Not the worst, not the best, but it’s one of the few places we got for Mexican food in Irvine… Street tacos are good but you need to buy $ 15 worth. The first 1 and a half fish tacos are good, then you’ll grow sick of the taste, always served like warm. Black beans are good. Staff is pretty good.

Love Rubio’s! I got a catering order with them a few weeks ago for my sorority. Ordering it online was very easy. They got everything perfect and were also very flexible when I added something to the order the same day I was going to pick it up. They put the trays in bags and helped me carry them to my car. And of course the food was delicious! Thank you so much!

Came here with my boyfriend for lunch because I was craving fish tacos. Honestly disappointed. Del taco has better fish tacos. I ordered mix and match plater I got to 2 fish tacos and chips. its $ 7 and some change. I was just more upset that they gave me soggy fish tacos and they were cold. It wasn’t even flavorful. I’m debating whether I should call management to get my money back.

Great place to get some shrimp, fish or lobster tacos! The salsa bar is pretty cool too.

I came here today and was served by Renae. She is a vibrant and knowledgeable and really kind. One of the menu items comes with bacon and Renae kindly notified me. I got the Ancho shrimp burrito and it was well made and filling. The service here is really good. Staff is kind. Food is not a 5 but not a 3. I give it 4 stars for good food but even better service.

Ranae made our visit very enjoyable! Someone else made our order incorrectly and she went above and beyond to correct it and make sure we were happy. Very pleasant, positive, customer service. Thanks Ranae!!!

Hands down best Rubio’s location in the area. I’ve been to both of the Rubios on MacArthur and they’ve always fell short(burritos were much smaller, salsa bar was a mess, chips were stale). But this location is always on point :) We come here at least twice a month!

I accidentally signed up for Rubio’s email list at an event and received an email a few days before my birthday for a free entrée. Nice to try a new place for free. The girl at the counter told me I could choose any single entrée up to $ 10, which means almost any entrée on the menu. The Coastal Trio $ 8.99 I liked the Tilapia Taco and the Fish Taco in it. The Shrimp Taco was good but the sauce was too salty. Will come back to try other items on the menu.

Went here with my assistant for a late lunch and we decided we were in the mood for some Rubios. The restaurant was clean and veery inviting. The girl behind the counter welcomed us as soon as we walked in the door. The food present ration was outstanding and the quality was great. I ordered the Grilled Shrimp Burrito with extra shrimp and a large side of Mexican Rice. As always it tasted great! Definitely a go to place for me, not everyday as prices are on the higher end of my lunch budget but well worth the splurge every now and again!

I’ve always been happy with this location. Service is friendly and doesn’t mess up my orders lol… I feel like this location is a lot more efficient than some of the others. Needless to say this is my favorite one,… I always order the health mex chicken burrito. Under 500 calories and super bomb! Chips and salsa are good too

The fish tacos were bomb!!! The shrimp tacos were also really good. The rice and beans weren’t that great. I didn’t like the metal forks and my girlfriend thought the food was poorly made. I’m a fish lover and I’ll definitely be back Tuesday’s for 2 dollar fish tacos.

Freshest, fast Mexican food. Nice that they serve beer. I’ll pick this over Wahoos, baja fresh, chipotle and taco bell any day. But for me, they’re only competition is del taco, can’t beat those prices. LOL

I love Rubios and will go there any chance I can get. I’ve been going to Rubios for fish tacos since… at least 1990. No complaints here. Loved the fish taco especial combination as always.

I order through Restaurant on the Run but… the catering packaging and pricing is perfect! I order from this place because in every aspect it is great! I highly recommend them for catering events.

Unilocal 2015 Challenge #35 Meh I’ve experienced better sound about right. Came here after an interview on a Tuesday afternoon/mid-morning around 11am, and it was mostly empty. That was alright. Ordered a gourmet shrimp taco which came out to be around $ 4.29. I had known that Rubio’s prices were kinda high, but did not expect it to be that high O_O. I expected more than what I was given. The food itself was better than average, which is what gives this that second star, but shocked at how small and how little of a taco I received for that price. There were a couple pieces of shrimp around, and a little avocado in there. Oh and the worst part for me? MYCARDWASDECLINEDHERE. TWICE. Luckily I had another card which was thankfully accepted. I wasted two hours figuring out what was wrong with the card calling my company. Couldn’t even connect, used my card elsewhere and to this day, that card is still fine x_X So I don’t know why or if it couldn’t read it, but just a warning to everyone(: Service is better than normal, they were cleaning the outside windows and restocking, so they are hard at work. Just expect silence if you come at off times.

