Black Hound Bar-B-Q(or @QHOUND as he goes on Twitter) was the first place I ate at upon arrival in Little Rock. I had been on the road for days, it was mid-August, HOT and humid, and after the last 9 hour stint of driving I was ready for something cold to drink and local to eat. They were outside of Stone’s Throw as they often are on Thursday evenings. I got my cold draft fix and had a rib sandwich. It was a most welcoming experience and the ribs were incredible. Fast forward. Months later. I’d forgotten about BHBBQ until recently when I saw them outside of Stone’s Throw again. I was with folks and though they were out of ribs only 15 minutes after arriving(he only brought a couple of racks?!) we took advantage(glass half full kinda gal) of this by trying the other menu offerings — turkey leg, pork nachos, and a polish sausage. I was thoroughly impressed with *everything* we consumed… especially the turkey leg. So smoky, so tender. Turkey is totally an underrated BBQ item, right?! Or maybe I just don’t order it often enough and the rest of the world is in the know. The portion sizes are hefty, the sauce has a nice little tangy kick to it, and I will always have a fond nostalgia for my first BBQ meal in the south. Oh, and it rivals the other more established brick & mortar joints around town…
