We stayed at Marsh Cottage for 2 nights for a little getaway. It was a beautiful and peaceful place for a retreat. The owner, Wendy, has many of her landscape paintings decorating the cute little cottage, and the deck looks out onto the marsh in Tomales Bay. Once you walk down the path and through the gate, the stillness of the marsh envelopes you. The cottage felt light and airy, and completely private. The kitchen was well equipped, including a nice selection of teas. The stove was very efficient. The oven wasn’t working, but we didn’t have any plans to use it, and there was a nice toaster oven as well. The Windsor dining chairs were not the most comfortable, but were much better with the help of some cushions that were available. The cottage is very conveniently located near Point Reyes National Seashore, and the quaint town of Point Reyes Station. The coastal scenery is rugged and windswept, and the countryside is bucolic with scattered dairy ranches. Wendy was always very quick to return emails and made me feel welcome with her handwritten notes. I hope to make a return visit soon!

This sweet and comfortable cottage is not only a great spot for a couple, it’s the perfect place for a solo writing retreat. Private, completely secluded, with a full kitchen, a writing desk, two outside spaces, a view of Tomales Bay and the mountains in the distance: this cottage is like no other. The proprietors are professional and really pay attention to making the space attractive and comfortable. It’s right between Inverness and Point Reyes Station, so it’s easy to pickup groceries or meals, and there are many beaches or trails nearby to walk along. Very reasonable for the area, and a better deal when you stay a whole week, which would enable any writer to get quite a bit of work done. One of the area’s best little hideaways. A gem!

Marsh Cottage is a sanctuary of sanity — a tiny retreat at the head of Tomales Bay, alive with the sounds, sights, smells and movement of the natural world. I come here to write, to renew, to remember another way of being in my otherwise overly engaged and demanding life. I like that the house is less than an hours drive from my home, is close to Pt. Reyes Station and Yoga Toes Studio and has direct access to fresh produce, good restaurants and Bovine Bakery! The cottage is comfortable, filled with the stunning somewhat iconic West Marin oil paintings of the owner Wendy, and is 15 minutes from Limintour Beach — where a two hour walk takes you up a pristine and wild shore line, often accompanied by harbor seals, snowy plovers, pelicans and other creatures. Do yourself a favor and reserve a few days at this special place. You will come away closer to nature, yourself and what matters most to you! I will be back soon myself! Karin Carrington

Marsh Cottage calls itself«a bed with a view», and that is an apt description. This small cottage in Inverness is a perfect getaway for two people. It’s right on the marsh of Tomales Bay, and you can snuggle up on the chairs on the porch and watch the sunset over the Marsh. We have been here several times in the past few years, and find it to be a well-kept, reasonably priced, little piece of paradise. Just a note that, like most places in the Inverness area, it’s right next to the main highway going out to Pt. Reyes. It never has been a big problem, but it’s a bit surprising the first time you go there. The highway quiets at night though.
