We traveled through on our way North. The outside patio seating was really comfortable and the atmosphere was very enjoyable. The service staff new the perfect items to recommend and everything we ordered and shared together was so fresh and delicious. Everything from the entrees to the sauces were different than just the average Mexican restaurant and that’s really what set it apart from other places we’ve been in our travels. The prices were absolutely affordable and the portions are large. The ingredients are simply some of the freshest I’ve had in a long time and I noticed they even grow their own peppers along the wall of the patio. If you are in the area or traveling through near Highway 55 it is a must stop and close to the highway.

Well I’ve been here a few times. Food is always good. I found things to be a bit salty this time though. I was prompted to write this review because of the bartender Michael. He delivered excellent customer service, was charismatic, polite, professional and expressed that he loved his job. Really gave grade A service.

The food is delicious! If you’re looking for something nicer than the average Mexican restaurant but still casual, this is the place. The patio atmosphere is great. Some menu items are average but tacos and fajitas are great! Good service for the most part as well.

Local. Good. Fresh. Jaco’s is a step up from typical Mexican and a step down from too fancy. Lots to choose from. Great place to chill and to enjoy a good taco. Try the grilled chicken! Yum!

Didn’t seem like a Mexican restaurant at all. Food was average. Service was extremely slow. Restrooms need updating.

I’ve eaten at this restaurant numerous times since it opened in 2012 and have had mostly good experiences. The food is pretty average tex-mex, but the atmosphere is the reason I kept going back. That all ended this past Saturday. I visited this restaurant after attending the Hal’s St. Paddy’s day parade and ate a late lunch. When I returned later to retrieve possessions I had left there earlier in the day, I dealt with quite possibly the RUDEST person I’ve ever encountered in the service industry. While trying to explain the situation to him(after waiting to talk to him for over 15 minutes), he continuously insulted me, refused to listen to me, and accused me of being«severely intoxicated.» I was not. It appears this individual is actually one of the owners of the establishment. Needless to say, I will not be returning, nor will I suggest this restaurant to any of my friends or coworkers.

Jacos Tacos is always a hit or miss for me. The service is pretty inconsistent. It’s either really really good or really really average. Same with the food. I ordered the Pork burrito last night(anything Mojave Pork from them is AMAZING) and it was HUGE and delicious. The pork is succulent and sweet, full of flavor. They also drench their burritos with a yummy sauce of your choice. I chose the Jalapeño Crema and it was the perfect combination of spicy and creamy. The burrito comes with 2 sides of your choice… Unfortunately they were pretty much out of every side last night(on a Sat night???), so that was pretty upsetting. I got the side vegetable and rice, which was okay. Nothing too special. I think the specialty sides that they were out of would’ve made a difference. My boyfriend ordered the steak fajitas. The server indicated that they cook all of their steak medium, but the steak we got were very well done. The onions and peppers were also half cooked, half uncooked. The skillet wasn’t even sizzling enough to finish cooking the onions and peppers. We are usually a huge fan of their fajitas so we were a tad disappointed at our order last night. I will say that for Mexican, this is on the higher price scale side. I think the best deals are their burritos— because like I said, they are huge and under $ 15! U The atmosphere is always a fun vibe. There’s seating both inside and outside. Outside seating houses some very warm heaters for the cold season. We’ve never had to wait for seating whenever we visit here. I will say that the most consistent favorite of mine here is their complimentary salsa. It’s not watery and has a delicious spicy kick. Always tastes very fresh. Speaking of chips and dip, I will warn you that their«queso» isn’t the typical yummy white queso that you get at regular Mexican restaurants, theirs is a glorified Rotel dip. Overall, this restaurant is average. It’s a fun and unique place to eat in Jackson, but there is definitely room for improvement. I think their management recognizes this and are consistently trying to restructure and improve their service. I have high hopes for Jacos Tacos!

As far as Mexican cuisine goes, Jacos tacos takes the typical, mediocre, standard Mexican restaurant and brings something new and great to the table! I tried it officially for the first time last week, and wasn’t disappointed at all. The margaritas were tasty and prepared well. The menu offers a larger variety of enchiladas, tacos, etc. all of which actually have a great, unique flavor. If you’re looking for a Mexican restaurant that doesn’t coat everything in tons of cheese for flavor, this is your place(however, it’s still very true to the south with lots of flavor filled cheese sauces!). The street corn is insane. Literally they need to sell this stuff from a food truck every day. The rice was really good as well. Personally, I loved the chicken enchiladas with the sauce that comes with it. It was of a higher quality than any other Jackson area Mexican restaurant, and I can’t wait to be back for more. Jacos Tacos is doing something great! Get downtown folks!

