The food tastes day old and is generally uninspired. The serving time is horrendous. The space is tight. Delivery(twice we’ve tried) takes more than 2 hours. The only reason people go, I think, and the only reason I ever make it there is because I’ve been drinking. But don’t go on a Friday or Saturday night. Rowdy crowd, even worse service, and the food becomes more questionable. Went for breakfast at 730am once. The same problems abounded — poor service and even worse food.

Best place in town to wind up drunk after 2AM. Also a killer selection of beers from all over the world on tap.

Wow! I was very impressed! We finally had lunch here and we got our food in a timely manner. Our sever was very attentive to our table and refilling our drinking. He checked on us the perfect amount. We normally have to wait so long for anything but this time was different. VERY happy. The food was so good. Came out hot and fast! A++++ we will be back again very soon!

I’ve only heard of Kickbacks because I was going on a blind date and he suggested meeting there. The décor of the pub was pretty neat with some interesting stuff on the walls and interesting seating arrangements. The lighting was low so it was a little dark in the pub, which may be suitable for some, but it was a little too dark for me. We sat all the way in the back against the wall, in one of those narrow booths so that we would be sitting next to each other. Our waiter was really friendly, he asked us if it was our first time there and gave us some facts about the pub and the extensive craft beers that they have. I told him I like light, sweet and fruity, so he gave a suggestion of a craft beer I should try and I decided to go for it(unfortunately, I forgot what I ordered since my blind date paid the tab lol). It took both of us a while to figure out what we wanted to order, as their menu was full of interesting sandwiches, apps and such. They even have food like raman, Spaghetti-os, and alphabet soup! LOL! I decided to get the pork belly banh mi(of course the Asian in me lol), but was so bummed that I had to choose something else because they ran out of pork belly. I opted for the monte cristo instead with sweet potato fries. The monte cristo was pretty good, not too heavy and the raspberry jam that came with it complement it well. The sweet potato fries were crinkle cut and dusted with powdered sugar. They came with some cinnamon butter and it was pretty good with and without the butter. My blind date had the stuffed burger with regular fries, and wolfed his food down. I ended up taking home half of mine. I’m glad now that I discovered a new place to come back to and try the other things they have on their menu, such as the Krispy Kreme ground bacon burger. I’m still bummed to this day I didn’t get to try the pork belly banh mi, hopefully next time they’ll have plenty of pork belly! LOL. As for the blind date, he was a gentleman, but complaining about past blind dates throughout the whole night killed his chances for a second date.

This place is great for beer and drinks but I do not order food there anymore. They’re usually out of anything I want and have gotten my simple order wrong a couple times. Will defiantly go back though. The people are nice, atmosphere is great and the beer is delicious.

Our story begins as we almost walk by Kickbacks, completely unaware of the amazing experience that was waiting for us inside those beautiful brick walls. One of the friendly staff welcomed us in, and our evening was saved. As soon as we walked through the entranceway, I was floored. I was completely blown away by the sheer size and scope of the renovation that I had heard so much about. Judging strictly by the façade, you might never know the glory that lurks inside. We were immediately sat in a corner booth, and began the in-depth procedure that is the beer menu. It took us(read: me) at least fifteen minutes to even decide on my first, a Sixpoint Sensi. I drink beer, and often, so bars are not an unknown entity to me. I have never seen a beer list so thorough and exciting. Rare beers, special releases, every sought-after seasonal and regional beer that you could imagine or ask for, and even the full spectrum of domestics for the uninitiated. The owner, Steve Flores, has done an absolutely incredible job of creating the ultimate in beer exploration. The next step was to create a flight of beers, which you can make as many or as few selections as you’d like. I settled on ten of the finest and rarest beers they had to offer, at which point our server indicated that once I had made it through those ten samples, I could choose from two of the finest beers on the entire(200+) menu. Our server had mentioned something about a tour of a basement keg cellar of some sort, which I was very interested in. Ten samples later, Steve made his way over to our table and invited us on The Tour. We started in the original Kickbacks bar, going over the humble beginnings and initial tap selections, moving on to additional taps and then eventually the new bar, Goozlepipe. Beautiful new bar tops, a giant kettle with taps going all the way up, and then we moved onward to the fridges for all the kegs. A beautiful selection indeed. More rare, seasonal, and regional releases, kept ice cold besides those kept closer to room temperature. A short tour of the in-service kitchens, which were immaculate, led us downstairs. Now, I fully recognize that I am not writing this review on a beer website, however, I must make my points known. The Belgian-devoted bar that we were shown first was nothing if not lovingly and painstakingly created. Another 15 or so taps, and 15 – 20 more Belgian bottles combined with artifacts and décor taken directly from Belgian sites makes for as authentic an experience as one could ever hope for. After the Belgian bar, we were ushered into a land I will never forget, as long as I live. A beer cellar of the utmost quality, size, organization, and depth that, in this beer-lover’s opinion, does not exist anywhere else. One quick example: Steve has vintages of Dogfish Head 120 minute IPA dating back to 2006. So, next year, he will have a continuous 10-year vintage of one of the most incredible and complex beers in the United States, until the end of time. I really can’t stress enough that his collection is incredible, and absolutely unmatched. Any rare, seasonal, or in any way sought after beer is in there, happily aging next to ten more of the same year, and likely ten more of the year before and after. Cheers to you, Steve. I haven’t even made it to the food yet, and we’re at 3300 characters. The menu is just about the ultimate gastropub/diner menu, the perfect representation of the tasty kinds of food that you want to eat while consuming all that beautiful beer. Our first selection was a classic appetizer sampler, and everything was yummy. Chicken fingers, potato skins, jalapeño poppers, mozz sticks, and egg rolls all might not sound like haute cuisine, but done well, with a great beer, and even better company, they were all bordering on divine. After the tour, we were famished, so I ordered another flight of six more beers, and we ordered loaded fries with bacon jam. Perfect finish to the evening. We stayed until last call, and couldn’t have been happier about it. Can’t wait to come back. In summation, if you love beer, you must, must, MUST, come to Kickbacks. It is the Berns of beer. It is beer Mecca. You will not be disappointed. Cheers.

