Came in for a birthday dinner with my fiancé, service was on point, food timing was impeccable, prices weren’t to bad even with a groupon. Dark ambiance and quiet chatter are a nice change from loud restaurant and bright light establishments. Only thing is I’m a person who likes my food very hot upon delivery. It wasn’t to bad a temperature but I just prefer hotter. Overall amazing experience and good times had. Would go again.

Admittedly I do not eat a lot of red meat anymore. But every so often I have a hankering for an ice steak or piece of prime rib, so we ended up at Gulliver’s & we were not sorry. Our server was friendly & efficient. Three of us had the mushroom soup… dang was it delicious & definitely the best mushroom soup I’ve ever had. For dinner, mom enjoyed the enormous pork chop. Two of us had the prime rib & it was excellent. All 5 of us loved the creamed corn, practically a dessert it is so rich! For dessert I enjoyed the English trifle & others at our table really liked the pecan pie. We enjoyed a leisurely evening & look forward to returning.

I’ve only been one time and I loved the place. I went around lunch time and I just sat myself at the bar with a friend of mine. I tried to New York peppered steak. It was so good. I got it done Medium, and I loved it. I think they’re known for their steaks to be medium rare but I wasn’t feeling that much red. I loved the way mine came out. If you don’t want a certain Side with your entré then they’ll allow you to switch it with a variety of other options. I’ll definitely be back

I decided to finally try this place after a good friend recommended it to me. She told me the best time to go is when they have a Groupon deal. Since the deal finally came back on Groupon I snagged the dinner deal for $ 22 for $ 40 worth. I made dinner reservations at 5pm & arrived a bit early, so my husband & I checked in and sat at the bar. We both ordered a old fashion and enjoyed our drink before the hostess called our name to be seated. After being seated we decided to order the escargot & a Caesar salad to share as our appetizer & the Gullivers traditional cut prime rib as our entrée. While waiting for our appetizer our waiter brings us some warm bread & butter. The salad was good but nothing amazing, they bring out the salad on a cart & mix it in front of you. The escargot was really good especially with the puff pastry soaked in butter. The prime rib we ordered comes with creamed corn, creamed spinach & Yorkshire pudding. By the time our prime rib came out we were pretty full already from our appetizers & bread so I ate about ¼ of my meal & my husband ate ½ & took the rest to go. Overall my experience was good, I would come back again! One thing I have to point out is their POS system is extremely old– I didn’t even know people had those systems anymore!

Nice restaurant but typical of these prime rib joints. The food was good but not the best. The prime rib was very tender and moist but seem to lack in flavor. Good place for a big group.

My wife and I went here for Valentine’s Day dinner. I can’t believe we haven’t found this place before. The prime rib was amazing I’ve never tasted cream corn so good and the staff was friendly and fast. This might be one of the best restaurants for comfort food in the Orange County

Prime rib is excellent, order the bone-in prime rib but expect to take most of it home. The scallops were cooked perfectly but the cream sauce lacked buttery creaminess. The rack of lamb was very tender and under cooked. The Rosemary gravy was very good. The décor needs serious updating and the tables smelled like rust. The manager came by which was nice. The bread was ok. I would recommend a major makeover in a city that the average home is over $ 1mil and most of us travel globally

i’ve heard advertisements for Gullivers on local talk radio for years, and i work literally a stone’s throw away from the place, but i never thought i would actually get a chance to dine here! My boss wanted to go somewhere niceish, and it was raining, and el torito grill was off the table, so… we ended up here. The campy décor was lame but fun, but they still had Christmas decoration up in mid January which was just depressing. My Turkey Cobb salad looked awesome, but was ultimately a 7⁄10 because it didn’t have avocado and the dressing wasn’t great. My soda came in a chalus, but the straw was too long for the cup! My boss ordered hot tea, and she had to ask for a tea pot and honey because she was given a cup of water and a tea bag… The bread on the table was very dry. The other two people i was with thought their meals were just OK. I had a fine experience here, but ultimately I wasn’t footing the bill — and that may have left me less than happy with the quality and experience.

