I’m used to a huge warehouse full of paper, pens, computer products, and all sorts of stationary goodies, so when I learned that Office Depot was moving to a new location(a much smaller one, at that) I was almost devastated that I could no longer browse the 1500 types of pens in one small section. The reams of paper in their glorious array of colors would no longer entice me to just stare at the colors. I’m a bit of a stationary addict. Don’t judge me! Well, when they finally opened it took me a while to get to it, but when I did, I was amazed at the transformation and I really liked it! When you walk in you have computers to your left and tablets and headphones to your right. I love music, so I headed over to see the headphones displays. They also have phone cases and other phone accessories on that side, too. Tablets are immediately in the aisle entrance and you can play on most of them. Walk further inside, and you see that they have centralized their printing station where you can get all your copies, faxes, prints and signage made up. There are usually 3 associates there to help with those needs, and another two walking around helping with sales or stockroom duties. The aisles are beautifully stocked and organized and as you walk through each aisle you can see that they have majorly overhauled their original«throw everything from the back onto the salesfloor» habits and condensed everything so well that it doesn’t even overwhelm you to look for one item that they offer about 20 different types of. They no longer have their desk furniture on display. Just one desk with a catalog that you can order them from. In order to reduce costs of storage and prevent having to mark down the many display desks and chairs, I can see why they have adopted this new practice. They still do have about 5 computer chairs on display if you need to sit down and feel the comfort for your new office. Their pens and pencils are still a huge selection and have pretty much a row all to themselves, still and I will always look in there to see if they have any really good pens on sale(I love writing, you see) and I love a good deal. They did a great job making me feel like the selection they once offered in their huge warehouse is still at my fingertips as I walk through the much smaller area they are now located. I don’t feel claustrophobic either, so that means it’s not that small. Now I just have to remember to go print out that paperwork and send that fax instead of being distracted by their wonderful products in the store. Remind me, won’t ya?
