Came here with my mom’s friend and had an excellent meal! The menu offers some items different than other Chinese restaurants in the area(because the food is from a different region of China). A great variety of dishes and prices are moderate. Portions okay. But they tasted great! The sesame bing(芝麻大餅) in particular was phenomenal; warm and nice and flaky on the outside with soft chewy layers and lots of scallions on the inside.

One of the best family restaurants in Irvine. So many tasty dishes, all at reasonable prices. And, everyone there is super friendly and responsive. This is one of those restaurants which makes dining in Irvine so pleasant.

Food is fairly decent. Service is a little awkward(Ex. Walks in and the whole staff sees us, but no one asks how many in our party and just drops teapot off at a random table. ???) but no one is rude or anything. Just your typical Chinese restaurant service style. One problem I did have was them charging us for rice per person. Other Chinese restaurants either include rice for free or charge per bowl. What if someone at the table doesn’t want to eat rice? Too bad, getting charged! To quote the server, she said, «if you eat any rice at all, you will be charged, so we charged per person no matter what.» What logic???

Went here for a random place for lunch since everywhere else was packed. Got the Kung pao shrimp lunch dish(comes with soup and rice). Food was okay. Nothing spectacular. The tables and chairs looks like someone drove around shopping for tables & chairs at garage sales. I figured the shrimp was the safest thing to get. This place looks like where mice is made into chicken(not saying they do, but definitely doesn’t look inviting). Place reminds me of a hole in the wall restaurant in China or something. Prices were okay, but definitely don’t think I will be coming back.

This is Chinese comfort food — just like the English name of the restaurant suggests, these are the types of dishes your Chinese mom whips up at home — unpretentious yet delicious, and not excessively greasy like a lot of stereotypical dining-out fare. Portions are as generous as your grandmother’s ladle, and the menu has an amazing variety of homestyle dishes, primarily originating from the southern Chinese region. The servers are extremely sweet and friendly, and the prices are reasonable too. Best of all(and very Chinese, hilariously), if you pay cash for your bill of over $ 25, you get a 5% discount. Shhh!
