I just wanted to take the time to let everyone know about my awesome experience at Cargo Eye Care. The front staff was very friendly and personable and my experience with Dr. Cargo was by far the best. I highly recommend Cargo Eye Care to anyone who lives in or near the Irving/Las Colinas Area. I apologize in advance for the story book I’m about to write but here is a little bit about my experience there. A couples days before Christmas, I took out my contacts and immediately my eye started burning really bad, and wouldn’t stop watering. It got to the point to where it hurt to even try to open up my eye, I couldn’t take the pain anymore so I had to see a doctor, ASAP! I found Cargo Eye Care online and noticed they had very good reviews so I called and told them about my situation and they said they could get me in right away. After Dr. Cargo took a closer look at my eye, he knew exactly what was causing the pain/discomfort. It turns out I had an ulcer on my cornea. He was very knowledgeable about the condition and educated me more about the ulcer. Dr. Cargo prescribed a couple eye drop medications along with instructions for at-home treatment. Well, for some reason after using the eye drops only for that day and night, my eye got worse. Early that next morning, my eye was completely swollen shut and I was in even more pain, I couldn’t even sleep at all that night. When I looked at my eye in the mirror and lifted my eyelid with my fingers, my eye was bloodshot red and I couldn’t even see my hand in front of my face, I thought for sure that I lost all my vision out of my eye and I was blind. I completely freaked out and emailed Dr. Cargo and told him what was going on with my eye. He responded and want me to come in that day so he could take a look at it. So I went over there preparing myself for the worst. Dr. Cargo took a look at my eye again and told me that this ulcer is pretty serious and I needed to increase amount of medication and drops I was putting in my eye, by A LOT, in order for it to start getting a little better. I was supposed to leave Christmas morning and fly out to Arizona with my family for vacation. But since my eye was in critical condition, he highly recommended that I don’t go on my trip and stay in the area that way I could get the proper care I needed for my eye and monitor it the next few days. So I ended up staying here in town for Christmas, it was fine with me because at this point I would do anything to get my vision back and do whatever it took for my eye to be back to normal. Over the next couple days, Dr. Cargo texted me just to check up on my eye, which I highly appreciated! On Christmas Eve, I got text message from Dr. Cargo to see if I could come in to check how my eye was doing and make sure everything was okay. It was Christmas Eve, his day off and the office was closed; but he still came in and opened up just for me. What other doctor would do that?! By him doing that for me, it showed showed how much he cares about his patients. My eye was slowly healing, but we were making progress. I had to start aggressively treating my eye every 30 minutes with different medications for the next day or so and then he wanted to met up one more time to see how the healing went after his recommended treatment. So on another one of Dr. Cargo’s days off(Day after Christmas), he wanted me to come in again for another check-up on the eye. I woke up that morning and was so relieved because my vision was starting to clear up, thank god! When I met up with Dr. Cargo that day, everything seemed like it was headed towards the right direction. He referred me to a great Cornea Specialist after that for a check-up and now I am almost completely healed! Dr. Cargo is a doctor that truly cares about his patients and definitely committed to providing the best service he can to his patients and I love that! I’ve experienced many eye doctors and Dr. Cargo is hands down, the best I’ve had! I will definitely be going back regularly for my eye exams!

Dr. Cargo’s office is very efficient and well-run. Appointments are easy to schedule and your benefits are explained prior to your exam. They run specials on frames and lenses and work with most insurance companies. He offers advanced testing and electronic records. A small but quality selection of frames, average of 7 – 10 days to get the finished glasses.

I used to go to this practice a few years ago and went back after switching employers. I was happy to come back since they were usually very helpful, the Dr. was friendly and patient. The experience was pretty good until it was time to pay my what I thought was, $ 20 co-payment. I’m really upset that I drove over on my lunch break from Dallas to Irving. I was charged an additional $ 30 for a dry eye exam that was not properly explained to me. And I don’t even have dry eyes! Really sucks because I planned on purchasing a pair of glasses but after this experience, I won’t be back and you won’t get another dime from me.

Everything about this place is easy and smooth. Friendly and efficient staff, and a great doctor. Feel a little rushed sometimes — something that can be looked into.

Service was less than fair and a little pricey. The people running the office are lacking in customer service. I called and made my appointment for a new prescription and verified my coverage at that time. During the exam he told me I had dry eyes and wrote me a prescription for some overpriced drops that weren’t covered by my insurance. I had no discomfort or complaint. Since they did a «medical diagnosis» without my knowledge or consent, my insurance denied the whole claim and I was out even more money. Cargo has not responded to any requests to resolve this matter despite several phone calls and personal visits. They should have informed me that there would be a change in the coverage. Needless to say I never got the drops or had any discomfort. I feel it was just bill padding. Beware!

