This shop is perfect! RSVP has an excellent assortment of greeting cards for every occasion from birthdays and graduations to sympathy and just because. The best part about this shop is that they offer a large selection of handmade designs sourced both locally and from around the nation.
This is one of the few shops in downtown Iowa City that has a private parking lot. It’s located in the Northside district of downtown Iowa City, which is quickly becoming one of my favorite areas of Iowa City.

I like the fact that when I buy a card from RSVP that it’s going to be one that someone opens and says something to the effect of «that’s a fun card!» I’ve never been let down here and am always helped and pointed in the right direction of the card I am looking for. Since these cards are usually going to be one of a kind, you’ll pay a bit more for them — however, it’s totally worth it!

Absolutely fell in love with the store and all of its quirky cards. It was a very pleasant experience, until it wasn’t.
It was about 5:32pm. I was browsing the cards with my partner and we were asked (by whom I assume was the store owner) if we needed any help. My partner asked a question about some cards and we were given an answer. We were then abruptly told, «We technically closed at 5:30» — to which we apologized and informed them we didn’t realize and prepared to leave. Seemingly frustrated, she responded, «We have places to be, too» before heading back to the front counter. We once again apologized and received no response before walking out of the store.
This is no way to treat your customers, and no way to make money. We were planning on returning to the store to purchase a collection of holiday cards and much more. I definitely said to my partner before our bad experience, «We should start buying all of our cards from here. They are all so unique, and I love supporting local businesses.» Unfortunately, I don’t think we will be back.
I understand that time is money, but in this case, a lack of basic good manners is what lost this business money. Hope the rest of you have better experiences.

Amazing store. Check out the Pantone Project! I had a pleasant experience. So many fantastic paper curiosities. Tiny animal shaped flashcards and super selection of letterpress cards. Tiny printed envelopes. Papertarian’s delight. Jewelry too. Previous commenter must have had a bad day.
