The previous homeowner had Krech replace all the windows in the house with window inserts and aluminum window wraps 10 years ago(2004). One of the selling points to me were the fairly new windows. The inserts themselves are fine however, the installation was not. They are not properly insulated around the wooden window frame and the frame is rotting. My contractor found that there are issues with the installation and flashing. There is significant air seepage around the windows. I called Krech out to look at it and shockingly enough brought the original installer. That man stated that he remembered that house, that the original owner didn’t want to install the flashing and perform the fixes to do the job correctly and that they proceeded with the job anyways. Now removing the aluminum cladding, there is rot around the window frames that is severe. The representative from Krech refused to warranty the job. I asked if they could work some sort of deal out with me and they wouldn’t offer anything, not even a labor discount with me paying for full frame replacement windows! They admitted that they did sub-par work per the previous owner’s direction even though they knew water intrusion would continue to be an issue. Krech does not appear to stand by their work. They took pictures and left the property. Additionally look up aluminum clad window rot in your internet search tool and you will see why the Aluminum further exacerbates the issue.
