I grew up in Jacksonville for the first 18 years of my life and have been back to BJ’s since then as well. I’m pretty sure BJ’s still stands as one of the only 24H restaurants within a 30 mile radius.
I’ll be honest… BJ’s leaves a lot to be desired, but for the right people it’s a great place. The food varies. NEVER EAT THE BUFFET. Order food from the menu, and you’re good. The breakfast shoe is my personal favorite! Don’t go here just for a horseshoe. There are better ones that are worth the drive.
Table service isn’t spectacular. It’s a small town diner. What do you expect? BJ’s is PERFECT for old couple, hillbillies, and anyone hungry after a night out drinking. Oh, and you can play slots in the back room.

A local greasy spoon diner. Not that great, but they are open all night so you get what you would expect. Not a place to take your date, but good enough for coffee.

We go to to every year when attending our homecoming. The restaurant is close to our motel. The food is mediocre, but the crowd is very entertaining. Always a loud crowd when the bars close. The waitresses are very good and knows how to handle a drunk and rowdy crowd. A good place to go for post bar, late night munchies. I always order the country fried steak, it is usually fair. Will probably be back next year.

As a student in town, BJ’s was one of the only places that was open all night. For lack of places to go when you need a study break or «study break», BJ’s was it. It… well, it pretty much sucks.
The food is pretty «meh», but they always seem to have a crowd for Sunday brunch.
The horse shoes and pony shoes aren’t terrible, but you can find them almost anywhere in Central IL.
Table service isn’t great, and last time I was there the smoking section took up pretty much the whole restaurant. Not fun. That said, if you’re willing to put up with the «décor» and the stench of stale cigarette smoke, you can play some slot machines in the back room.

Yuck! Canned peas with carrots was the only vegetable side option– overcooked and mushy, and just awful! The atmosphere left a lot to be desired. We will not be returning.
