This restaurant is a nice diversion from the hustle and bustle of Western Avenue and all of the chains. The menu has a nice variety of traditional Irish dishes. My favorite is the boxty and corned beef. The beer list is diverse as well. Angry Ginger’s also offers live entertainment on selected nights. You won’t be sorry. Check it out

This is the first place that I went to on my first night in Jacksonville. When we were seated, the hostess informed us that the kitchen was a little backed up, so we were expecting a bit of a wait. We put in an order for appetizers and didn’t get them until over an hour later — yeah… wasn’t expecting it to be THAT long of a wait. After about 50 minutes of waiting for our food, we asked our waitress how much longer it would be until our food comes out. She seemed confused that we were asking the question so we said that if it wasn’t ready that we would just pay for our drinks and cancel the order. She said it would be out soon. 15 minutes later, food comes out… we weren’t even going to bother ordering entrees. The food was good, but seriously… it wasn’t worth waiting an HOUR for. Also, ordered a hour horseman shot AND it was watered down. Did not burn at all going down. One word. Disappointed. Thankfully the chef came out to apologize for the wait, which is why I gave it 3 stars instead of 1.

I’m not joking you when I say that literally EVERYTHING on their menu is incredible. After years of lamenting Jacksonville’s lack of a good(or any) Irish restaurant, the Angry Ginger came to save the day. Dubious of their claim to authenticity, I went with a safe choice and opted for fish and chips — and was blown away. With every subsequent(and inevitable) return to this pub, I tried something new on the menu — shepherd’s pie, Gaelic steak, corned beef, and many of the daily specials — and was rewarded every time with an entrée that was almost even better than the last. It doesn’t matter what you choose; the Angry Ginger is sure to give you everything you could ask for with an authentic Irish dish. Delicious, memorable, and filling, I never walked out of here hungry or unsatisfied. So yeah. If that isn’t enough to get you to go try Angry Ginger out, the atmosphere is clean and comfortable and cozy, like an Irish pub should be. There’s plenty of room for big groups, so get all your friends and go support this awesome restaurant, because we all know how badly Jacksonville needs the few authentic places it has to provide a respite from the usual gross fast food and boring franchises.

After hearing how fabulous this place is and that its the best place in Jacksonville from my coworkers and loving my Irish restaurant back home I finally decided to go in and see what was so amazing, maybe I’ve been spoiled by traditional Irish food and an amazing whiskey selection back home but I was not impressed. The restaurant/bar itself is fairly bland in décor with an open tabled area, the standard L shaped bar and a section of pool tables as the entire table section was empty we ended up sitting by the bar and pool tables. I had heard that they had an extensive beer and whisky selection and I was excited to go over the menu until I went over the menu and realized that I’m a snob and consider and extensive selection to at least match the beer cooler at the grocery store if not exceed. Now for the food… I will fully admit I only ended up eating an appetizer, the beer cheese and pretzel, to recreate this dish at home you would need to first go buy a soft pretzel and then freeze it until it develops a light freezer burn essence and then serve it lukewarm with some sort of wallpaper paste because I’m assuming it has the same tasteless gloopy consistency as what was served with my freezer pretzel, as it neither tasted of beer or cheese. Being unable to not finish a soft pretzel for the first time in my life we decided not to order entrees and to just go grab something from the grocery store. To top it all off while describing my evening to one of the previously mentioned coworkers later she told me that the last time she ate there she was served a shepherds pie that was still cold in the middle and was told by the waitress that its supposed to be that way and you just stir it, so I’m doubly glad I avoided the actual food.

We came in for Valentine’s Day dinner. We walked in and were seated right away. The atmosphere is very charming. Bar area and pool tables for those that want to play, music playing, and decent seating area for dining. I asked for a sample of the beer I was curious about and received it. I tried an Old Rasputin stout and highly recommend it for someone who enjoys a rich stout. My husband asked for a Redds Apple, but even though they had the coasters, they don’t serve the beer. Didn’t quite understand that, but he was happy with an Angry Orchard. My husband ordered the Corned Beef and Cabbage, and I ordered the the Guinness burger. The corned beef was too salty in our opinion, and my burger had a burned charcoal crust over the entire beef patty. The service could have been effected by the holiday, because we observed several others having issues with their food from the kitchen.

Very clean, great bangors and mash, nice staff. Tip back a glass of smithwicks. They have a couple of pool tables and dart boards. They play irish/celtic music but have a jukebox for other types of music. They have a chef onboard if there is something that you would like that isnt on the menu. May need to plan ahead for that option.

Went here to celebrate a birthday. There were 10 of us in our party. The food was delicious! Everyone had a different dish, and all complimented on how good their meal was. We will definitely return.

Came here last minute with my family and suffice to say we were not dissapointed. Our server, Amber, was absolutely amazing in every sense of the word. From her honest recommendations to her friendly attentiveness, she made our visit a good one. Food wise, we had the Irish Rolls, Irish Breakfast Burfer, Fish & Chips, and Bangers & Mash. Everything was very good. My only complaint was that the corned beef on the burger was pretty fatty and the sausage was very salty(in my opinion). The servings were huge and overall there is no doubt that we will be back.

