Trust me when I say this place is FUCKENDISGUSTING! I wouldn’t feed my worst enemy their food. No wonder why the place was empty on a Sunday morning! AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! I would give them a negative trillion stars!

Really tasty food and good service. Two stars for the plastic I found in my chicken Parmesan.

My husband and I were on a day trip to check out an RV park in Plymouth and planned to have breakfast on the way. We wish we had looked a little further. We were met by a pleasant though rather quiet older woman who said to seat ourselves. No problem because there were only two other tables in use in the small dining room. We thought okay, it’s a Monday morning. She quickly came to take our beverage order. After taking a minute to check out the very dated menu she returned with our coffees and took our food order. My coffee was regular and on the weak side. One star is because my husband liked his order, two eggs over easy, hash browns and English muffins. My bacon, avocado and cheese omelet was a flat, yellow and brown mess. The contents were barely discernible. The hash browns were just okay. The second star is for cleanliness, which does matter. We have plans to return to the area in the next couple of months because we were delighted with the RV park we visited but we will NOT be dining at the Ione Café, I promise!

Great little breakfast place here in the small town of ione. I have been here 5 – 6 times every time it’s been good. Today I had the pork chops & eggs. Very good lightly breaded chops. If you live in ione or passing through stop for some breakfast.

The menu dates back to the sixties. I don’t mean retro, I mean they are the exact same ones. The atmosphere is basic… nothing quaint, or interesting… just tables and chairs and cheap thrift store art on the walls. The specials are written on a piece of typing paper and tacked to the wall. Although the waitress was attentive on my coffee, she seemed timid and wasn’t exactly friendly. She spoke only when she absolutely had to and kinda snuck up on me a couple times while I was engaged in reading. I ordered the avocado, bacon, tomato and cheese omelet and it was overcooked and brown. The cheese was that plasticky cheese food product stuff, and I’m not really sure there was any tomato in there at all. It was more like a big, sloppy scramble as opposed to an omelet and the hashbrowns were either scorched or undercooked, and I think the oil they are using is slightly rancid. I had a bad taste in my mouth after eating there. I doubt I will be coming back.

I took a side trip to Ione because I’ve been thinking about possibly moving to the area in the near future. The first place you come across as you drive into town is the café. We were kinda hungry… ok we were starving, so instead of driving around looking for something, I decided this place was just quaint enough to check out. First off, I wasn’t greeted or welcomed… I had to wait until I asked where to sit before being pointed to the seating area. Apparently this isn’t a place where you wait to be seated, my mistake. The food was pretty standard breakfast items, nothing to write home about, yet better than I could make myself. I don’t belong in a kitchen. :-) We were served quite quickly and the food was pretty filling. However, if you are looking for a small town charming feeling… I wouldn’t stop at this café. A point to management, a smile can go a LONG way!

After a long bike ride we decided to give it a try. Obviously not again. I had a hot turkey open face with gravy and mashed potatoes. Another had a grilled turkey and cheese. The turkey was processed out of a can I think. It had an off color… barely edible. Gravy was a bland affair of water, milk and flour. Really… it is so easy to roast a turkey breast and slice it. dried potato out of a box. In this area they need to get a clue… you know farm to fork stuff. No beer either dooms it for me. The owner is a greek lady who is very nice… so I hope they read this and others and make a change. The deck is nice… too bad!

Keeping in mind, this is a breakfast diner… eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast, amazing! But I’d stick to the classic American breakfast food… and the coffee is no good.

Casual café, fifties bus stop table style, bright and cheery. Tireless, efficient waitresses. Bustling business. Standard breakfasts, many different omelets, sandwiches and hamburgers, pork chops and spaghetti. Reasonable prices, and the best hash browns we have ever had. Only open until 4 pm.

The Ione Café is a classic diner type restaurant that offers great prices for decent food. Try the Greek omelet at breakfast, it is delicious and authentic. A nice family feel and family run. If you are looking for a quaint small-town dining experience, stop by the Ione Café.

Okay, like others I was seated before I checked this place on Unilocal.1.5 stars! Crap, I’d better order the first thing on the menu. The first thing on the menu was a cheeseburger. No problem, after 7 hours of fishing I could eat a 2×4. The cheeseburger came out with a ton of fries.(that were frozen from a bag type). Good enough. The burger was nothing special, again a frozen patty, but produce wasn’t bad. okay. Here’s the kicker… The bill came… Two cheeseburgers, fries, and two drinks and the bill was $ 13!!! Quality to cost ratio is totally appropriate.

Just do NOT go here! I let a friend suggest it after a tour at the Preston Castle. I knew it had bad reviews and should of listened to my gut as what they had to fill my gut was just awful! How do they stay in business? I got the Barbie meat sandwich. I busted up laughing as there was more barbie sauce than there was meat glue type meat! The french fries seemed promising after I sent back an Iceberg lettuce salad. The fries looked home made but had a mildewy taste I could not stomach. So for those out there looking at this review, repeat after me: «I will not go here!»

Yikes! I ordered a spinach, mushroom, avocado, swiss cheese omelet, and got processed swiss cheese on the top of a flattened omelet, and they used canned mushrooms! It didn’t taste like any omelet I’ve ever had. Would never recommend this place.

I live here in Ione and if I was starving to death, I would never set foot in the Ione Café. The restaurant staff is stoic and they dont even show emotion or gratitude when you are a customer. The food is dry, plain and tasteless. I usually don’t give such a crude review, but they deserve five thumbs down !!!

Well we’ve tried this place two times. The first was pretty good but a little greasy. The second was all grease, yuck! We will not be going back for a long time. Better off at the golf course.

Yet another Ione review… Seems like each restaurant I eat at in Ione gets less stars than the last… Ione Café follows that pattern. Mediocre, super greasy food and a shady pay system have doomed Ione Café to two-star land… The restaurant itself is in a pretty prime spot in Ione. There’s a balcony section which overlooks the creek, and would be a really nice spot to eat in nice weather. This place is a diner type restaurant(though it looks nothing like a diner inside). They serve breakfast and lunch all day(open ’til 3 most days). I had a linguica and swiss omelet. The omelet itself was OK, the hash browns were totally soaked in butter and a bit too greasy for my liking. The sourdough toast was the only thing that was above average. Ione Café has the Visa/MasterCard/AmEx stickers in the window, but when it comes time to pay you’ll realize that they only take these cards if they are debit/bank cards. On top of that they also charge you a 99 cent fee to use the card. BESURETOBRINGCASH if you plan on eating here. Bottom Line: If you’re in the mood for a quick burger or a grease laden silver bullet to kill a hangover this is probably the spot you want to hit up. Man I really hope I never wake up drunk in Ione…
