I was very impressed with the knowledge the staff(owners?) have about their shoes and the mechanics of the body. Methinks about 15 minutes, Lisa was able to recommend a pair of shoes based on what I described as my foot issues, and what she observed in how I walked. She nailed it. The quality of the products they carry is very high and the prices are commiserate and on par with other stores and online. I recommend them without hesitation.

Great service, VERY knowledgeable staff, they offer workshops on running, and are a solid part of the Ithaca community. Pricy but understandable(I add the level of service to the price and they will watch you walk and make excellent shoe suggestions, allow you to run in them, and look at how you walk/run in them), shoe selection is excellent, clothing selection is OK. Now called the«Finger Lakes Running & Triathlon Company», they have the gear to back-up the name. Their web-site is pretty sparse and a bit awkward. Overall an excellent shop. I wouldn’t buy running shoes anywhere else in the area.

Great service. There are bike fitting(triathlon) and running for classes offered at no cost as well as a running group that meets a couple times week there. I made use the treadmill/video system to be matched up with sneakers that best corrected my ‘over pronating’.

I haven’t been much of a runner until very recently so I never really paid attention to what kind of shoes I bought or where I bought them from. However, after my first half-marathon a couple weeks ago, I’m hooked and decided it was time to kick off my full marathon training with a new pair of running shoes. Although I usually grab a pair of Nikes from the mall, I have a history of shin issues and the pain was starting to come back so I listened to my coworker’s suggestion and headed to Finger Lakes Running Company. I ended up talking to three different people on three different days before I bought a pair but everyone was super friendly, super knowledgeable, and super helpful! They were very attentive to all my concerns/questions and made sure I was 100% comfortable in my decision. To this end, they analyzed my foot/stride, explained the potential hows & whys of my shin pain, looked at my previous shoe, gave me a huge range of shoes to try on, and let me test run each shoe outside. I ended up buying a pair of Mizuno Wave Rider 12s and had a really good run breaking them in. Ian(the owner) also gave me a complimentary FLRC running shirt(that matches my shoes! priorities, you know?). Although the buying process took longer than expected, it was one of the best service experiences I’ve had and I’m as hooked on FLRC as I am on running!
