Our second meal at Teresa’s, neither at our instigation, was on a quiet Monday night. The atmosphere is very much a blast from the past, few old-timey restaurants like this have survived, and we enjoyed the environment; YMMV. You certainly don’t want to go for the service or for the food, both mediocre at best. Drinks in the bar excellent, good beer selection, liked the chatty bartender. Our family-style first courses were minestrone topped with grated cheese from a shaker and salad bowl, both fine, neither inspiring. Entrees included veal piccata(not terrible, but really not good) with a spaghetti side(totally uninspired) and a calzone(fine, though arriving appreciably after other entrees). Shared cannoli for desert: two in one order, plenty for four of us, by far the nicest presentation of the evening. Menu and food preparation seem stuck in the previous millennium; if that is by choice, it seems to me an odd one. Wonderful Amador wine. Service laid-back, very informal, quite slow, but we didn’t mind as we were there primarily for conversation, not food. If there is a next time for us, we’ll stick to the bar and pizza or calzone.

My family came here for a birthday celebration dinner. The atmosphere of the restaurant is a wonderful home style Italian family environment. The service is great and the food is very good. Nice big portions and a good value. Definitely not a chain establishment that has prepackaged food. Homestyle cooking with charm. Will come back again and again.

For being open nearly 100 years this place has not lost its charm. The atmosphere is a rustic but has an elegant twist and has the right amount of lighting. The food makes you feel like your in Italy when really your in a simple historic town. You know when you’re in a authentic Italian restaurant when you order one item and it comes with a dozen sides. I recommend the veal if you decide on going there, since it was one of the dishes I have had there. Also if you have found room for dessert, get their cherry cannoli it is excellent, because the cherry are grown by one of the waitress. So if your in town or looking for a romantic evening this is just what you need.

The staff was very nice. It was also interesting learning the history but the food was very tasteless two stars because of the granddaughters politeness I had the special pasta with shrimp, crab and lobster. I couldn’t find any lobster and a couple small pieces of crab and 2 jumbo shrimp for $ 23.00 sadly it was mostly angel hair pasta.

Sooooo overrated! marinara /spaghetti sauce is more like minestrone soup with veggie filler. staff is the best part. disappointing overall.

I ate here once. The food tasted like… nothing. There was literally no taste at all. They said they didn’t use any salt because so many old people ate there. Whaaaat? So I put a ton of salt on my food. Then it tasted like salt. I have not been back since.(But two stars cause it was all cozy and warm inside!)

He took me to Teresa’a for our first date. The Calamari was delicious. I’ve never tried it before, the pizza wasn’t bad considering I’m not usually a fan. The bartender was friendly and I would go back and try again.

Good lasagna and salad. Minestrone was bland. Nice set up but felt little crowded at our table for two. Overall okay experience for the location.

I was looking forward to an old school Italian restaurant as many of these stalwarts have great food and offer a good value. Things were looking up as I strolled into the busy bar and got a friendly greeting from the bartender. The classic motif got my hopes up. Unfortunately, Teresa’s has sub-par food and bad service to boot. The waitress was all business and never checked on me after I got my entrée, which were preceded by terrible fried oysters. The chicken piccata was simply bland. Even the bread was lousy. The waitress only smiled as she left the check, no doubt aware it was tip time. Teresa’s golden era has come and gone.

Great dinning environment. The foods are authentic. Our family arrived late, almost close to 9:00 pm. They still greeted us and welcome us in. Onw of the best dinning experience I have.

Back at Teresa’s for my oldest son’s birthday again, and have to say the special that some of us had, which was linguine with salmon, clams, mussels and prawns in a light sauce was one of the best things, no, the best thing that I’ve eaten in many months, not counting the fabulous oysters that they have in Alabama. Though always a fan since first eating there more than 50 years ago, I was so impressed that I have to tell you to get over there asap if you possibly can, and try that special. Teresa was her charming self, as per usual. I guess there are reasons that they’ve been there 94 years, as she reminded us last night. And today I see it was just voted Best Italian Food in Amador County, which has quite a bit of Italian food.

My boyfriend took me out to Teresa’s for Valentine’s Day on 2-14-2015. We had made a reservation for 7:30 pm. We arrived at 7:30 sharp and the place was packed. We were told that we they could not seat us for 15 minutes. Momentarily, a couple who was seated next to the big fireplace was greeted by a waitress and motioned to follow her to their table. We asked the gentleman at the register if we could sit and wait at the table next to the fireplace until our table was available, and he said yes. After waiting for about 10 minutes a waitress stopped by and asked if we would like to stay at this table next to the fireplace for our dinner. We said, «yes, that would be great!» We received our menus, and 2 glasses of water and sourdough bread and butter, My boyfriend John had been to Theresa’s 3 or 4 times before with friends and had ordered pizza which he said each time that was excellent. John decided on Filet Mignon and I Raviolis. We waited about 20 minutes before the waitress came to our table to take our order. The Minestrone soup came about 5 minutes which was very good. The salad followed about 15 minutes later. We then waited over 30 minutes for our entrees. We overheard the 2 couples sitting next to us complain about how slow the service was. They proceeding to get up and leave after only receiving soup and salad. We should have followed their lead. John said he never had such bad service here. The Filet Mignon was very small and came with a Spaghetti side dish that was very bland. My Raviolis were very bland and only slightly warm. The waitress only apologized once for the lack of service and asked how our meal was towards the end of the meal. We told her we were never coming back due to terrible service, small portions and high pricing($ 27.00 Steak the size of a small potato!!) We only received a $ 7.00 discount which was a rip off! We felt that Teresa’s Place should of anticipated scheduling enough staff to provide excellent customer service to their customers on a busy night like Valentine’s Day. Needless t say we did not leave a tip and will never dine at their establishment ever again,

Come here. It is a pretty good spot, I think I just ordered incorrectly for what I wanted. I got the cantalonni(spelling?) shells filled with meat. Too much meat and not enough sauce and shells. However the soup and salad were super tasty. The service was also pretty dang good too! The atmosphere is really what you come here for though, quaint and intimate. I would go back and try something else on the menu. Food is size-able, but for a growing boy, it was just about where I wanted it, maybe slightly under.

If you want«homestyle» cooking and small town charm and service, pull into Teresa’s Place off the backroad into Jackson. Teresa and the family have been serving up hearty Italian-style country comfort for as long as I can remember and have never failed to deliver a good experience. On my most recent visit with my family, our eyes were clearly bigger than our stomachs. From the get-go we went all out. We started with the antipasto, a heaping bowl of olives, tomatoes and other assorted goodies in the mother-country style. It was cold, tangy and addictive. I also loved the crisp bread chips(as I call them) laced with a generous drizzle of buttery, garlic goodness. I wasn’t nearly as thrilled with my main dish, the lasagna, which was heavy on the cheese and oil and light on meat or any savory flavor. It was so heavy, in fact, that I only ate half of it. This is coming from a man who is known for clearing his plate except under the most extreme circumstances. I suppose that after a meal that filling, it would be foolish of me to order dessert. But I did. The coconut cream pie was also a disappointment. The crust was good, but the filling was essentially pudding buried under an excess of whip cream. Any meal here is made all the better by the exceptional service. Our waitress had heard timing down perfectly. She never interrupted except when necessary and was nothing but smiles. Stop in sometime and spread the word. Teresa’s place is one of the charms of Jackson!