I had the chipotle orange salad with shrimp. It was absolutely delicious! An very low cal I believe it was around 300⁄400 and this meal was very cost effective in my opinion. The parking lot is under going some construction but doesn’t effect the experience in my eyes. The guy behind the counter was very informative about food and knowledgable about the preparation and ingredients used. He was also very upbeat and provided great customer service. The setting inside was welcoming, clean, and Mexican influenced. I will be back!

Don’t judge, but I’ve NEVER had Rubio’s before… until just a few weeks ago. My boyfriend’s been telling me that their grilled shrimp burrito is to die for! So we both decided to stop by and grab some of them for lunch! The restaurant was pretty empty, which made me question how good the place was at first. We ordered 2 grilled shrimp burritos to go. There were only two people working at the time so service was pretty slow. We had to wait until everyone in line finished ordering before we were able to get our food. I do like the salsa bar, although I wish the salsa cups were a bit bigger… I had to grab like 6 containers.

I work near here and would visit every once in a while when in the mood. I guess it’d been some time since my last visit — during my latest, I realized they have changed slightly. Besides the typical price increases, it appears they are being more«eco friendly» with their new to-go containers, etc. Can’t lose with the grilled grande bowl(w/any protein you like). I reserve my taco eating for the authentic places we go to but here, their salads and bowls are commendable. Also, I love their pinto beans — when I’m feeling snacky, a bowl of their beans, some spicy salsa and chips will make me one happy girl. Salsa bar is average. The spicy salsa is my favorite though the chipotle one is not bad either. All have a «processed» quality to them but will do in a pinch. The people are pretty friendly here, with the manager really making an effort to help out during the busy times.

You usually don’t put sustainable seafood and fast food in the same sentence however you’ll be surprised by what’s happening at Rubio’s lately. My fondest memories of dining at Rubio’s date back to 2007. I had just moved to Orange County and of course, I had no food at the new place. I was shopping for some supplies and spotted a Rubio’s. I had never been to one so I decided to give it a try. Imagine my surprise when I realized they had vanilla Coke as one of their soft drinks and a menu I’d come to love until this very day. While out and about on our weekend adventures, I was feeling a bit nostalgic so we wandered into Rubio’s to see what was new. Much to our delight, if you check-in on Foursquare or Unilocal, you are immediately offered a FREE order of their new Fire Roasted Corn Guacamole and Chips. I love guacamole and this was a perfect addition to our meal. I just wish there has been more guacamole on our chips because I’m an absolute fiend when it comes to avocados and corn. For me, it was the perfect pairing. Rubio’s is currently featuring their Coastal Trio which is a showcase of their sustainable seafood. The three sustainable tacos are: The Original Fish Taco(a signature recipe that started it all in 1983), Salsa Verde Shrimp Taco(Shrimp, pan-seared and topped with salsa verde), and the Regal Springs Tilapia Taco(Grilled or Blackened Regal Springs Tilapia topped with creamy chipotle sauce and Serrano slaw). They each have some amazing flavor components but my favorite was the Salsa Verde Shrimp Taco. The flavor combinations are unbelievable and just the right amount of heat for my palate. Rubio’s has a great selection of sauces to accompany any dish they serve however I felt the sauces would take away from the tacos and saved those for my remaining chips. The boy decided to go traditional and ordered the Beer Battered Fish Burrito. And guess what? It’s also sustainable like the rest of the menu. This burrito is a mix of sustainable wild Alaska Pollock, caught in Alaska’s icy ocean waters, hand-dipped in signature seasoned beer batter and cooked to crispy perfection. It is wrapped in a toasted flour or whole grain tortilla with handmade guacamole, black beans, Rubio’s white sauce, mild salsa, sour cream, shredded cabbage and a cilantro/onion mix. I only got a few bites of this lovely burrito before he demolished it all.
