I am somewhere between 3 and 3−½ stars on this one — but we can’t do half stars so I am «rounding down» to 3. The diner itself isn’t «bad»(it didn’t appear dirty or anything) but it was exceptionally… «Tacky»? While some may appreciate the decorations I felt they were just a little over the top. Too much for me. That’s just my opinion. Everyone has one. :) So for me I think it’s 2 stars for the«ambiance». The service was … I’m actually not sure what it was. The waiter was a bit of a «character». Its possible that he was trying hard(maybe too hard) to be funny, but our gang didn’t really appreciate the sarcastic looks and remarks.(He did get the order mostly right.) So let’s go 3 stars on the service. The food was … Good. Not great, just good. I had an egg white omelette with spinach and Swiss cheese. I’ve had better. I’ve had worse. The home fries were good. The rye toast was toasted nicely — not burnt. Others at the table had banana pancakes, a Belgian waffle with strawberries, a chicken Caesar salad, matzoh ball soup. Everything appeared to be good. I heard no complaints(but no raves either). So I think 4 stars for the food. So the average is about 3 — though I think the food at a restaurant is more important than the décor(again, just an opinion). Anyway, it’s a fine place for a quick sandwich, a bowl of soup, some pancakes, or a burger with fries.

I had dinner at this joint on Long Island last night and it was great. It was basically a classic NY style diner. It was very busy, we were seated immediately and taken care of nicely. I ordered the Veal Piccata which was delicious, and honestly, there was about 2 or 3 meals worth of food. The price was 25 bucks, but again, I just ate the leftovers. Outside of that, the owner of the restaurant came to our table and talked to us, sent out a free dessert to everyone, and really took good care of the table. I would come here again any time. There were literally probably a hundred menu items to choose from.

Heaven isn’t too far away, closer to it everyday… 1st time, long time. Great diner/restaurant on the south shore in Suffolk county. Went for breakfast this morning. Excellent. Eggs cooked to perfection, French toast and potatoes done right, coffee good too. Win win win. Place was packed which is always a good sign. Love the interior decorator. Spoke briefly with one of the owners, nice guy with the heart of a lion. For 13 years I called the hauppauge palace diner home, I think I just bought another home 10 miles away!!!

I’ve been going to this Diner since I was a little kid and it’s definitely my favorite. The owners and the waiters/waitresses always make you feel welcome and are very friendly. Their really isn’t a meal that I’ve had here that I didn’t like. Breakfast I usually go for the Western Omelette or Eggs Benedict. Lunch and Dinner vary, but the French Onion Soup here is to die for. Burgers, Big Texan, Pasta, Rubens, etc all so good.

The OCoNee is the prototypical, seminal Long Island diner experience. The first thing you will notice is the big sign in front hinting at Native American origins of its mysterious name. Then the over-the-top décor for whatever holiday is next approaching. Flowers, flags, skeletons, or whatever is appropriate is proudly displayed in the front parking lot, lobby, and, I nside, from every light fixture and window. The front door manager keeps the crowds moving and tables filled, somehow remembering the order in which everyone arrived, and gets everyone seated remarkably quickly considering the constant crowds. Then the menu, a veritable tome of all foods Diner, from pasties io to fried shrimp to all day breakfast to chicken soup to cheeseburger deluxe. Most of the waitstaff is very friendly, especially the owner(?) Who comes around with cookies and lollipops. The food is always good and portions quite plentiful, though prices are quite high.

This place is the golden standard that all diners should be measured against. This place exemplifies the Three G’s: Great service, great prices and great portions. The restaurant is always festive decorated to whatever the nearest major holiday is, and when I say decorated I mean DECORATED. Check it out if you want a weekend bite with the family, you’ll enjoy it.

We went there after being at the local courthouse and I remember seeing it voted as bethpages best of Long Island diner. It was absolutely beautiful you decorating for St. Patrick’s Day I cant imagine how they do that for every holiday! Amazing. They start you off with a basket of bread, a pasta salad, cookies and lollipops. Whenever I go to the diner or anywhere that offers breakfast anytime of day … I cannot get anything else but that ;I love breakfast. I get the same thing every time I order breakfast out. You would think it’s pretty easy to make egg white omelette and they’re all the same but I’ve had some pretty awful omelettes. This one was full of all the ingredients I asked for throughout the omelette and it was cooked perfectly. Thumbs up to the chef I was impressed and I am a pretty big critic when it comes to my egg whites. My sister got the Thanksgiving wrap which looks delicious and she was very happy and loved the french fries which were extra good she said. Our waitress was on top of things and attentive quick to attend to us and refill things on her own. Overall I would go back for their food, and overall service and just to see what the inside looks like for the next holiday

Typical diner with large portions, large menu and loads of customers cramming in to grab some food. This place is known for their out of this world decorations and oh yeah, they give you free chocolate chip cookies. Don’t expect soft and chewy deliciousness. Don’t complain, they were free.

