Terrible service. Seats are not secure and dangerous. Waiter did not know drink menu and was put out to go get one. He only had one other table when we sat. We had to ask for more salsa even though the bowl was empty. When he brought more he dumped the salsa on my husband, accidentally. Then he came back and didn’t even bring more salsa! We were ready to order but he misunderstood and left. Finally after more than 30 minutes and getting the manager(who could’ve cared less, basically saying he was busy… I guess 2 tables are too much) he took our order. The couple that came in after us, ate, paid and left before we even got our food. We got there at 7:10pm and left at 8:40pm, and we packed up our food after two bites.(Have you ever had to wait that long in a Mexican restaurant???) My husbands food was not prepared according to the menu, however mine and my daughters was right as far as I could tell. He ordered the El Macho burrito and asked for no chicken, extra beef instead. It did not have beans and rice, as is mentioned in the menu. Even the table behind us complained that their order wasn’t right. The other server had to come over and help that table as he obviously couldn’t handle 3 tables at that time. We are never going back. Thank goodness we live near Griffin where the Mexican food is good and fast.

This place has horrible service along with a horrible manager. They do fine with smaller parties but cannot deal with parties over 4. The manager was SEVERELY rude. Took THIRTY minutes to bring out some food and then took THIRTY more to bring out 3 more people’s food. Horrible.

So, if I was going to judge my rating off of prior experiences I would have definitely given this place five stars. Well, that has definitely changed. I mean, in the past we’d deal with longer than average wait times for service and for our food to come out and sometimes crappy service. Even that was tolerable since, for the most part, the food was on point. My most recent experience was so absolutely shit-tastic that it has really been the deciding factor to never dine here again. The pregnant blonde waited on us. She wasn’t a very great waitress to begin with. We had to constantly stop her to ask her to a) take our order, b) refill our drinks, c) refill our salsa, d) bring us utensils. So basically, everything. 99% of the time she was sitting at a back table watching TV. Anywho…*insert long blonde hair in my refried beans*. Gross. Considering I have dark hair, I definitely knew it wasn’t my own hair. Long story short… the douchebag, ‘roided out manager comes by after being called over by another waitress. He postures himself at our table and gives us attitude. Raising his voice and repeating his excuse over and over. Not really attempting to solve the issue, just trying to continue to defend his server… asking us to not blame his server for the hair in our food. Number One: there was no blame, just asking for a remedy. B) How is this idiot a manager… he has zero managerial skills? Simply, a total asshole. And finally, who promoted this dick? Mesquite is aiming to lose a lot of clientele and customers should this buffoon continue to run their restaurant. I have never, ever death with nonsense of this caliber anywhere. Long story short, Mesquite, you have lost the patronage of two very loyal and very long-time customers. Including the table behind us, who heard the entire interaction and were equally disgusted. Customer Service is not an option. Especially considering that there are fifty-eleven other Mexican restaurants around here. If you value friendly and appropriate service, this is not the place to dine.

The food and service were good. Chips were thin, warm, and crispy(which I like). Only downside was the lettuce tasted soapy.

Pretty good Mexican food. Fast, friendly service. Portions are good sized. There was a line of people outside on the sidewalk waiting to get in. Good chips and salsa.

I have eating here at least once a week for 5 years and in the last two months the food has went down and the staff not the same… I suspected new owners and I was right. Have given them three times with nothing changing to the good. So good luck but sometimes making to many changes didnt work in your favor. I will drive to Locust Grove and or wait on the new Mexican restaurant to open up.

We ate here several months ago. Was disappointed to see the health score of only 80 but had already ordered before we noticed. Beer was good and cold and the margaritas looked yummy. I had the lunch fajitas and they were good, chips were fresh and crispy. This place has been open for 25 yrs so they must be doing something right!

This will be the second time I have been here and the last time was a couple months ago and the food was really good. They have street parking and in Jackson, it is free for 2 hours and this was Sunday around 5PM and parking was not a problem. They have a full bar and Draught beer thank goodness and you can get a 32 oz one. yea! They have a few domestics and of course Mexican beers. As with every Mexican restaurants, they make great margaritas. The have tables, booths and a bar that seats maybe 8 – 10 people. The chips they bring out are nice and crisp and light. Much better than many I have had at other places. I ordered a Molcajete, which has chicken, shrimp, grilled pork and steak and lots of other stuff served in a cool Volcano rock bowl. It also includes tortilla shells and a plate of beans and rice. It was huge and quite a bit for 14 dollars … enough to share. I found it very tasty but some of the meat was grisly and actually had to spit some out into a napkin. I wish I could remember the cheese and meat cheese bowl as an appetizer. IT was awesome. I added a messy picture of it… sorry… The service was great and the food was very good. I was a little concerned because some of the meat was grissly and took away from the overall experience. Overall it is a 3.5−4.0 because the quality for the price is very good. I will come again if I am in town.

Inexpensive and dependable Americanized Tex-Mex food. This place is always busy, and rightfully so. Everything on the menu is equally delicious, so order whatever you want without fear. Their desserts are surprisingly good, and their beer is surprisingly cheap. Great for large parties and people with small children. If you order take-out, be sure to call at least twenty minutes in advance, especially on the weekends.

They make the best tacos and I love the shrimp! Cheese dip is a must and they always have a friendly staff that is always around to help you. Been there more times than I can count and never been disappointed.

First time I went for lunch with the ladies from work and this place was delicious. Second time was a whole different story. Waitress was slow and not able to keep up. Anything we asked for we got way later after our food was cold. My son didn’t even get his entire meal, just a plate of 12 steamed lonely shrimp. Drinks stayed empty and food was no where near as good as it was the first time. Oh well… can’t win them all…

My husband and I ate here while traveling. We both got burritos, mine with beans/vegetarian. The food was good, the service was good, but the amount of food that we got on the lunch special was more like a snack than a meal. If it hadn’t been for the chips & salsa, we would have left quite hungry. We’ve eaten at many Mexican restaurants, and I would say the burritos were at least 30−40% smaller than what we expected.

Awesome Mexican restaurant. I have eaten at a lot of Mexican restaurants and this is one of the best. The carnitas were excellent and the chicken quesadilla was as well. The service was great and the ambiance was much nicer than we expected in a small town like Jackson. We were at a softball tournament in Monticello and drove over to eat there both days.

This place is fantastic! I wish we were in town longer to enjoy it again, but the food was great — service was excellent and the price was a steal as far as getting what you pay for! Would def recommend it!

Wowie! Who knew such a fine Mexican restaurant was in Jackson. Great service and the Molcajito(or whatever the big lava bowl of awesome meats and shrimp and cactus is called) and carnitas are fabulouso. If you’re in the area, go.

I’ve been going here to eat ever since they opened and have NEVER been treated poorly. The food is awesome, the staff is awesome, the drinks are awesome! What more could you ask for? There is always the setback that you’re bound to see some less than desirable people because of the location, but that’s expected in this town, and not the restaurant’s fault. I highly recommend the chicken fajita nachos. They’re my favorite!

Nice place in downtown Jackson. Actually this little gem is spot on from service to food. Had the Mesquite Chicken Burrito on their lunch menu. Huge portion! Rice and beans were hot and ready. The burrito was packed! Server was a young local fellow, bilingual with the rest of the staff and very good. So if you ever in Jackson(nice little town by the way) then stop by for a bite at the Mesquite! Oh yes! Beware of those darn chips! You start you will not stop!
