Friendly bouncer & bartender. Great folk music playing, good sound, nice stage. Mojito was so-so, but served in a cool mason jar glass, so they get an extra star. Smelled a little funky in there; and a not nice funky. There’s a large back deck over the water. Probably nice in warmer weather. Billiards for $ 1.

Taco special is dank. 3 juicey tacos under ten. They customized it at no extra cost as well. Nice pool table and live music with a outdoor area to blaze cigs or bullshit. Everything I need thanks.

An update: The door staff is awesome, as is the new(ish) female bartender that used to(or maybe still does) work at the rhine house. Mike is still terrible and once again last night i heard many customers complaining about him. The music they get has been good and its very cool to see reggae night become a success every week.

okay let’s reverse the trend and try to explain things just a bit. This place(the name has changed several times over the years) is a musical institution in Ithaca. It is a heavily locals joint. The reason there may be these one stars reviews is that sometimes people come to Ithaca from other obviously larger and arguably more sophisticated cities, and expect certain things: like not to be screamed at by a bouncer when you are a nicely dressed lady, or not be treated with indifference by the bartenders. Well… that is fair. But it may or may not happen here. Ithaca is a strange land. Realize you are not in kansas(or manhattan/long island/jersey) anymore. The biggest plus about this place is the great sampling of Ithaca’s ever-mighty local music scene that it provides. At the weekly reggae night you will see multiple artists who have albums in the top ten on Billlboard Reggae charts, all collaborating and jamming together(free-no cover i might add). The dance floor and stage set-up is as close to great musicians as you may ever get. Come here, you may have to wait in line. You may not get instant recognition from your bartenders. But if you just chill out(smoking on the back deck), respect the people around you, and listen to the music, you should have a mighty fine time.

After a wonderful dinner at a nearby restaurant(The Boatyard) my friends and I walked to The Dock to see a show. We heard there was a great funk band playing that night. The line was really long and moving slowly but we patiently waited the 15 or so minutes until the first person in our party reached the bouncer. We had a large group(13) and wanted to see if we could all get in together as it seemed they were slowing down the entries. My sister asked the bouncer a question when she reached him and he SCREAMED in her face. Picture this… a group of late 20’s early 30’s super nicer women just wanted to go hear music an a angry man screaming at this group of women… we weren’t drunk. like i said we came from a nice dinner. He screamed and then another man came out and screamed with him«ID and CASHOUTORGETTHE F*CKOUTOFLINE» again and again he screamed. Im pretty sure if a cop was there they would have gotten involved. This man was out of control. I recommend you take your business elsewhere. We took our group of 13 to Lot 10 where we had the time out of lives. Fun people everyone so kind. The bouncer at lot 10 especially NIGHTANDDAY from this place. Don’t give your money to jerks — go somewhere else.

This establishment needs to replace its bouncing staff. I was in line here Saturday night(5⁄31) when I met the bouncer(stocky white guy with glasses). He was so aggressive, rude and quite honestly scary, it completely rattled our entire group. He screamed in my face for asking a question to the point that I genuinely felt threatened. I would advise bands and consumers to go else where. This is no way to treat people, let alone people trying to spend money at your establishment.
