The Eastside is blessed to have such a wonderful venue for art and artists. The gallery is always brimming with new and exciting pieces all by local artists working in a wide variety of mediums. And for those wanting inspiration and guidance, the array of classes and workshops is wonderful. Love artEAST!

Up Front Art is a coop in a charming Issaquah neighborhood and organized by artists around the area. They offer art pieces for sale(possibly rotating art work depending on which ones they are selling) as well as educational art classes for general community. My friend and I had a chance to browse through the store one evening and found the work quite interesting. The volunteer person(who also helped manage the store) was also helpful, friendly and happy to answer any questions that we had. I noticed much of the work on display/sale was more so mixed media paintings and small ornaments, some mixed media jewelley, house furniture and accessories… and less so sculpture, drawing, etc. Bought a pair of earrings($ 38) and keychain($ 20) made out of glass/ceramic media… and they were cute. This is a good place to drop by to enjoy art and pass time if you are ever around this area.

I stopped in this gallery/boutique because they were having an opening, which turned out to be a networking event thrown by the Issaquah Chamber of Commerce. Everyone we spoke with was very welcoming and excited about the gallery. There were some really nice jewelry pieces in there, for very affordable prices(beautiful necklace with semiprecious stones for $ 45). They also offered vases, household objects, and paintings in the back. They also had a few stations in back for participatory clay art so there was someone spinning pottery on a wheel, another person carving designs into clay, etc. The buffet at this event was amazing. If we hadn’t just stuffed our faces at Jak’s we would have had a freeloading field day! We were so full we only sampled some local chocolates, which were beautiful and delicious. I think they sell these packaged in the store, and they were delicious and gift-quality. This seems like a fun place to have downtown!
