Excellent food and exceptional service by Amber. Will differently be back. Also a good happy hour.

Great service, had the spicy shrimp taco, not so spicy but big on flavor. Grapefruit I PA was crisp and yummie. Did I mention the staff? Friendly and attentive. Good local place to chill with friends.

Don’t order the jalapeño margarita — unless they’ve changed the recipe from my last visit. They put pickled jalapeños rather than fresh jalapeños. The flavor was confusing and just awful. Their burritos are boring. Overall, a subpar«hip» burrito joint you should stop by if you’re in the area, but not worth a detour.

Appetizers are just average. We had the fried corn which although unique is no different than other friend items such as fries or chips. The corn is buttery, salty and garnished with cojita cheese sprinkles and cilantro. But being that it’s fried, it’s definitely the overcooked squishy type of corn. Jalapeño poppers are the kind that make you wonder if they came from a freezer bag. Heavily breaded with a large about of yellow cheese inside. Skinny fries lead me to believe they’d be shoestring style but they were just average steak fries. A bit boring… maybe the cheese fries would be better. I’ve been here for lunch and much enjoyed their tacos, burritos, and margaritas. I’ll stick to that next time.

Let’s be honest, this place looks a little odd when you walk in. An entire motorcycle floating near the entrance, creepy dolls perched on tires hanging from the ceiling, and dark red paint on the wall leave a sort of New Orleans voodoo vibe. Our server was great and super nice, and the yuca fries are out of this world. The menu stinks of innuendo and the tequila selection is appallingly large, but the food is great and the portions are massive.

I have heard of this place so decided to head over after a streetfest in 5 Points. I just had their Mexican Street Corn which was really good. I never had corn like this and two of these could fill me up. Also had a few beers I never have had, Count Shakula which is a local craft brew and a Bourbon Ale. The server was attentive and checked on me at regular intervals. I like the décor and will head back to try more food. I heard the wet burrito is outstanding.

I’ve only stopped in once as I just moved to the area but I will def be making it a regular food spot. The mojo pork burrito was an explosion of flavors. I can’t even remember everything that came in it but I actually subbed out the corn for plantains because they’re my fave and boy that is going to me my go to at Lola’s for sure!

The yucca fries are my favorite thing to order here. They offer a large variety of unique dishes… not your typical mexican offering were all ingredients are the same except for how they are wrapped, that is rice, beans, cheese and choice of meat. I will miss this place when I move to the west coast

I REALLY want to like this place. It’s around the corner from me, the décor is cool and they have a kicka$$ jalapeño margarita… but why, why in the name of all that is holy is the service SO bad?! I can’t understand it. Every time I go there’s some issue. either I’m sitting around the bar for 15min before even being acknowledged despite the group of chatty servers in the corner(they never even look at you, no one greets you or says the bartender will be with me soon) which is stupid: Yeah, I get you’re a server and the bar isn’t your responsibility but you should at least demonstrate common courtsey. No wayer, no drink, no menu… nada. and this place was not packed(hence the servers standing by the register). Food is slow, cold and inaccurate every time I go… the last time the queso I got was grainy, cold and tasted so gross I just threw it out. The chimi steak had no seasoning and more than half was full of fat, no meat. Look at my check ins, I have tried this place several times and it has never gotten better. Chalks up to poor management: The bartender shouldn’t have to run around grabbing food for the bar, leaving it unattended for stretches of time while he waits for the incompetent chef. This may be my last time here; the best thing in this place are the baller margaritas the bartender makes… I’ll have make the drive somewhere twice as far… hopefully I can find a good jalapeño margarita elsewhere.

Had a killer time at Lola’s with a few drinks and some chips ‘n queso. The décor and atmosphere is really interesting(great Mexican — inspired artwork and a solid playlist). For something so simple, they really brought the flavor with the chips and queso; pretty sure it’s sprinkled with sage. Our server Jacob was awesome! My gf wasn’t sure what kind of marg she wanted, so he brought out one he thought she’d like and he nailed it. Delicious marg! All around killer server! Great place to spend an afternoon… or a night… or a morning… or seriously any amount of time.

Lola’s is an interesting little burrito joint in the riverside area that is a funky take on Mexican fare. Keep in mind that this definitely isn’t trying to be authentic Mexican food so what you’re getting is a crazy Frankenstein’s monster of deliciousness. They have everything from gator burritos(delicious!) to Cuban-style. I personally really like this interpretation of the genre but I can see that it certainly won’t be for everyone. The server we had was not very friendly and was kind of awkward but he brought us or food and drinks as needed so it wasn’t a big deal. Overall, Lola’s is a cool little place that is worth a try. I’ll be going back!