You always get seated right away and treated like family. The service is quick enough to have a full meal on your lunch break but if you want to hang there for 3 hours they will never rush you. Great food served by great people

Just finished eating there… And just finished throwing up after eating the terrible Spanish omelette(eggs with worse than store-bought salsa slathered in between). Will not be returning.

I’ve stopped here before but this last time won’t let me ever forget it. No other place was open, this place was and the staff were extremely kind. When you go to a place right before closing and the food is fantastic, you know they’re good!

Great Long Island/NY diner. Staff are super friendly, service is fast, but you are never rushed out when finished, and of course the food is great. Whether you just want a burger and fries, or you want a nice traditional Greek dish, everything is top notch, fresh, and reasonably priced. No matter what you end up going with, you can’t really go wrong, in fact the only mistake you can possibly make is by not leaving room for one of the many deserts you can choose. Cakes, cookies, pies, Baklava… mmmmmm!

There’s noting not to love about this diner. I called(from a funeral home) to see if 15 of us could be seated in 30 minutes-they said ok. I was skeptical if they would be ready for us. I was wrong. Table was set up w bread, lollipops and cookies waiting. Service was outstanding! Within 5 minutes of being there we had ordered drinks & had complementary pasta salad on the table. Once we placed our orders-we were given 2 huge plates of delicious chicken teriyaki & baked clams-also complimentary. Huge portions! Delicious food. Friendly and attentive staff! Oh and I’m not sure if we were celebrating Christmas or thanksgiving in there but regardless the décor was so fun. Tons to look at-lots of lights. Love this place. Love the atmosphere-The staff and the food. These people know how to run a business & keep customers happy Try the: French onion soup Mozzarella sticks Chicken Parmesan Pasta!!!

Surprised? Yeah. I kinda was. First: good food near the Federal Courthouse in Central Islip. The Eastern District is a better place as a result. Second: cool decorations. It was Halloween and the place was decked out like there was going to be a party. Third: did I say the food was good? Really good. I had a shake and a Reuben and I was more than happy. Tasty and plentiful. I couldn’t finish all of mine and I’m a big boy. Fourth: service was prompt and friendly. I tipped big. I didn’t want to like the place. I did. Eat there. It’s good.

My favorite diner on Long Island by far! The place is always busy — weeknight /2am munchies /Sunday brunch — it’s pumping out the good eats. We come here since its local at least twice a month if not more. My favorites are the chicken finger platter — the salmon dinner plate — the croissant sandwich — the big texan sandwich — the Oconee wrap and of course their breakfast. My photos here are from a recent weekend breakfast — their omelettes are the best — get the home-fries well done! Last but not least the service here is always friendly and they put out all the stops when you go here for dinnertime seating. A huge bread basket with rolls and breadsticks, macaroni salad with beans and cookies, all complementary. Your gonna leave with leftovers for sure.

This place was packed around 2:30pm on a Saturday. There was no wait what so ever for a table. We shared a French Onion Soup. Wasn’t to bad. I ordered the Chicken Greek Wrap that came with fries. It was pretty good, but not what I’m use too. There was only feta, lettuce, cucumber, and green bell pepper in it. Also carrots which was odd. A vinaigrette dressing came on it that was good. That was $ 11.50. Never paid over $ 9.50 for a wrap at a diner before. I’ve also never been to a diner where we didn’t get coleslaw and a pickle with our meal. I’m pretty sure they just forgot to bring it out. My fiancé said his burger was just average. Pretty sure the only thing that stands out about this place is obviously the décor. Otherwise it’s your typical diner food. $ 34 bill for my meal, a cheeseburger deluxe, 2 drinks, and a French onion.

HAS to be one of the most popular diners on Long Island, without a doubt! If you don’t like this place, it has to be because your taste-buds were burned off. I have been coming here for years upon years, and share so many memories with family, friends, out of town friends, and co-workers. The service in this diner is on time, courteous, and sociable, even when my friends/family and I have come stumbling in at 3AM, no doubt very drunk, we were treated very well. I give the staff so much credit for the amount of decorations they put up for every holiday, THAT is a sight in itself! This place holds so much sentimental value and nostalgia for me, and for many Long Islanders, East Islip/Islip citizens, it’s incredible! Favorites include: chocolate milkshake, amaretto sours, any of the pancakes or omelettes, gyros, salads, cheeseburgers, grilled cheese, French onion soup and matzo ball soup. You MUST get the cole slaw… love. love, love it. Great coffee as well. Iconic, incredible diner of Long Island. Have NO hesitations about coming here!
