My boyfriend bought me a Groupon deal of $ 45 for 90 minutes of massage at Essential Therapeutic Bodywork and I swear I couldn’t be happier. I called up the number listed on Monica’s website and left a voice-mail asking for the date and time I wanted. She called back the same day and asked if I’d be willing to schedule for an hour earlier on the date I wanted, which was fine by me. I found the place just fine and was early enough to greet her and fill out intake forms. She offered me a bottle of water as I filled them out and before the massage asked if I needed to use the restrooms. Upon entering the room it was already a relaxing environment; calm music was playing, the table was ready for me, and the curtains were drawn. I undressed to my level of comfort and got on the heated table face down. Before she even came in I felt my body relaxing. She asked if I would like my gluteals, abdomen or and chest muscles worked on. I declined the abdomen but welcomed the other options. Throughout the massage she frequently checked on how the pressure was; only a few spots were more sensitive and she lowered the pressure, but otherwise her pressure was spot on. The rhythmic movements of the massage and flow around my body never broke in smoothness the whole time. Monica even pointed out some scar tissue on my foot that I wasn’t aware of before. The draping always stayed where she put it and I never felt a breeze as she transitioned the sheets. My chest felt lighter after she massaged around my sternum. After the massage I got dressed and felt better than I have in the last two years since my last massage. I definitely will be coming back to see her again in the near future.