As a value proposition, Gulliver just can’t be beat. For $ 33.50, I got 3 huge pieces of prime rib, a side of creamed corn and spinach, and some yorkshire pudding that could be served up for 2 people! It’s ridiculous how much you get, and I mean that in a really good way! The rib eye steak that my girlfriend got with herb butter sauce was on the same level. Juicy, cooked medium with a good sear. Again, for $ 36.95, this tops other $$$$ steakhouses hands down. Even better, go to Restaurant(dot)com & get a discount coupon. It makes a meal which is already a value, to just a steal that will make you walk out feeling amazingly full & happy!

I was ready to give it a 4 or 5 star review because the food was really good and service was good as well. Then, the unthinkable happened. We didn’t finish the cream corn and the waiter removed it and immediately dumped the left over back into the pan from where other tables were the. Served. As we were at the first table from this station, both of us turned to witness the next waitress indeed scoop from the same pot into a dish for the next table. Totally unacceptable and likely against any health code I can imagine Irvine has in place. So, it was a first and last time.

I love this place! The prime rib is fantastic and so are the fixings. It’s the only thing I ever order here but it’s one of my favorite meals ever. The desserts are marginal but, hey, you can’t win them all. Get the prime rib! The waitstaff is also really friendly and accommodating.

First, the 5 stars is a bit generous. I mean, it’s no Morton’s or Ruth Chris or 555 East, but I really liked the experience. Think 4.33 stars. HISTORY Part of the excitement may have been that since the seventies I have seen the Gulliver’s thick cardboard-like coasters in my dad’s house that he probably stole. Prominently featuring a drawing of Gulliver, the guy was a fictional food character beloved to me like Colonel Sanders, Grimmis, or Chuck E Cheese. Alas, there was no audioanimatronic Gulliver playing the keyboard as hoped. AMBIANCE Passing by the red phone boxes, the place is themed like a British pub, with guys in laced white shirts like Prince Eric and girls in cute, slightly Victorian, slightly pirate bar maiden apparel. In that regard, my wife kept saying it felt very Disney, but I dug it. Passing a small but stylish waiting area, the restaurant is big and dark, rich with wood textures, not too cramped, with a silver platter, thick wood table, big inviting chairs, a dim fireplace, festive lights(orange lights in fall), and a view of the busy kitchen. It feels very lodgy. Second visit(12⁄15), very Christmasy and cozy. PUB The bar is very dark and old school, emphasis on the old. Like Cocoon old. I mean, the bar register had a black screen, green words, and a dot matrix printer. So 1983, it asked me, «Would you like to play a game of chess?». Our experience there was a bit spotty. We clearly asked for a dry martini with lemon twist and a vodka cranberry, but we got a martini with olives(gross) and a vodka soda. We asked for our check. We got a tennis racket. FOOD Great menu, lots of choices, though the soups are limited by the day. The sourdough bread to start was perfect, soft with crisp edges. The filet mignon bruschetta is THEBESTBRUSCHETTA ever. Five pieces of crisp bread, topped with tangy tomato and basil, a huge mouthful of filet mignon, and cheese. I was full after the appetizer, so it’s perfect for 4 – 5, a meal-ruining gut buster for 2. It’s an appetizer to end appetites. The full rack of baby back ribs was insanely large. Maybe I’m used to half racks, but this felt like the meat that made Fred Flintstone’s car tip over. Because of the appetizer I only ate a little, sticking my knife into the ribs like a Roman soldier, but it was tender, and not overly sauced. Crispier edges would have made them perfect. Second visit, I got the BBQ combo which is gluttonous… pork ribs, beef ribs, and chicken. The meal came with a twice-baked potato. It was good, but I’m asking for a regular one next time. I guess I asked for a once-baked potato? It also came with a peanut cole slaw, which I loved despite having celery(blecch). And, the maiden came by with a pot of creamed corn, which was great so don’t pass it up. The iced tea was good was the refills kept coming. Having a bite of my wife’s chicken, it was superb and just how we like it… super dry on the outside like turkey(we hate slimy chicken) but full of moisture on the inside. Notice I didn’t say moist. Girls hate that word. The word moist. So, I didn’t say moist. BONUS This is not a reason to eat here, but the restaurant gets credit for the(cramped) mens bathroom doubles as a museum of Gulliver-related art. So it’s like an art museum in a bathroom. Or, a fart museum. [11/15, 12/15]

Long story short save yourself and your money and go somewhere else. This place Lacks customer service, cleaning ness, and most of all the food has no taste! First off we had a reservation so we wen’t ahead and got there 5pm, they sat us down 25 minutes after arrival, and when they sat us down thw table was dirty and the floor was gross! Dirty food thrown on the floor, the place is already dark enough so you can’t really tell the dirtiness i saw it when i picked up my sun glasses and had to use my flashlight. Seafood Linguine was suppose to have a garlic cream sauce which the noodles were super dry no sauce, no taste on the seafood overall was not a good idea to try out this new place we thought we would like. Sadly first time here and will never go back.