Been here a few times and have a good time! The food is delicious and the waitresses are nice and attentive. I did order a margarita and it was too salty so I sent it back and watched the bartender throw a fit and ask other to try it like I was crazy. Thought that was a little rude. Other than that the pool tables and the darts and fun and I love the Touch Tunes!

Drove by this place and the name really stood out so a few days later we stopped in, delicious food! The beer cheese is amazing and the portions are generous. I had the fish and chips which were pretty good, the fries were nothing special but the fish was pretty good! Next trip I plan to try the corned beef! I’m not Irish or anything but the fare was authentic enough for me!

This is a pretty cool place, and a breath of fresh air here in Jacksonville. Don’t let the warehouse exterior keep you from coming in. The servers have all been attentive and friendly, and the restaurant is definitely well cared for. I haven’t been there after hours yet, but I can imagine it’s a good place to pass the time. The Irish breakfast burger was delicious, the boxties are addictive and the salmon plate is delicious. I’ll definitely be going back.

Enjoyed two great meals here on the same day. For lunch we enjoyed the delicious Irish Boxty, that were so creamy with a slightly crisp texture. The spicy garlic wings and Shepard’s Pie were both very tasty, but the Irish Rolls with the stout gravy stole the show at lunch. After greatly enjoying the décor and atmosphere we returned for dinner with a few drinks. We both ordered burgers, Pub burger and Spicy Hawaiian burger. WOW! They were perfectly cooked and had so much flavor. The onion rings that came with them were also outstanding, with the perfect texture and snap in each bite. We do a lot of traveling and consider ourselves foodies and we are now so excited to have such a great place in our hometown.

The food is amazing. I had the pub burger and it was so yummy. The staff is very friendly and help each other out when it gets busy which is nice to see. I’ve been there on more than one occasion and I’ve never been disappointed. Great food. Great booze and a great atmosphere.

Went to Angry Ginger’s on a double date on a Friday night. There isn’t much to the outside of the place but once u step inside ur transformed to the atmosphere of a lovely pub. There is pool and darts and a space for what looks like live entertainment. The staff was wonderful, from our waitress to one of the owners who stopped by our table to chat. We each had something different to try. I had Guineas beer w nitro, made it a bit smoother and I liked! We had boxty for appetizer, with corned beef and sour cream and it was fantastic! U must try it. One of us had shepherd’s pie. It was a decent portion and very filling. The spices made it unique. They gave it a 4 out of 5. I had Gaelic Steak. Yummy! I cld hv done with a half portion. But it was very good and I give it 5 out of 5. My partner had fish and chips and he lived it. The fish was probably the best, in our opinion, and we totally recommend it. We ended our meal with an Irish coffee. It was very strong and good. Our over all experience was happy, happy, happy. Totally recommend this place for families, dates and just a great bar/pub experience! We will set be back!

We tried this Irish Pub for the first time tonight. Oh. My. Goodness! The best Shepherds Pie I have ever had … and I’ve had many from many restaurants. My husband had the Gaelic Steak. He said that it was incredibly delicious, and he rarely gives food that rating. They have Guinness and Smithwicks beer on tap. Dave doesn’t like Guinness but we have several friends who do like it. The owner told us that they have it on tap with either CO2 or nitrogen for the carbonization. He told us that the nitrogen makes the Guinness taste creamier. We’ll have to wait for our son-in-law to confirm that. :)

Decided to try the Anger Ginger with my two young children. It was after the typical lunch hour. Noted on the door that they are opened till 2 a.m. for the definite pub feel. I was glad that I went inside. Its located next to the Habitat for Humanity Shop on Gumbranch. I don’t know what I was expecting the inisde to look like but the décor was great. I was greeted by an Irish leprachaun and the place was virtually empty. Great! There’s lovely wood everywhere. Deepy honey tables, darker wood on the two pool tables, and the bar is long and expansive for lots of people to gather and sing traditional pub songs. The children were excited by the two dart boards that were available for them to play. Instead of being occupied by the iPad they competed against themselves and me to see who was better. Our waitress Jazmane was great. She was extremely attentive and friendly. They have a standard menu and weekly specials. I picked wings from the weekly specials for the children. Jacky Honey BBQ wings which I hope will become a regular menu item. The cost was a mere $ 7 for 10. My seven-year-old who is extremely picky wolfed down four before I could wipe her face. My five year old son ate 2 but was caught up in playing darts and wanting to play pool that after he ate his french fries(a separate side) he was off. I order fish and chips. I was born in England and some of my finest food memories are off fish and chips wrapped in newspaper(which has long gone away). The batter was fried to perfection. The fish was moist with large flakes that I enjoyed throughly. I tried to be true to my roots and only use vinegar but the American me tried their«Irish dipping sauce.» It reminded me of a remoulade sauce with horseradish added. I’m not a big horseradish fan but it worked in the case. So well done. One of the owners, Mr. Paul came over and talked to myself and the children. We had a really good time and I look forward to returning.

The potato leek soup was ridiculously good. Good atmosphere. Not terribly expensive. I’ve had the Gaelic steak, whiskey salmon, Asian stir fry(why not?). They make good cocktails and have an awesome beer selection.

What else can I say. This is the place that you are looking for. Unless of course you are looking for wings and dollar beers. Quality food and excellent menu items plus an extensive selection of beers and wine for you connoisseurs of things not annheiser busch. Make it a date night any night!