Kickbacks Gastro Pub is my new favorite restaurant. Not only is it one of the most interesting places I’ve ever seen, the variety of food on the menu is enough to satisfy anyone. They have 3 pages of different beers they serve as well. My friend and I had the beer cheese soup, perogies, and dates wrapped in bacon. The beer cheese soup was the best I have ever eaten and the two appetizers were yummy. We were both full when we left. The service is outstanding. The employees are very friendly. This place looks like a museum inside. The décor is so interesting you will want to look around. This place is beautiful. You have to go see it!

Good luck if you go here. Been several times because I the décor is really cool and its close to home. But service has been very hit or miss. Had a couple great servers, and a couple losers. Last visit, sat right at the bar, and bartender never took our order for more than 15 minutes. Not busy at all, just was talking to 2 other customers the whole time. He didn’t even notice us leave. The menu is extensive and interesting, but many items are not available. I’ve never been there and got my first choice. Food OR beer. It’s ridiculous! Then the food comes out at all different times. Its a shame b/c this place has a lot of potential but they are failing terribly. I hope some restaurant owners that know what they’re doing take this place over. Not going back unless I hear that things change.

The beer menu is absolutely awesome. They have a zillion good beers to choose from. 4 of us had dinner and beers tonight around 7 pm on New Years Day. There were local beers galore and many from around the US and the world. It seemed we had to wait an eternity to get our beers. It wasn’t terribly busy but I guess a lethargic waitress added to the wait. I had the Croque Madam that was pretty good. My wife had the shrimp which was good. The food was all cold and the wait was long. The only reason they get 3 stars is cause of the beer. Otherwise a two would be more accurate.

I was blown away today when my dad suggested we get lunch at one of my favorites of Jax– this place! My dad’s not a craft beer snob nor does he frequent bars, especially dimly lit ones. So I asked questions to indeed confirm that he was thinking of the same Kickbacks I adore… Apparently my parents happened upon this restaurant when they got lost in Riverside and found an antique store. They loved the taco salad there so that’s what they ate for lunch. I was turned around by their new menu so I hastily ordered the baked brie appetizer. Yummy as always. Good service and good beer.

Good value on fancy beers in a cool Environment. The bar is «steampunk» design, the walls are covered in pennies, and there are lots of cool design features to catch the eye. They have many drafts, including imports, loved the weizenbock, which can be hard to find. A cool spot. They have a fire pit outside. This place is open 20 hours a day! We didn’t eat, but the menu looked pretty good.

A group of friends and I was visiting Jacksonville for weekend and heard nothing but great things about Kickbacks in regards to beers, food, and ambiance! We checked it out and had outstanding service from the moment we walked in the door. The bar is absolutely beautiful with most of the walls covered in pennies! Leon was our waiter and did not hesitate to answer ANY questions about the 200+ beers they had and the extensive food menu! We tried a plethora of different craft beers and our server knew all about them. The best beer hands down was the Backyard Bastard 2013 and 2015! Definitely try both!(added incentive is the fact that it contains the most alcohol) The menu was also very extensive so we all were able to try a little bit of everything. We tried the Shrimp Stir Fry, Grilled Chicken salad, Fried Green beans, Loaded potato skins, Cheese sticks, and some type of cheese dip. Other than the mediocre of the cheese sticks, everything was great and fresh. EVERYONE cleaned their plates to say the least. Who can go wrong with good strong beer, savory dishes, and excellent service. Another. MUSTTRY!

Management is so shady they will not serve you the correct beer on tap but they will charge you for something different. Just own up to your incorrect pour. Also why put beer on your tap list if your not going to serve it. Never heard of having to call the owner to get permission to serve it to a paying customer.