Good Tex Mex in a convenient downtown location! I have eaten at Jacos several times, and have enjoyed the food. They have everything from nachos to enchiladas and tacos… and lunch bowls with rice and your choice of meat. The menu is large, and you can change the meats and mixes in your order… no problem! They aim to please! The food is good, and the service is pretty fast. Prices are reasonable, and they have a full bar(I have not tried the drinks yet, as I mainly go for lunch). They have a patio as well as inside seating. And if the parking lot is full, there is more parking in back! This restaurant is in an older part of town and the building is a bit old… but I don’t hold that against good Mexican food! :) Try Jacos for some good cooking!

Not so impressed with this place. I’m from New Orleans and the place was dirty even by New Orleans standards. Maybe they were having an off day. $ 10 for guacamole at lunch I don’t think so

Love this place! Food was amazing! Try the Philly cheese steak taco, may sound odd… but I promise you won’t regret it!!! Salsa and chips are really good too!

No complaints! Best chicken quesadillas I’ve ever had. 2−4−1 margaritas every Wednesday and awesome groupon deals makes this the best tex-mex spot in Jackson!

The first time I ate at Jaco’s Tacos was over a few years ago, and I was initially unimpressed. I can’t remember specifically what it was, but nothing in particular stood out to me. Since then, I’ve been back a few times and I must admit my opinion has shifted radically. This place is actually really good! It’s a spacious, casual atmosphere with a sheltered outdoor dining area that’s just fantastic on a nice night. Located downtown, it’s a great place to hang out for a few hours over tacos and drinks. The food is really, really good. They have a wide variety of Tex-Mex style options, and they prepare everything excellently. There’s a great selection of sauces, ranging from mild to spiiiiiiicy. I’m a big fan of the pork tacos. The staff is friendly and super helpful when you’re deciding what to order. The beer selection is good and their margaritas are top notch. The crowd here varies from night to night– some nights it seems to be mostly an older crowd, but sometimes I’m surrounded by high schoolers. It’s random, but never unenjoyable. They’ve got plenty of televisions in case you’re wanting to catch a game and the bar has ample seating. It’s definitely a good place to go with a group, though I would suggest calling ahead if it’s a Friday or Saturday night.

The atmosphere is really awesome. I’ve been here a few times, most recently on a cool breezy evening. They have a sheltered, yet outdoor dining area that feels like no other place in Jackson. There is a big upstairs balcony when it is busy too. The food is very good, it’s a little more creative and more carefully prepared than your standard Tex-Mex around here. The enchiladas are very good and have a selection of fresh sauces to put on them. The beans and rice are very tasty too! They have a perfectly acceptable beer and margarita selection which is all you need. They are pretty flexible in the kitchen and will let you mix and match your enchiladas or tacos. The main drawback is that some of the menu is a little pricey compared to other tex-mex. Compared to restaurants in general, they are reasonably priced. However I usually just expect Tex-Mex to be very cheap. On the other hand, they run specials fairly often, so you can do this cheaply if you try!

Visited here again since my last review. Still not cutting it, unfortunately. It seems like there are some really hard workers here, then some that just don’t care. The food was good, but the service is what’s lacking. Also, the men’s bathroom was a mess with the trash overflowing. I will bump it up to 3 stars from 2. Hopefully they’ll get it together soon.

One of Jackson’s best kept secrets. Looking at Jaco’s from the outside won’t impress but don’t be fooled by the rough exterior – these people make a mean Mexican meal. Take the dive. My personal favorites and personal recommendations are the guacamole and the fried chicken tacos. I’ve been going to Jacos with my mother for several years now since they opened. In my experience this far they just continue to improve. All the ingredients are fresh and all the food has a special Jaco’s flair. Any trip home from college isn’t complete without dropping by to get my guac and tacos. If Jaco’s struggles with one thing it’s consistency. Don’t get me wrong – the food is always good. But sometimes it’s good whereas other times it’s the BEST. You just have to get lucky and hope you drop by on a good day, but as of late the good days far outnumber the bad. Same thing with service – sometimes the service is great and everyone’s on task but other days(especially if they’re packed) they struggle a bit to make rounds quick enough. All in all though, when it comes down to food and atmosphere you can’t do much better. This ain’t your typical Mexican joint. This is the best taco in town.(And the enchiladas aren’t half bad either.)

This was the first time here & pleasantly surprised. I had the lunch size steak rice bowl & could not finish it. Enough left over for a snack later. Better part was it was delicious. The staff was attentive & service prompt. Great experience.