My husband is a patient here bc he has to see a eye specialist and there we found Cargo Eye Care. I never cared for the high priced visits but reserved my opinions only bc I figured specialists charge more bc they’re entitled too. However, when it came to ordering contact lens(RGB lens) he asks for prior payment or they won’t order them. Just a word of advice those lens are extremely uncomfortable and my husband has lost 6 pairs from messing with them bc they’re so bothersome on the eye. The lens cost $ 200 each so figure out the math on how much we have spent. Well the last time I went to pick them up the front staff had agreed to mail them and they didn’t. That made me extremely angry with their office and respect for the girls that didn’t do their job. Unfortunately, my husband has lost another lens and his job in construction doesn’t help, but I’m dreading to order another lens from Cargo but I don’t know where else to go. Anyone have suggestions or recommend a different doctor?

Staff here is just amazing, so friendly patient and helpful. Dr was courteous. I went in March for my yearly eye exam. Picked this place as it was close to my office and the reviews were good. By May my prescription seemed useless so I went back for re-check to make sure my lens were the correct prescription. My vision had changed some and they were courteous enough to order new lens at no charge which was greatly appreciated. In the next thirty days my vision was HORRIBLE. I could not read a license plate in front of me and driving at night was out of the question. I went back for another re-check and was told my vision had not changed and the prescription lens were correct. After another week of so of driving and not feeling safe I went to an Ophthalmologist recommend by a friend. Well the cause of my vision problem was cataracts. One in each eye. I guess I just cant understand why this eye doctor wouldnt have even thought of that, or mentioned it, or sent me to an Ophthalmologist. Granted my age was not the normal age for cataracts but the Ophthalmologist found the cataracts the first 5 min’s of my appointment with him. I have now had both cataracts removed and corrective lens’s implanted and can feel safe about driving.

Plus, in their office newsletter, they offer $ 20 for anyone who posts a review on Google… This goes against Review Posting Guidelines. Shame Shame Shame…

Dr Cargo is a forward thinking, very bright optometrist. He takes extreme care in his analysis of the tests that his people administer and then does a very thorough exam himself. He has the best technology available and has discovered weakness in my eyes that needed further investigation(which no one else has caught). For my mother-in-law who is 90, he and his team did an amazing job of doing the evaluation tests with a person who could hardly sit up straight enough to reach the machines. He then did an incredible job of analyzing her needs and making her vision as good as it could be. Dr Cargo is a true professional. I saw the really bad evaluation from someone from Plano. I think she should probably go back to Plano where someone will continually suck up to her and make her feel like someone she isn’t. The staff at Cargo are just good people trying to do a good job without a lot of bs. They are all nice people and really want to help.

DONOTGOHERE! Seriously, if you can avoid it you should. I have seen Dr. Cargo twice now, in the 3 years I have worked in the Irving area. I went here due to convenience, and the fact that my regular Optometrist office is in Plano. Honestly I can say I have had such great service at the Plano office, that I guess I am spoiled, because the way they do things here at this office is just backwards! First of all, upon entering the first time, I walked up to the counter nearest me(common sense right?), only to be snubbed by the lady sitting at her computer. Finally after standing there, the girl on the other side of the office says I can come over there. Ok, odd, but oh well. Then they proceed to tell me that additional screenings will be an out of pocket cost, because they aren’t covered in the normal screening(same procedures at Plano office, no cost). I asked if they could waive that since it should be included in a standard practice of care? She said you would have to ask the dr about it but you have to pay before you go back. Since then I have had to take my contacts back to them because they were diagnosed wrong, plus they charged my personal health insurance as well as my eye insurance(double pay?) and when I called to ask them about it they said because I came in with a problem on my eye? I just came in for a regular check up. To make it worse, after charging both of my insurance plans, they sent me a bill for $ 10 because I short payed my co-pay. When I called about this they said because they had to bill my health insurance for a medically necessary treatment(again — regularly scheduled maintenance), my copay was higher for my health insurance than my regular eye insurance, and they wouldn’t waive it! I don’t know about you, but something is wrong with this place… Back to Plano Eye Associates(Dr. DeLoach rocks!)

My wife brought me here to get a check up because I was starting to squint when I was watching the TV. I got there and Dr. Cargo was really nice and listen to everything I had to say. All of his staff was really cool and he has state of the art rooms for his patients. Well, it turns out I needed glasses and I ended up buying a pair of Nike(regular glasses) and a pair of Maui Jim’s(sunglasses). Overall my experience was great and I will be going back for my next check up. This place is super nice and I would recommend this eye doctor to anyone that is in the area. Peace Out MZ
