My husband and I were in the grand bazaar in Istanbul looking for carpets. We went to a few places that we found information about on-line. We tried to go only to places that we could find some information about on-line as we read about all of the carpet scams that take place in Turkey. We lucked into finding Ozturk house in the Grand Bazaar. Murat Ozturk(the owner of the shop) was very helpful. He specializes in Antique and Decorative Carpets, Kilms and Textiles. He specializes in old carpets and kilms. Most of the rugs we bought were between 70 – 120 years old. He had a very good selection. He was very honest and would tell you when he did not know the response to questions you were asking. He could find anything you wanted. He says clients often email him what they want before they arrive so that he source out some lovely carpets for you. He is a third generation carpet salesman in the Grand Bazaar. His selection is lovely and he does not pressure you to buy anything. He even gave us a suitcase to get our carpets home which was a lovely treat since it saved us the effort of looking for one. He has an amazing selection of lovely old kilms. He will provide you a certificate for whatever you buy from him. His email address is: . Plus, he will provide you with a wonderful history of the Grand Bazaar if you are interested. We had a blast at his store!
