Wet Dog Scuba & Photo

My brother and dad just got certified through this place. They did the whole course online, which consisted of watching videos and taking quizzes… and the final exam. They did the pool sessions at the YMCA in Newport Beach and the beach dives were in Redondo Beach. The beach dives were originally going to be in Laguna Beach, but this changed due to large surf there that weekend. Michael and Suzie were the instructors and they were excellent. They were both patient and encouraging. I recommend Wet Dog Scuba for anyone that wants to get scuba certified.

Really nice people. Very helpful and friendly. They have a good selection of underwater housings and had the small part I needed for my Ikelite.

I recently completed my NAUI SCUBA Diver course through Wet Dog SCUBA. I’ve been wanting to get SCUBA certified for quite some time and finally upon hearing they had a Groupon, I decided to do it. The instructors, Clarke and Michael, were very patient and friendly. The course consisted of a 3 hour orientation and two weekends of diving. The first weekend consisted of pool diving at the Newport Beach YMCA and the second weekend consisted of ocean diving at Shaw’s Cove in Laguna Beach.
I was tempted at first to go do a PADI course like some of my other friends have done through other dive shops that you’ll see on Living Social or Groupon, but I’m glad I went through Wet Dog SCUBA. I purchased a majority of my gear through their shop and received a nice discount. Clarke was very thorough in finding the right gear that would suit our needs and also made sure everything fit us perfectly. Gear that was not purchased (mask, snorkel, fins, gloves, booties, bag) were rented through the shop (wet suit, hood, BCD, tanks, weights).
Overall, I had a very enjoyable experience with the SCUBA certification course and awesome customer service from Clarke and his lovely assistant Heather in selecting the right SCUBA gear. They had a good amount of underwater photography equipment for sale as well as spear guns. I’ll definitely be using them in the future to continue my diver education and purchasing more gear as I get more experience.
