The drinks were outstanding, but the cooking and processing of food needs to be better. Better choices else were.

Been here a couple times and it’s still so good. They make the most amazing peach martini and blue cheese burger. Atmosphere is pleasant and service is over-the-top. Definately a frequent stop off!

I really like this place. We stopped into the bar a few times as we’ve driven through Jackson and it is just the coolest place. You walk down stairs from the street into the bar. It’s very dark at first but as soon as your eyes adjust you see a gorgeous room with dark wood floors and beautiful details everywhere. They have a full bar and they stock some microbrews as well. I was pleasantly surprised that the bartender knew how to make a proper Old Fashioned(that’s pretty rare these days). On our most recent stop we ordered some sandwiches and they were very good. At some point we’re going to come back and stay at the hotel and have a proper dinner here, but on our stops so far we’ve had a great time. We’ll be back!

Staff was kind, steak was good. Unfortunately I ordered the prime rib. 15 minutes after ordering the prime rib, I was told that that was only available for the«wedding party». After our party of 4 ate, I was presented with the bill. No sorry, no here’s a free dessert, nothing. I asked for the manager and this woman presented herself as the«Hotel general manager» she made no apologies for anything, just blamed the kitchen for not communicating even though as the GM she should know what’s happening in her establishment. She then grabbed my arm and repeated that she had a large wedding party and wanted to know what my problem was… well never again. Dinner with a side of assault?

Usually, I’m not one for leaving a bad review, but let’s face it — if it’s that bad, you need to tell others. We booked our dinner a week in advance through Open Table. We arrived to harried young girl who was wiping her face and running around like she was pumped up on coffee. We waited in the bar for our table 40 minutes past our reservation time. We figured they were busy… When we were retrieved, we still had to settle the tab. Another hostess, not the one previously mentioned, took off like a bat out of hell with the menus and expected us to follow. However, she knew we had to settle the tab, because we told her. Didn’t matter. Wanting to figure out where were were going to be sat, I followed as quickly as I could. Turn right, turn left, turn right — when I entered the back room, she was already at the table 8 yards away. She threw the menus down(they almost slid off the other side of the table) and said, «Someone will be with you shortly.» She didn’t look at me, she said it way too quickly, and in motion nonetheless. Mind you, I was two tables back yet, and she passed me walking before I even sat down. I thought her service was so rude, I seriously contemplated walking — and we should have. No one — no one, should ever be treated like that in the service industry. Ever!(Lighter hair, taller than the other shorter, darker haired hostess for that evening) My husband would not be joining me for a few minutes. Apparently, closing the tab was not a fast endeavor. My husband finally found me, but no one waited for him to seat us together. It’s not like Valentine’s Day or anything. No rush mind you, it would be 23 minutes(yes — I kept track after our 40 minute ordeal on uncomfortable bar stools) before our complimentary champagne arrived. The waitress saw us, but I figured we must not have been her table, because she was making no effort to come over and say hello. She just walked back and forth, amongst empty tables. Oh yes, at least 7 when I was being seated. Makes you wonder why we sat there for 40 minutes, because I was definitely keeping track of couples leaving. Not enough for 7 empty tables. There were several staff walking around, and no one — not one single person for 23 minutes said anything to us. We were hungry and really wanted a nice night out. We were already out of town and knew it would be pizza if this didn’t work out. Why do we fight so hard to make things work… While we were waiting for service, another couple seated after us — talking to the waitress who didn’t seam to know we existed — was receiving their frustration. She was going to town on the waitress. The whole place could hear if they tried. Still, seated after us, had champagne and we still didn’t have a hello from any of the people walking around. We contemplating flagging someone down, but they were all running around like chickens with their heads cut off and after our first rude experience — why ask for another. I really didn’t think the lolly-gagging waitress was ours, and we should have asked for her. At the same time, why should we have to? We’re about to spend at least $ 60 a meal — and we have to flag down our own service? By the time we were asked for our order, they were already out of one of the specials, so we ordered the ribeye. Worst mistake ever! It was horrible. It was unevenly cut, so there was no way it could possibly be medium-rare throughout as I requested. Pink on the thick end and well-well done where it was thin. We spent upwards of $ 170 for a wretched steak, flavorless except for the salt I absolutely had to add to it, not cut right, not cooked right, and both us were sick for almost 24 hours for who knows what reason on our plates. Everything was tasteless — except the strawberries. On top of everything, we even had the opportunity to hear the manager chew out some of the staff, right next to our table. Female manager, chewing out the girls running around and our waitress. So unprofessional. What she said, didn’t even have to be said. She was just trying to show them who was boss and it was pathetic. Just added a bitter taste to my mouth. I looked away, but I could still hear. My husband I were appalled. All over a knife — really? Talk to your staff in the back, and smile like a service-minded professional would. No one was even at the table in question, and frankly, no one was coming. This place cannot even handle a mild night — remember many empty tables. I honestly do not foresee this place lasting. Between the wretched food, and the service up to the management — not happening.

Stanley’s is not the place to go if you have kids or a service dog. Watched the staff tell a couple with a service dog that they could NOT sit in the main dining room because of the«dog’s hair being near food». The poor couple had to resort to citing federal law so they weren’t segregated in a separate room. Families with kids… Yep… Same thing… Not allowed in the main dining room either. This place is ignorance at its best. I will be telling friends and family to steer clear!!! Oh and the food? It was so-so. I would recommend Bella Cucina… They have delicious food and excellent service.

