$ 5 Gyro Wednesdays? Say no more! The Lamb Gyro was the best I’ve had in town and was wrapped in pita so soft and pillowy it was like being embraced by angel wings. The interior was surprisingly stylish and strongly urged you to sit down and stay a while. Clean lines, an airy feel, and lots of bright wood encompassed the restaurant. While they had three different options for hummus, we wanted to try the original. The hummus was just okay and without much personality. I prefer mine with more lemon and garlic. Next time I will try the Spicy or the Spinach Hummus. Another fun element that sets Choban Grill apart from your average Mediterranean Restaurant was their Turkish Coffee. They serve it in a dainty little espresso cup made of porcelain and rimmed in gold and blue. Drinking the potent coffee in such a delicate cup made it a special treat! However, IMPORTANTNOTE, if you get the Turkish Coffee, PLEASE make sure you don’t drink *all* the coffee. No one warned me and I got a bit mouthful of finely ground coffee beans that was awful and upset my stomach later on. The Baklava was also good and a lovely finishing addition to the meal and our coffee. As well designed as the interior was, I would like to get my food to-go next time and have a picnic across the street at Memorial Park! Choban Grill is a wonderful addition to Riverside and their $ 5 Gyro specials on Wednesdays is a steal!

I thought the food was just ok. I am willing to give this place another try because I really like Mediterranean cuisine. I visited Choban Grill in the late afternoon on a Saturday. I feel like at that time of day, they should have had fresher food on their food serving stations and they shouldn’t have been out of any items. I wanted to order the kofte(meatballs), but they were out of them. Also, the food appeared a couple of hours old, like the derelict delis at almost every Winn-Dixie ever. I gave the food a try anyway because Choban Grill has a pretty decent Unilocal rating. I ordered a lamb gyro, a Shepherd’s salad, and spicy hummus. The gyro was pretty good and is the main reason I gave the rating I did. The meat tasted great, the Tzatziki sauce was very flavorful, and the person making my gyro suggested some sort of spicy sauce that really made the gyro delectable. Coincidentally, the gyro was the only thing that was made while I waited. Everything else I ordered was on the aforementioned derelict buffet. Needless to say these items tainted my impression of Choban Grill. The Shepherd’s salad tasted ok, but I could tell it wasn’t fresh. The spicy hummus was mediocre at best. To me it really tasted like cheap bean dip from a crappy Mexican restaurant. I know hummus is made of garbanzo beans, but I expected the hummus to taste a lot better from a place like this.

Yummy! This place is too cute and has $ 5 gyros to boot! We got a gyro with the orzo and chicken soup… and oh my gosh that soup! It. Was. Delicious!!! Definitely recommend the soup! The gyro was good, very full and overflowing with meat and tzatziki sauce(messy), we got one lamb and one chicken and we both liked the lamb better. It wasn’t the best gyro I have ever had, but I think this is just personal preference. For the prices and the quality you can’t go wrong here, very good! The staff was excellent too! Friendly and welcoming!

Let me first start with something important: I’m Greek. My Greek grandmother made excellent Greek food. Best gyro in town(both lamb and chicken are excellent). Fresh ingredients, and it’s huge. I’m not sure if they’re still running the $ 5 special(which is also the best deal in town), but would still be worth it at full price. Bonus: cheap 2−4−1 draft beers all the time.

I don’t think you can complain about a $ 5 lamb gyro for lunch. It’s a great meal for the money. I also ordered the vegetable platter and there was so much food that we ended up taking some home! The vegetable platter was filling, but it was not great. I did enjoy the falafel and tzatziki sauce. I was not a big fan of the tabbouleh and grape leaves. Also, I never expected such a cute décor for a fast food gyro restaurant. The décor is very clean and simple(all white).

The gyros are delicious!!! Best meal to have for lunch plus have leftovers for later. I usually get mines half lamb and half chicken. The meats are perfectly seasoned and oh so tender. The other items on the menu look very delicious. I am all about presentation and cleanliness. This spot definitely makes the grade and the ambience is very laid back chic. I would recommend for a nice intimate get together or even nice afternoon lunch. Overall: My top choice for gyros and great service. Side note: The offer Perka Rewards: Free Gyro when you buy 9 more. Not bad if you eat lunch out a lot or just plain love dining out.

First experience and it was fabulous. A great bang for your buck. Staff is fast and friendly. Everything is really clean. Get the $ 5 wrap or gyro! You can’t go wrong. I got the lamb and it had plenty of meat. Hot sauce is great. Nice amount of hummus for an extra $ 1. Everything is super fresh. Will def be back next time I’m in the area, can’t wait!

WOW I am so happy I found this place. As a vegetarian I was in heaven at this Mediterranean mecca. Let me tell you something: the veggie plate is absolute heaven. For $ 10 my boyfriend and I received a portion that was too big for the both of us to share! Fresh falafel straight from the oven. Delectable hummus. Grape leaf wraps. Not to mention, alcoholic beverages are 2⁄1 much of the time. We had an entire meal for around $ 14. This is a great place to stop in during your visit to Riverside. Best hummus and falafel in town!

I thought I was over reacting when I tasted the lamb gyro. This $ 5 meal gets 5 stars. Instantly, right off the bat, 5 stars. The lamb gyro is overflowing with fresh tomatoes, lettuce, onion, tzatziki sauce, feta cheese, and lamb strips. Added bonus for me, they add hot sauce if you say yes. Everything was, literally, bursting with freshness. Honestly, I haven’t had a gyro this good before. I think Choban has ruined every other gyro place for me now… and I’m okay with that. Besides, service was top notch: friendly, attentive, energetic. The restaurant itself, super clean, cute and homey. Now to try the rest of the menu. Can’t wait!

Can’t believe I haven’t wrote a review for this place yet! Five shining stars! $ 5 gyro special is awesome, and they have 2 for 1 beer/wine all day, every day. So value is fantastic. This is a great place to grab a quick lunch or a bite one night before you go out on the town. The portions are plenty, I always seem to take home leftovers. The chicken gyro is perfectly seasoned, customized with your favorite toppings and you have the option of getting this on a pita or a bed of lettuce. The lamb isn’t very well seasoned, but it’s not terrible. I usually get the veggie plate or the huge platter to share(chicken, lamb, sides, pita!). The grape leaves are delish with a touch of lemony taste and no meat inside. Their falafel rocks, and there are 3 different kinds of hummus(my favorite is the spinach and spicy). Fresh, hearty soups for these chilly Jax days are just like your mama would make them if she were from the Mediterranean area and amazing. Check this place out if you are in the mood for lots of pretty healthy food, great service and affordable prices.

Practically before even taking my first bite, I was certain I would be coming back to choban in the near future. The restaurant is very clean and has a great atmosphere, and the food looked delicious. I decided to order the veggie platter. For $ 9.95 I was blown away by the portions. 3 pieces of falafel, warm pita, lots of tzatziki, 2 lentil patties, brown rice, 3 grape leaves, a big scoop of hummus, and a cucumber based side salad. All of it was delicious! I’m the type to finish every bit on my plate and I literally couldn’t finish all of the food even though I wanted to. The icing on the cake was the 2 for 1 on wines and draft beers. For $ 4 I had 2 glasses of a tasty Pinot Noir. Although I was the only customer in the place for the majority of my meal, I did see business pick up once it passed 6pm. That made me feel comforted – I wouldn’t want a fantastic place like Choban to close up shop simply because not enough people know about what they’re missing out on!