Eagerly went to Lola’s for lunch. Was ever so slightly disappointed after all the good reviews I read on Unilocal and the buzz I’d heard for a while. It’s wasn’t bad overall, just not super. For a weekday lunch, the place wasn’t busy, and there were plenty of open tables. Looking back, maybe that was a clue? Since I was at a Tex-Mex kind of place, I really wanted tacos. I’m sort of a taco nerd. The menu says their tacos are served in a flour tortilla, and I was VERY disappointed when our server told me they don’t have corn tortillas as an alternative. None. No corn tortillas in the whole place. I thought, how strange, and a total bummer since I can’t eat the flour ones… that revelation really only left me with nachos or a burger as my choices since everything else is either wrapped in a flour tortilla or fried in flour. So I ordered the Mucho Macho Nachos(with chicken instead of beef). I wasn’t impressed with the nachos. The menu says everything is made fresh to order, but honestly, it was clear that most of my dish was from a container. The chips weren’t fresh. The gauc may have been made in house, but it had no flavor — no lime, no cilantro, no salt, just avocado. The sour cream was cheap and gritty, not smooth and creamy. Chicken was cold. Jalapenos were from a can, not fresh. There were few olives, no cilantro, and no salsa. The whole thing was buried in queso. Topped with a scant smattering of tomatoes. My companion ordered the Shrimp But No Papers Burrito. She said it tasted good, but all I saw was black beans and little shrimp. I did not taste, so I can’t render an opinion on that item. The staff was very nice, and the highlight of the whole experience. And the place was clean, and the décor fun. My final impression for this visit was that the food was just a tiny touch nicer than regular fried bar food. Maybe it was just the kitchen staff that day, maybe they were a little our of sorts that day or new. I like to give a place two tries before I render a final opinion, but I probably won’t be back super soon. Next time I’ll definitely try the paella, which was my other choice(without flour), but I didn’t want that much food for lunch. Looking back, I should have tried that first! Well I have to say that my experience at Lola’s last night was tons better than all of my previous visits! Still no complimentary chips & salsa are offered, which is standard practice at all upstanding Mexican joints. ;) I’ll NEVER understand this, so – minus a star. We arrived by 6:15& were able to enjoy their happy hour. Do not miss this, folks! All of their«outrageous» margaritas(13 types!), domestic draft beers including Intuition & Bold City, house wines & single liquor well drinks are half off. I ordered the Wobo in Cobo margarita which was a bit on the sweet side for me.(I’ve also had the Jalepeño-ville & liked it much better, but my taste buds tend to lean towards savory/spicy.) We ordered a bowl of the Smoked Kernel Corn to start. Upon first bite, I was somewhat disappointed. It was tasty, but lacked any of the promised«smoke.» So I mentioned something to our server & she promptly brought out an additional small ramekin of much smokier corn that was more satisfying. But the real star of the night was the Sweet Plantain Lasagna. Holy moly! I had seen this on the menu before & vowed to try it, so this was the real reason we returned to Lola’s. It was such a delightful medley of flavors, from the savory meat mixture to the slight sweetness of the thinly sliced soft plantains… wow! It was accompanied by sides of perfectly seasoned black beans & «Lola rice» & was plenty to share with my husband. Although the burritos here leave us less than wowed, we’ll definitely be back for happy hour & that south of the border lasagna!

It’s a quaint little riverside restaurant with some pretty cool appeal. A burrito joint that also does burgers just has to be a win. I ordered the Los burger which has garlic cheddar grilled cheese sandwiches for buns, 2 pretty tasty ½ lb burger patties, fried yucca, and grilled onions. It sounded fantastic sans onions. Well I ordered it with no onions and proceeded to wait. In the meantime we ordered chips and salsa and I have to admit the salsa was pretty dang delicious. Ok, now the burger arrives and the waitress says«here’s the one with no onions» and proceeds to hand it to me while I’m looking at a heaping pile of onions literally dangling from every possible surface area of this burger. The waitress offers to take it back and have corrected but I wasn’t sitting and waiting for another 20 minutes while everyone else ate. This just left me with my only choice to scrape the onions and pray that they hadn’t contaminated every bite(which they had). Anyway, our server was attentive, the atmosphere was nice, the burger itself has a good flavor. Other than the onions(which is kind of a big deal to me) the place was pretty good. Maybe we’ll give it another try one day.

I think it’s funny I really enjoy the burgers at this burrito establishment. But I balance those burgers with a Mexican dip starter. While the concoction of guacamole, jalapeño cheese sauce, shredded cheese, black beans, jalapenos and salsa is tasty, I wish it had been larger. Next time I will stick with chips and salsa or chips and queso. The Los burger is good and contains all the things that will make you feel very full – grilled cheese sandwiches, pound of Angus meat, caramelized onions, yuca fries, cheese. It’s a beast and will be messy and you will wonder how to eat it. Split it with a friend, pick it up and don’t put it down until devoured. Eat the fries afterwards or take them home. Good food made even better when going with good people.

