Booked two rooms here way back in September for Northern Michigan’s graduation weekend in May. I even paid for both rooms at that time. Upon checking in, we were told by one of the front desk personnel that one of the rooms had not been paid. Fortunately the other woman working at the desk knew what was what and told him that the rooms had in fact been paid. While at the front desk we picked up the local map that they had available and asked where we were on the map but they didn’t know! ? We then headed off to our rooms. Which though we booked two rooms at the same time, where not next to each other or even on the same floor! We tried our key card and got a green light but it wouldn’t open. We tried our second card and got the same result. The same front desk person that told us that we hadn’t paid came to help. First he said we were trying the card too fast. Okay we went slower. Didn’t work. He says«go faster» same result. No entry, Then he tries. No luck. Tries his master card. No way. Then takes out some real keys. With some fiddling around with those he finally gets the door open and says«here you go». What?! No way! The door obviously doesn’t work. We need a different room. Well, he responds, we are fully booked. But not everybody had checked in and we don’t want to keep having a problem getting into our room. I made it very clear that this was completely unacceptable and we were provided a different room. When booking we(from the hotel consolidator) that the hotel had certain amenities, like free wifi, continental breakfast, outdoor pool and fitness center. The free wifi was easily accessible. The breakfast was actually a coupon to be used at the diner next door. It was a really great deal! You have four options that provide you more than enough food and variety. Kudos on that! The outdoor pool was actually an indoor pool and hot tub. Even better! There is no fitness center on premises. They provide you a coupon to a nearby health club. My husband asked the front desk where it was located and got very poor directions. It took him some time to find it. Then when he got there, found it had closed an hour before.(4 o’clock on Saturdays) The front desk should be able to provide better directions and be aware of the hours operation. Our room was very noisy from pipes. The sleep comfort was poor, mostly due to really hard, stiff, lumpy and thick pillows.
