Bono’s Bar-B-Q Express

When I first heard that Bono’s was going to be the permanently at Hemming Park I was shocked. I have eaten from this truck a few times and have not had good experiences or food. Even talking to some of the other trucks outs there. They were not happy about it either. Being a true truckie fan I was seriously thinking it was not a good idea. But, tonight at the Night Market I met the head lady at Hemming Park. She explained to me (this is all huss huss now so…) that they are there and that thy will change their menu. I’m thinking Bono’s what can they change, Chicken, pork, beef (I’m not sure if they serve beef) I mean come on. I went to the truck tonight and the first thing I see is just what Mary Ann told me. Their catering company Pastiche is really what is cooking on the truck. They offered some of the new menu items that will be on the new truck. Now I have eaten at Pastiche the restaurant but I really didn’t know what I was eating back then. It was before I became a serious foodie freak and half A** chef. I was told that the cauliflower cous cous was really good. It looked really pretty with a molded mound of cous cous over a bed of mixed greens. I took a bite and immediately thought wife food. She eats this kind of stuff and when she got it she loved it. Me I thought it was rabbit food or another animal. I’m a red, light brown, or even blonde meat eaten. But it has to make some sort of noise for me to eat and enjoy it. A plant no noise so no eat. So my eyes were opened and little bit on the decision on this truck. I wish them luck and Pastiche has it’s work cut out for it. Next thing I might be thinking new truck wrap time.

I do love Bono’s salads especially with the pulled pork or brisket. And they serve Azar’s sausage. Did you know you can go to the Azar processing plant Downtown and pick up smoked and Italian sausages to make for yourself at home? So good! Anyway, I love the corn nuggets, I just think they are overpriced. They are at Charlie’s Café in Hemming Park today so check them out.