2.5 stars rounded up to 3! I loved their gigantic selection of beers on tap, and I thoroughly enjoyed the architecture and interior design of the place. Reminded me of a dungeon, dark and mysterious. Much like my soul, in retrospect… It was also nice that my pumpkin beer came rimmed with powered graham cracker crumbs — how creative! However, the service was slow and even worse, the food was lackluster to an extreme. I got the Lumpia Lincoln Logs. I guess I shouldn’t have expected much because obviously we’re at a bar and not in Southeast Asia, but STILL. My friend go the poutine, and you don’t have to be in Canada to make good poutine, but unfortunately this was also lacking. The gravy tasted like it was from a powdered mix. The fries lacked oomph. The cheese curds, just so-so. I guess when your menu has over a hundred items, you can’t make everything 100%. Maybe we should’ve gotten the Thor burger($ 25.99): ½ lb ground beef patty & a half pound ground bacon patty, interwoven with swiss cheese, feta cheese, pepper jack cheese & yellow American cheese, roasted poblano chili peppers, pepperoncini peppers, roasted onions, pickled green tomato, fresh red tomato, aged salami, lettuce, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale stone ground mustard, creole remoulade, bacon & a KRISPYCREMEDOUGHNUT Nah I want to live til I’m at least 30.

I like this place. I’ve been here a few times with friends and it’s always pretty busy. They have a huge selection of beers to try and their food is pretty darn good(and the portions are huge!!). I ordered mimosa and veggie breakfast wrap. I’d have to say, it was yummy. My friends ordered waffles, biscuits and gravy and an omelet. Everyone was very pleased with how it came out. My only issue would be timing. It seemed to take awhile to take our order, clean the table and bring our drinks. That aside, I would definitely come back. Fun place to watch a football game or get a bunch of people together to hang out. Not terribly expensive either.

If you are a beer lover, HIGHLY recommend this place! Unbelievable amount of beers on tap. I went during the day, so I’m planning to head back at night to see how crowded it gets. Daytime service was pretty good, though. Love that they have flights. Made the mistake of sitting at the bar that’s inside the more sports bar side… the bar off the patio with the penny walls is so awesome! Looks like Willy Wonka opened a bar! So much décor to check out. Definitely planning to come back!

Honestly, I LOVE this place. The food is always delicious and the service has always been good. The variety of beer and the menu in general is overwhelming– but in the best way possible. The menu really has options for any tasting and there’s something for everyone! It’s really dark and hard to read the menu since there’s such minimal light, really my only complaint here. The vibe is good, the food is good, service is good! I’ve only been here 3 times and have switched it up every time and I’ve been very happy! Best sweet potato fries EVER(waffle style).

I’m going to begin and end with one thought or «rule of thumb» in this case: Guests should receive their beverage(s) within three minutes of ordering them. My first experience at Kickbacks: All drink, no food for me. Both drink and food service was painfully slow for those in our party who did order food that night. Then the following year, my sis and I both drank and ate. Still the service was way too slow for not being busy and the food was just OK. We’re never in a rush, but I’m very aware when something is taking too long. Drinks shouldn’t be one of them especially at a gastropub. Fast forward three years to the present: Brand new patio area and larger space inside from recent renovation. We were seated right away, orders taken: COLDBEER, PLEASE? OK, remember… it’s summer and we’re in Florida AND this place was not busy at all. Do you see a pattern here? I only go when I know it’s not suppose to be busy. So we’re waiting… and waiting… and waiting… and waiting… and waiting… and while waiting, I decide to look on Unilocal.Oh, I guess I should have read Mark B’s review before coming here. :( About 10 minutes later, my brother-in-law’s not-so-cold beer comes out and there’s a problem with mine so I was given a water just to wait again. Almost 20 minutes for one beer for me now. Wow. Finally. Yay. My lukewarm beer comes out with about a quarter of head. Seriously? Not Yay. I’m giving them an extra star for the new patio area that’s smoker friendly and the million plus penny walls, but the wait time just seems unacceptable for drinks. When we order beers, sodas, or water, it should always come out pretty quickly. I mean, this isn’t Starbucks. You’re not making a latte. So I leave you with this… Guests should receive their beverage(s) within three minutes of ordering them.

I gotta say that I really miss the old kickbacks. This place used to be my go to for any late night eating. However the past few times that I have been here were such a disappointment that I would rather starve at home than make the drive to go here late at night. First off, the service was always kinda spotty before but was forgivable, now the service is just awful, no drink refills, food that’s unpalatable cant be sent back because there is no server around to make it known to. I used to really love the steaks here but now they have replaced them with a much smaller cut, higher price and worst part is, is that every time i get it, its charred on the outside making it dry on the inside. The steak has absolutely no flavor and I always have to send it back 90% of the time, leaving me to eat alone after everyone is done or taking it home to eat alone. The mac and cheese is still the same awesomeness that it has been, but mac and cheese wont get me back into this place. Not for a good while. I hope they can figure out a better menu revamp but until then, I wont be returning anytime soon.

Still love this place, the décor is just crazy and the staff is wonderful. That said, the beer cheese soup is really thick and really beery, tastes like a dip not soup. Their presentation of Mofongo is not even close, which is a shame because I love that. The bacon jam fries are awesome. The fried pierogi appetizer is somewhat tasteless and could definitely use some seasoning. The fried green beans are super tasty. Pickles are pretty good but I kind a like it better with dill pickles. The back corner booth on the left in the new part is super loud.(Under the disco ball).
