The Pioneer Wine Trail is an association of eight Michigan wineries with ten locations. The locations run from the East Lansing area down to Blissfield at Michigan’s southern border. The wineries are located in the beautiful Irish Hills area and throughout the south central area of Michigan. This area has rolling hills and hidden lakes and lots of fertile orchards and fields, making it the perfect environment for growing grapes and wine fruits. The wineries that are part of the trail are: Burgdorf’s Winery in Haslett, Mi Château Aeronautique Winery in Jackson, Mi Sandhill Crane Vineyards in Jackson, MI and a seasonal location in Dexter, Mi Sleeping Bear Winery in Parma, Mi Cherry Creek Cellars in Parma and Cherry Creek Old Schoolhouse Winery in Brooklyn, MI Lone Oak Vineyard Estate in Grass Lake, Mi Pentamere Winery in Tecumseh, Mi J.Trees Cellars in Blissfield, Mi The wineries co-operate together to hold several events during the year. In April, they hold the Michigan Wine Celebration. In May, there’s the Great Lakes Wine fest held at the MIS Speedway in Brooklyn. In June, there’s the Summer Solstice Release Party. August has the Wine Days of Summer Picnic Trail, and in November, there’s the Big Grape Bus Tour. Michigan should be proud of it’s vineyards and orchards and adding the Pioneer Wine Trail to the other areas on the West Coast and in Traverse City only enhances our great wine-making traditions.
