Best hidden gem in the Avondale area! If you love country cooking, this place is awesome! The mac and cheese was the best… and they have a wing bar!

I did not see a Rat, but maybe it was because they were serving Meatloaf. :) The food was at best just fair. The Pork Chops were very tough and hard to cut even with a sharp knife.

Went on a Friday and got the seafood buffet and I was a very happy man. I enjoyed everything, especially the gumbo and the clam chowder. I’m from New Orleans so I know my gumbo and their’s was one of the better gumbos I’ve had away from home.

I find this to be an outstanding place for lunch. It’s an all you can eat country style buffet. Loved it. The staff is very nice/friendly and you don’t really wait for anything. They’ll seat you where you’d like and, though you can order from a menu, you can just grab a plate and get the food you want. There is a huge selection to choose from. I usually get a small serving of numerous things because I want to try so much. Well worth going to. I doubt many would be dissatisfied. Their«smothered with love chicken» is — OMG!!! — the best… ever! I think that’s Thursday’s only for that dish.

If you are a fan of true southern cooking this is the place for it. Arden’s has a menu but their daily lunch buffet is a wonderful sampling of Southern cuisine. The buffet has different offerings daily with a Seafood Buffet on Fridays. Nothing Lo-cal here but your taste buds will thank you. The serve is good. A very friendly and down home atmosphere.

Good southern/soul food. For a buffet style restaurant, the food is pretty amazing. It’s a tad bit on the saltier side so stay hydrated throughout the meal.

I cannot rave more how great the Southern cooking is at this place. The buffet has everything and anything you want and it is all wonderful in taste. Price is perfect but if you are looking to cut calories then you need to look elsewhere. Paula Deen watch out!

I went here to eat for the first time today. I was totally amazed at the variety of food that was available. The fried chicken was delicious as well as everything else on the menu. Definitely a place you need to go to. I know I will be back.

I’m probably one of the few who have eaten here who is not over the moon about the food but I’m not… there I’ve said it! I was looking for somewhere close by that I would not have to wait an hour to eat on a Saturday morning and Arden’s Kafe came to mind. I had heard great things about the place so I decided to give it a go. The food was plentiful and home cooked but outside of that nothing was outstanding to me. I tried a little bit of everything and didn’t leave hungry but I wasn’t truly satisfied either. The staff were friendly and we were seated right away, the atmosphere is «homey» and food is buffet style with table service for beverages.

Nondescript location. Hard to find. Limited parking. Space is bigger than it looks from the outside. Place was packed! No frills décor. Food was EXCELLENT! Best pork chops and desserts! If you like southern food, this is a must try!

How have I not reviewed this place yet? Bad Unilocaler. Simply put, good homecooked southern food. and a LOT of it. Tables are crammed in with mismatched chairs in a good homey feeling. Everything is kept clean and dishes are picked up promptly. Specials every day so go back often! My little rescue animal loving heart just hurts seeing that the owners are dog breeders who occasionally raffle off a puppy *sob* home checks! vet references! *sob*. Says a lot about the food that I’m willing to go back.

Decent food at all you can eat. Decent prices. Friendly staff. My only complaint is their limited hours. They are mainly open for lunch, most days from 11 am til 3 pm. Saturdays, they are open from 7 am til 1 pm for breakfast only. Sundays, they stay open until 5 pm and Fridays, when they close at 3 pm, they reopen at 5 pm until 9 pm.

Ardens is Fantastic, great family atmosphere. I’ve been for Thanksgiving dinner and it was as close to home cooked as you can get. The Saturday only breakfast buffet is full of everything you can think of bacon, sausage(link, kielbasa, patty) eggs, pancakes, biscuits, gravy… Definitely recommend this if you’ve got an appetite

Pretty awesome place with some good old country cooking! Friendly wait staff too. The fried green tomatoes were my favorite!

Finally got back here since before they closed for what I guess was, remodeling. The lunch buffet was good. Creamed peas, fried chicken, mac n’ cheese, dressing, biscuits, collards-good home cooking. All for $ 8.95. Can’t wait to try the Saturday breakfast buffet.

I’m pretty surprised there’s not hundreds of reviews for this place on Unilocal considering the crowds that I see here waiting in line on a weekly basis. We came on a Sunday afternoon and the parking lot was full. Rest assured, it is a true indication that this little westside restaurant has some great offerings & perhaps the locals are trying to keep it a secret. And since I’m feeling cold and lazy tonight, I’m going to just cut & paste my sister’s review for you here: «Everything was delicious, although it was kind of hard to get over the sweetness of the chicken, due to the cornbread breading and the collards were sweet, as well, not smoky enough for my taste. The mac & cheese, while thinner in consistency, was the best thing on the plate. The wedges of fried-green tomatoes would’ve been better, sliced thin. All in all, a great value for AYCE(ALLYOUCANEAT) $ 8.95.» Please keep in mind that she is a tough little cookie when it comes to food as she is an amazing cook herself. As for me, I loved all of the choices and everything I had was yummy. Great service & didn’t mind the wait. You decide for yourself.

I’m not a big buffet person but this place is awesome. Different buffet items every day and the food is great. Great service & very attentive. Selection is so broad that there’s something for everyone, no matter what your tastes. Great value & will be repeat lunch customer. I appreciate that this is a local business giving back to the community through their work program. Well worth checking out.

I’m not a huge buffet person, but this place is awesome — even for vegetarians. They have a million and one different kinds of everything — but it’s all yummy. Just make sure you don’t miss the Pecan Cobbler… oh emmm goood!!! This place is locally owned and has an amazing history… two women joined forces to better themselves and are working to help better the lives of other once-lost souls like themselves. It’s pretty incredible, and a place definitely worth our support :)

Local owned, down home cooking buffet style. Each day of the week features a new flavor, Friday is seafood day. For around 11 bucks you really can’t beat it. Different variety of cooked seafoods and other creations. Salads and soups. Enough desserts to make a fat man happy!
