Kumon Math and Reading Center of Central Irvine

Good center and the owner — Ms Jeannie is very dedicated and serious towards the program. My kid improves significantly in Math. Not sure about the reading program though. However it takes only 5 – 10 min a day for my kid to complete the Reading exercise so I just want to give it a year to see.
The one big downside is the center is under staffed. Too many kids vs number of staff. Many times, it took my kid only 30 min to finish both Math and Reading, and correction but we had to spend 75 minute there — kids have to wait long time for their turns to get their work scored back and forth.

Excellent service and nice owner. Owner very helpful, sweet and addresses your concerns. Highly recommend her center.

Great Center! My daughter has been attending Kumon tutoring for about five months now and skill level for mathematics has gone up steadily. The centers staff are very nice and great with the children.

I don’t recommend this place at all. There are so many kids in and out constantly. It is not a good study environment. When my child were there for the placement test, so many kids are reading out loud and multiple tutors are asking question with a loud voices. Also a little kid was screeming too!!! How could anyone focus on the test? I was watching the students while my child took the test. Most everyone came in did some work and turned it in and left. Why do they need to come to the center to do their own work? They didn’t get any instruction from anyone nor correcting papers. I can’t imagine anyone would benefit from this place.

I went here when I was in high school to get supplemental education for my math. Everyone’s experience here may be different, but I have to say that what you put into your work & education is what you get out of it.
I had daily math homework and as tedious as it may seem, I believed that it helped me understand some of the concepts much better. My level went as high as K but then I had to stop due to my conflicting after school schedules.
The lady in charge is Jeannie. You may call her number and she holds Orientation days on certain days out of the week (usually Fri nights). She will be able to sit with parents and address their concerns. Diagnostic tests in math and reading are also available for prospective students.
I’ve also been to the other Irvine Kumon center on Barranca Pkwy. It may be slightly larger and expensive — but I personally feel that you get much better «service» at this location. Mrs. Fung is personable and is on first-​name basis with her clients.
