a service here. They will not let you schedule an appointment unless you are an established client. Not great customer service. I guess they expect everyone to just sit around hoping to get a visit at their salon.
