This is a small butcher shop in a small store close to some neighborhoods. The people that work there are very nice. The prices are average, they have sales almost every day on one item which makes it more affordable but still not Walmart cheap. The meet quality seems to be honestly about the same as what she would get at the Walmart grocery store. The bonus of using this place though is that they are accommodating, four instance I often or a bottom round or a top round sliced at number 22 on the slicer because I turn it into jerky and they will freeze it just to the point of being solid, slice it like that on their slicer and package it up for me which is extra nice. You can call them and I’ll tell you what they have in stock, they have the special burgers they make I think once every two weeks or so with the trimmings from the filet mignon on and the high-end steaks and those burgers are great so if you’re there when they’re making him you should grab up as many as you can.

I picked up a new hobby and started making beef jerky about six months ago and can’t seem to keep that stuff in stock in this darn house. I’ve purchased meats from a variety of places which mostly includes supermarkets and I can definitely say buying meats from a local meat shoppe is much more fresh since you can taste everything due to dehydrating which isn’t «technically cooking», correct me if I’m wrong. Carroll’s meat shoppe is located behind a gas station so if you are trying to find it from Blanding with no sense of direction, that will make it a bit difficult. I’m not sure if I enjoy the smell of this place especially during my first trip but I have gotten use to it. They have a variety of meats and poultry on display and keep their fridges and freezers pretty stocked. There’s also a few spices, sauces and fried pork skin found in the middle of the store on display. I’ve probably been here about 10+ times now and the quality has been pretty consistent. I have also learned to call in advance for two reasons… One, to make sure what I want is in stock since I have ran into them running out of what I wanted on a couple of occasions. Two, I usually make a special request for each of my cut; especially when I need my meat to be really lean and have them trim the fat for me so the wait time gets pretty long if I walk in and ask for that. I use to trim it on my own but it’s just time consuming… I know… I’m lazy… Don’t judge :) Service has always been great, a few people here probably needs a little bit of training on what’s what and what is in stock off hand but at least there is always either the butcher or the manager on duty.

The place is clean and smells good inside(a plus for a place that deals in meat!). The employees were very helpful and efficient. We purchased the ½ freezer special and so far have been very pleased with the cuts and quality of the meat. The price is a lot less than traditional grocery stores(like Publix and Winn-Dixie) but the product is definitely equal to theirs. I will definitely be returning here.
