I was very lucky to find the Law Offices of Mr. Morkos through Unilocal.Needing consulting on legal matters is hard enough, but Mr. Morkos went above and beyond in assisting me and answered all my questions. Mr. Morkos is not only easy to talk to, but also makes you feel comfortable is honest and to the point. He was consistently in touch with me and made the whole process easy. The Morkos Law Group is by far the best legal experience I have ever had. John and his team are top notch and extremely easy, prompt, and clear to work with. Those qualities are so appreciated when having to work through any legal situation. Highly highly recommended.

I don’t know what John Morkos is like billing by the hour, but for fixed-​fee services, he is UNRESPONSIVE and LACKS ATTENTION TO DETAIL. I strongly urge avoiding hiring John as your attorney.
I hired John for a prenup. He offered a fixed rate of $ 650. My fiancée and I did not have a complex situation; I even had a pre-​written draft of the prenup ready to review on Day 1. John assured me his fee covered counseling, advice, negotiation, and attorney certification.
Before I hired (and paid) John, he was very responsive. When I asked about things like what his fee covers, he responded within a couple hours, sometimes minutes.
Once I paid him, problems began.
1. John does not respond to email in a timely way. He takes 1 – 2 days to respond to every email. Not a huge problem, except:
2. When he did respond, his emails were a mere 1 – 2 sentences long. They frequently failed to answer the question asked. When I emailed back clarifications, it would take 1 – 2 days for every round-​trip of clarifications. This quickly burned time as my fiancée and worked toward our deadline.
3. John never answers the phone. Ever. It’s always his assistant, even when you call back moments after he left a voicemail, or seconds after he sent an email.
4. When you schedule a call with John, he often calls early or late. Sometimes, he called 20 min early of our scheduled appointment, other times an hour late. I am a busy professional w/​my own deadlines and schedules. I’m not just waiting around for my phone to ring, able to hop on 20 min early or an hour late. John’s failure to adhere to his schedule disrespects his client’s time.
5. On phone calls, John doesn’t «lead.» A good attorney leads by saying: «I noticed in your draft, clause A and B. Here are things to keep in mind about clause A. Btw, do you really want to phrase clause B like that? Here’s the implication.» That’s helpful. By contrast, I felt John’s sole goal was to get me off the phone as fast as possible. He’ll say: «What questions do you have for me?» You as the client must have all the questions, or else he will have nothing to advise you. But as a client, you don’t know what you don’t know. That’s exactly why you hire an attorney — to advise you. John was almost worthless in this regard.
6. John does not draft anything, even minor word changes. Too bad I didn’t specify that his fee cover AT LEAST minor drafting. John would say, «you need to include XYZ in your contract.» Then I’d have to search on Google for examples of that contract language. Then I’d have to send it back for review, which (from 1 – 4 above) resulted in more delays and unhelpful emails /​phone calls.
7. John doesn’t seem to read opposing counsel markup. When opposing counsel sent a marked-​up document of edits, I reviewed them in great detail and teed up questions, like: «what does this legal reference mean?» and «should I be worried about that clause?» — John’s responses were: «that’s boilerplate, don’t worry,» or «I don’t know, I have to look that up,» or simply «I have no idea.» What the hell are you paying for with these kind of answers? Even if it’s just boilerplate, if it FEELS MATERIAL to the client, it’s the attorney’s JOB to EXPLAIN it. Thoroughly. That’s what an advisor does. My prenup may be one of 1000 he’s handled, but it’s hopefully the only one I will ever draft, so for me the consequences are FOR LIFE. John fails to treat clients in a way that respects this vulnerability /​empathizes with it.
8. John does not frame options; YOU must come up with all the options. John just says, «You could do that,» or «Yes, that’s an option.» For example, negotiating spousal support, John provided no assistance either framing or recommending options. A good attorney will say: «Here are some ways to structure this. Of these 3 options, I recommend X, because of Y reasons.» The client WANTS to hear this rec. Sure, I may not ultimately follow it — that’s my choice — but a rec gives me a better understanding of how to think about the issues. That is the difference between an advisor vs. a scribe. John is NOT an advisor. He’s more like a computer program that spits out errors with no helpful explanations, or «Yes, that option is acceptable.»
9. John does not negotiate. His fee includes negotiating, but he never once picked up the phone to negotiate for me. I had to communicate directly to opposing counsel, or through my fiancée. The only time he emailed them was at the end to send his attorney certification.
10. John makes REALLY careless mistakes. When sending opposing counsel his attorney certification, he sent the wrong freaking document, even though I emailed him a clear note saying: «USE THIS DOCUMENT.» My fiancée and I were up against our deadline; John was the sole bottleneck for DAYS. He was slow to respond to my /​opposing counsel’s emails. When he did respond, he sent the wrong damn document. This CAUSED US TO MISS OUR DEADLINE. We had to reschedule EVERYTHING. His attention to detail SUCKS.

I don’t know what else to say but «Wow». Unbelievable service, responsive, professional and he just did an amazing job. I’ve never written a review for anybody or any company prior to this. I just had to give John a great review because his service was incredible. His price was the lowest I found too! I still can’t believe that I got the service that I received for the price I paid. I was certain that he was going to ask for more money when I made several revisions to my document. I was certain that the 20+ emails were going to cost me more money. I was certain after several phone calls it would cost me more money. Nope! He just charged me the agreed flat fee. I wish every attorney/​lawyer was as honest and hard working as John. And to boot, he did it all over the phone and via email. Seriously, thanks again John! As I told you in the email I sent you today, «You’re the man».

My wife and I recently decided to go through bankruptcy. For both my wife and I, it was scary to do it and we had NO IDEA about how to do it and the pro’s and cons of it.
We set up an appointment with Mr. John Morkos and he took the time to listen to our situation and suggested and agreed with us to file bankruptcy.
Both my wife and I didn’t know what type of bankruptcy, what we needed to do, what we need to say and were worried about every aspect of it.

John Morkos was incredible and both my wife and I felt immediately that we had someone on our side through out this whole process.
His experience, knowledge and professionalism surpassed our expectations!!!
His communication with us through out the whole experience was great!
But the MOST important aspect was how confident he made us feel and how EASY it all was with his experience and skill!!!
I understand that he is a lawyer and it is a business for him. His business intertwines with his clients emotions and lives and he rose BEYOND our expectations!
