Came to Jackson for my friend’s wedding and some skiing. We hit Teton Pass resort and some beautiful backcountry a 20 min drive away. On our way out of town we stopped by Teton Mountaineering and were blown away by the selection and prices. I prefer wool and down to other materials and they had both in spades, from my 2 favorite designers: Arc’teryx and Patagonia. My girlfriend found some stylish shirts she loved and we got some great deals at 50% off(mid-Feb!). The salesperson was really friendly, telling me about the local crags and pullouts for climbing and skiing and didn’t seem concerned about selling me more stuff.

On a recent trip to the Jackson Hole area, I found myself in need of some guidance on the area’s recommended snowshoeing locations. After Jeff broke out a map and gave me such great advice, I opted to purchase a brand new set of snowshoes from him… Although I had gone to Skinny Skis first, the service I received here was remarkably better. Not only was I greeted immediately upon entering but the staff was genuinely interested in helping me find the products I need. Put simply, I was extraordinarily impressed with the staff and the selection of this place!

This is an amazing mountaineering and specialty ski shop as you enter the heart of downtown Jackson! They carry a great assortment of outerwear, lifestyle clothing, climbing gear, tents, bags, and sleeping bags and accessories. The staff is very knowledgeable and SUPER helpful. A+ for customer service and assortment of reliable brands like Mountain Hardwear, Patagonia, Prana and more.

Went here on a Friday night at 7pm. There sign said they closed at 8pm. The doors were locked, lights were on and staff were standing at the desk. When I tried to get in they just looked at me and turned away from me. I double checked my watch and they did indeed close 1 hour early on a Friday Night! We went back the next day just to check it out and they staff were rude. They never acknowledged our presence in the store and there were 4 of us willing to spend money. We headed down the street to the many other options for outdoor equipment. We will never return to this store.

While the selection at Teton Mountaineering probably the most complete in the Jackson area, many on the staff leave much to be desired. They are pompous and have talked down to myself and friends who I have been in store with. If you want to feel small and insignificant, head to TM for gear, if you don’t, then I suggest Skinny Skis or Wilson Backcountry!

Rude staff, two young girls who seemed to loathe retail… The shop had sold out of the product we were looking for and when we asked for alternatives one of the clerks, unable to make eye contact, rolled her eyes and dismissed our request… I understand that retail can be tough in a tourist town… however I expected much more from this shop… Ultimately found what we were looking for in Wilson Backcountry!

A very complete selection of outdoor clothing and shoes, technical equipment, and local books, maps, and guides. They carry a wide selection of Patagonia clothing and other popular outdoor brands. Saved the day(and my trip) when I had to buy an extra pair of thermal base layer clothing because I didn’t pack enough in my suitcase.

Teton Mountaineering is always a must stop before we head out on a camping or hiking adventure in Wyoming. The staff is knowledgeable and very helpful. The merchandise includes everything from technical gear to great looking clothes. And they rent equipment like ice axes.

This place is it! If you need ANY sort of climbing gear or advice, books or boots, get here now! They’ve kept themselves distanced from the tourist scene here and are still in the business of outfitting people the right way. The staff here is friendly and all of them climb or hike so they have great first hand knowledge of the Tetons and other local ranges.