This place is fun and kitschy. We like to check out all the prime rib spots because who doesn’t like prime rib? We tried it, and I wouldn’t put it on the top of my list. Food: The escargot was overcooked an chewy. The prime rib was decent but not great. We asked for straight horseradish instead of the creamed horseradish and that helped. The au jus was probably the best thing for me. The corn was too creamy to the point that we could only eat a little bit. The spinach was great though. The yorkshire pudding wasn’t the best — a bit tougher than usual. Service: Meh. All over the place and had to ask for things multiple times even though it wasn’t busy. Parking: Super easy. Free lot. Overall, not great, not bad.

I had heard about this place few years ago from few friends but never had an opportunity to try it. Last week, when taking my husband to our usual lunch spot close to his office, I decided to take the plunge and try it. It’s a rustic setting, much like many pubs in UK. We were seated right away. Our waitress, Michelle was lovely and prompt. We ordered Crab Cakes and Fish & Chips. Everything was fresh and delicious. Nice restaurant and we’ll add this to our rotation of places to eat when I have a lunch date with the Hubby.

Went here with a Groupon… great food! Price is high… too high for me unless I had a Groupon again. But the food is delicious. Very rich, lots of butter and cream. We got the filet mignon cooked med-rare. Came out perfect! And the portions are HUGE! With a steak dinner, you get a double baked potato, creamed corn, and veggies. The portions are so big that you could easily split a steak or prime rib dinner for two. No joke.

Thanks to groupon and my forgetful mind, we forced ourselves to eat basically a cow on a totally spontaneous date night. The fun of groupon is you get to try a place you’ve never been, at a lesser price. As first timers, we definitely got the prime rib without hesitation and it. was. divine. All that combo on your plate with the creamed corn and creamed spinach and one fluffy Yorkshire pudding was just an ultimate meal. We were served by Debra and she made sure we had a pleasant experience. She always checked on us, drinks filled and food came in a timely manner. Her customer service had made an impact on us, as well as the great prime rib, to come back for more.

Food: From time to time, my friend and I will come here for a prime rib after work. I almost always order their Brobdingnagian Prime Rib. It is their biggest cut and a good sized piece of meat. The flavoring is pretty dang good and consistent with each visit. You can put some horseradish on it as well as some au jus sauce. It comes with creamed spinach, creamed corn, and Yorkshire pudding. I love their creamed corn and they’ll bring you more if one serving isn’t enough for you. Service: Their service has always been nice and friendly. Sometimes it can be a little slow, so don’t expect your waitress or waiter to always be there to pour you more wine. Location: This restaurant is located just east of the John Wayne Airport on MacArthur Blvd. It’s easy to find and there’s usually plenty of parking spaces in the huge parking lot shared with El Torito. The lighting inside is dark, but not too dark. If there’s a little wait before you’re seated, I suggest you take a look around at the pictures and decorations on the walls. Some of them are pretty interesting.

Great prime rib. The Gulliver’s cut is approximately 14 oz and the larger cut about 22 oz, I believe that’s what our server stated. They also have an «English cut» — thinly sliced prime rib, but why order that? I did the Gulliver’s cut, med-rare it was bone-in. Absolutely melt in yo mouth perfect. Really delicious. It comes with creamed spinach and creamed corn as well as yorkshire pudding, horse radish and a-ju. I liked the corn but could do w/o the spinach. My GF had the filet mignon + lobster tail. It came with a tasty baked potato and some veggies. She loved it. Perfectly cooked. I liked this place a lot. Not pretentious. Not over priced. Good service and awesome prime rib. The only complaint from my GF was in response to the cleavage bearing outfits of the servers. She asked me to throw that in.