I was traveling down to Orlando and figured Jacksonville would be a great lunch spot. At the recommendation of one of my Unilocal friends, I ended up here. First off, I love the neighborhood this place is in. Where I live, they tear down these types of neighborhoods and build mega apartment complexes so it’s nice to see JAX preserve hoods like this. This place has a great craft beer selection which always is a winner in my book. I tried a few beers but my favorite was one called Count Shak-u-la. For food, I had the chips and salsa. The salsa was quite flavorful but needed a bit of heat. Thankfully, I found the bottle of Cholula which made it perfect. I also had 2 tacos, the spicy shrimp and the fish taco. The shrimp taco was ok but the fish taco was very flavorful. The staff was great here. Love the atmosphere with skulls for décor. I’ll definitely keep this in mind on my next trip to Florida.

Lola’s street corn is the best. The decorations in this place are amazing it goes perfectly with the restaurant’s theme. Now back to the Street corn, you got to try this, its the bomb. It has butter some cheese and cilantro, i think. The drinks at happy hour are some of the most affordable alcoholic beverages that has a kick to it. No weak drinks here. Happy Hour is Mon– Fri 3 – 7. Half off drinks and Intuition IPA $ 2. Worth it! The Lola gran margarita was off the chart. That will be my drink of choice and recommendation. So try it! The shrimp tacos were tasty. I added salsa to mine even though it came with some kinds sauce in it. I was pleasantly surprised when I found out I had a shrimp in each bite. Lola’s get very busy so get there early. Yes, Lola’s is on my return list!

I love Lola’s! Great prices and lots of options for those who are vegetarians or even vegans – everything is made to order. My favorites are the street corn, shrimp no papers burrito as a bowl, and the carnitas taco. Great atmosphere and staff. Recently Bryson served me and he was super friendly and fast. Not necessary to mention but he’s got a great smile ;) I’ll be back to Lola’s for sure!

Lola’s was just ok. It was one of the places I was super excited to try since moving to Riverside, but it wasn’t super impressive to me. Although I will note, I was with my girlfriend and some of her family, and they were all quite happy with their food. The restaurant itself is really cool — similar aesthetic to a Mellow Mushroom on the inside with some awesome painted car hoods. Since it can be difficult to track down a good place to watch football in Riverside, it was also nice to see the big screens at the bar. The service wasn’t bad per se, but just awkward. We’ve all had that time at a restaurant where the service was just kind of strange — they come by the SECOND you sit down and ask what you want to drink, giving you zero time to peruse the drink menu. That’s kind of what the service was like here — he seemed tuned in to showing up at the worst times. Like I said, he was nice and took care of everything one way or the other, but he just didn’t give us the time needed to make any decisions. Drinks were good — the amount of margaritas and mojitos available is enough to make me want to go back(especially for happy hour!) I had the soco margarita(yeah I know, I love Southern Comfort and I’m not afraid to admit it) and it was very good, same thing with my gf’s jalapeño margarita. Problem is, we got our next ones ‘loaded’. The menu doesn’t describe what that entails specifically, but it was a Coronita set up to gradually spill in to the margarita. There isn’t anything inherently wrong with this, but a lot of people don’t really like Coronaritas(and I am among them), and I assumed that without explanation ‘loaded’ just meant another shot of tequila. Not a huge deal now that I know, but for a first time customer it would be nice if they explained a bit more. Food wise, it was average. I got a chicken quesadilla which was good, but nothing to write home about. Lots of tasty cheese and cilantro but the chicken was kind of low grade. My girlfriend enjoyed her tacos but said they weren’t anything special either. In the end, I wish I had gotten a burger as those looked really good. It wasn’t terrible by any means, and I’ll be back for sure. But the first time I come back might be for happy hour margaritas while I decide if I want to eat there again.

Lola’s was a bit of a disappointment for me. I came for happy hour and the drinks were good — I got the chupa margarita which was delicious and fruity. The margs are 50% off during happy hour which is from 4−7pm Mon-Fri. Pros: — Happy hour drink deals(note: margaritas are big, not super strong, but still worth the happy hour price. I paid $ 3.25 for one.) — Yucca fries… BOMB. Great to share. Cons: — Service. My friend’s order didn’t seem to make it to the kitchen. The rest of our food all came out, and we assumed hers would come shortly: it didn’t. 15min later, we inquire and they take her order again. 5min later, they come back and ask her for her order… again. This is now the 3rd time we’ve placed the order, and the rest of us have cold food since we’ve been waiting for so long! Finally, the food comes out 30min after we all had gotten our food, and they didn’t even throw her a free drink or something while she waited. This wasn’t very well handled. Food: — As above: yucca fries AWESOME. — Tacos served on generic flour tortillas… Shrimp was decently flavored, carnitas could have used a little more flavor. Overall, I’d come back for happy hour but don’t expect top notch mexican food. Maybe I’ll try a burger next time.