Every Time we come to town we stay at national hotel, and eat at the steakhouse. I was proposed to here in December so it seemed fitting to be here for Valentine’s Day. The pre set menu was really good and the food was amazing. There was all the courses and a glass of champagne with chocolate covered strawberries. Our waitress was delightful and there was never an empty plate on our table for more than a minute. It was expensive but what do you expect for Valentine’s Day and for good food with a great ambience. Just another reason this location is very special to us. Well done! And thank you for a great dinner for us :)

Horribly disappointed. I have no idea how this place has 4.5 stars. When a restaurant calls itself a steakhouse you have a certain level of expectation. At $ 70 a meal the food quality was simply unacceptable. Our meals came with complementary champagne(it was Valentines Day) which was nice but not what I wanted to drink with my meal. I was never asked if I wanted something to drink. All I had with my meal was water and cheap champagne. That error aside the staff was actually quite pleasant. My biggest complaint is about the food. The appetizers were so so and the soup was rather lack luster, but the the main entrée is where I really got upset. The asparagus was incredibly overcooked and the potatoes(potatoes au gratin) were bland. Then there’s the steak. I come to a steakhouse, and the only two cuts they have to offer is New York strip and Prime Rib. Really?! So, I place my order for the New York strip and a ribeye comes out! A small, dry ribeye. What kind of «steakhouse» is this?! I could not have been more disappointed with my meal. I just $ 140 for cheap buffet food.

We stopped in Jackson for lunch on the way to Sorensen’s and Kirkwood skiing. We were waited on promptly but the food service was a little slow. My barbecue bacon burger and fries were very good. My wife had fish tacos and house chips which were also very good. The cost was reasonable but not inexpensive.

I still miss the brunches, especially the bennies, but we continue to go there quite a bit for lunch because it’s so nice, and comfortable, we like the servers, and the food is good and reasonable, especially with the locals discount which is every day including weekends. You can’t beat it. Based on Sunday’s lunch it seems to have changed again, a bit. The steak seemed a bit smaller on the steak sandwich and the pulled pork one seems a bit smaller too, but the tacos were bigger and better than before. Was back there for dinner with some friends tonight and the salmon, spinach and garlic mashed potatoes that I had were just fantastic, with good desserts too, and a free sundae for the birthday girl. This is definitely as good as it gets in Jackson and I hope they can keep it up… and bring back the bennies.

We haven’t eaten here, but we’ve sure enjoyed the bar a couple times! The bartenders are always friendly and knowledgeable. We plan to come back and spend a night. We’ll try the restaurant. Great place!

My wife and I had a wonderful dinner here to celebrate my birthday. We had had a big lunch, so decided to split the New York steak and bacon and spinach salad. They did this for us at no extra charge. The steak was cooked perfectly and the salad was delicious as well. We also split a crème brûlée for dessert that was also prepared perfectly. Would highly recommend this place for others.

I can see why the locals are raving about this place because there are no other good restaurants nearby. I do not like leaving a mediocre review but, since we were drawn to this restaurant because of the ratings, I feel it’s only fair. We were directed away from the dining room(after being told on the phone that we didn’t need a reservation) to the bar and found the service and food were subpar(but considering that the bartender was acting as a waitress, barmaid and a busser, I suppose that may be a bit harsh on the service.) I just expect a steak that costs over $ 35 to be better than average. Also, if you can pretend to be a local, you’ll get chef recommendations and better service.

My favorite restaurant! Stanley’s is a place to enjoy a good conversation over a glass of wine, and when your food arrives you will not be disappointed. The service is outstanding; I have never had to ask myself were is the waiter. If you are looking for a special place to eat with an inviting atmosphere, and great food Stanley’s is the place for you.

We were going to go to Bella Rosa, but when we pulled up, we didn’t want strip mall food, we wanted steak. So we came down to Stanley’s. Kirsten greeted us at the bar and was 5 stars from the start. She was very friendly and accommodating. The beer was excellent and wonderful. We had the bacon wrapped beef medallions and I nearly climaxed at the first bite. We also had the prawns and the meat balls too. The whole time Kirsten kept the drinks coming and was a excellent host. The chef, Tim, came out to tell us about a substitution and was great to talk to. I had the filet and it was excellent. Everyone else liked their food too. If you aren’t eating at Stanley’s, you aren’t living.

We had drinks in the bar for a couple of hours before dinner. The bar tender, Kirsten was friendly and attentive. We were sat for dinner at our appointed time. Our server, Aaron was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and gave recommendations. I had the caprese salad to start. The tomatoes were ripe and flavorful and the mozzarella fresh. I had the filet entrée and it was cooked perfectly. We followed with the tiramisu for dessert, which was large enough to share. We had an excellent meal the friends here and it was a delightful evening.

Great service. Good wine selection. My New York steak was cooked the way I like it. We brought an old bottle of wine and they indulged us in what became an anticlimatic uncorking of some aged vinegar from my personal wine stash… but their customer service was awesome and we enjoyed a bottle of Bella Grace instead. Our waiter indulged me in an upgrade of my side order to prawns with my steak at a minimal cost… I heartily agreed and enjoyed my ala carte surf-and-turf dinner. A delightful evening with my lady in the relatively new restaurant of the old National Hotel. I have nothing but good things to say about our treatment at Stanley’s. I have been a customer of the renovated bar(which is fun and refreshing) but this is the first time I have been a customer of their restaurant. A side note and no reflection upon Stanley’s Steakhouse… ladies please be careful on the stairs downward from street level if you are wearing heels. Our old Gold Country sidewalks can be steep and uneven. The cobbled sidewalk in Volcano is a good example.
