Another 5k added to the resume. This was actually a 3 parter. The first two were during Halloween and Thanksgiving respectively. If you complete all 3 you get this special super duper medal. I, however, found out late and was only able to sign up for this one. They offer a 5k, 10k and maybe a kid race too. The trail is awesome. Its entirely a flat surface, no obstacles at all which does me wonders. The only downside is the trail’s road is a bit small so its tough for so many people to be running but somehow it worked out and I did pretty good considering I hadn’t run a 5k in about 4 months. I came through with a couple of my pals(Nguyen N. and Lena) as I find it more fun when doing a 5k with my friends. Plus if I collapse and need to be carried off, thats their job ahahaha. Parking isn’t too bad either. They said that we needed to park at Beckman High School and take the shuttle bus to get Hickman elementary but I pretty much just parked at the Albertson’s parking lot and hoped that my car wouldn’t get towed. The walk from there was about 5 minutes, not too bad at all. Overall it was a really good event and I got a medal too but just not that super duper one I mention earlier. Oh wells, next year…

Renegade events are sharp; and the Santa Run, offering both 10K and 5K options, is proof. Not only are they well-themed and family-friendly – a lot of fun for both casual runners/walkers and those seeking possible PR’s(get to the front!) – but Renegade Racing is also shouldered with plenty of super-cool vendor support: free tote bags from Nissan, free jerky from Oberto’s, free flavored coconut water from Coco Libre, free pizza slices from BJ’s, free fig bars from Nature’s Bakery, free chocolate milk from Nesquick, free protein bars from Strong & Kind, free protein water from Protein 2o, and goodie bags including Clif bars, Irish Spring hydration samples, and further discounts from Sports Authority, local business massages, and upcoming races.(Of course, bananas are available as well.) And the Expo freebies list continues… The Santa Run itself is also a lot of fun: affordable registration and chip-timed results; Holiday music and a Santa meet-and-greet; a comfortably flat pace and a scenic course throughout beautiful residentials and the Peter’s Canyon bike trail. And added: Mile markers and aid stations, plentiful and well-positioned along the route; long-sleeved Renegade Santa Run T-shirts; holiday costume contests(including best running Santa); special awards, three deep and according to age groups; and, my favorite, a commemorative Troutman Sanders Renegade Santa Run Christmas ornament at the FINISHLINE! This wasn’t my first Renegade Racing run. I’ve been to many. And if the Santa Run is any indication as to how much fun future Renegade events will be – you can bet that it is – running Renegade will continue to be a favorite of mine. Happy Holidays!

I would have to say that this is one well organized event! Hmmmm… the only event I’ve participated in that’s actually easy to understand. Parking with shuttle?! Great! Course were muddy but only due to the rain and each volunteer knew exactly where to direct us. I mean, there have been a few events that I’ve participated in that I couldn’t even find my way back! I really enjoyed the course, light and easy. The #Renegades(not sure if that’s what they’re called) were marching in unison and made it very relaxing… well for me. Can’t speak for others. All the vendors were extremely nice and I almost signed up for a timeshare seminar… but I bounced back to reality from my daydreaming of a mini vacation and a free bottle out wine. Thank you to Troutman Renegade! You’ve been exceptionally accommodating and extremely fun! Can’t wait for our next 10K!

Extremely well-organized event! I entered the 10k race, although they have a 5k and a kids’ fun run as well. The course is clearly marked and there are volunteers making sure you don’t go off course at junctions, as well as ton of volunteers at the water stations handing out cups of water, and more scattered along the course singing Christmas songs and giving people high-fives. So good job volunteers, you guys were all great. The medal was gorgeous, the course was really scenic and pretty, and Santa was there for photo opportunities. The expo was pretty small, with awesome vendors, but they ran out of stuff to try pretty quickly. They gave out a long-sleeved cotton t-shirt, which I didn’t think was very appropriate, as it was a pretty warm day, and cotton doesn’t wick sweat very well. Also, the bibs were really long. But overall, I had a ton of fun and thoroughly enjoyed the event.
