When I arrived, I had to tell myself over and over«this is a fundraiser. do not be too opinionated». In the end, I really had a great time, but here’s hoping the event staff picked up on some of the shortcomings and makes some needed adjustments for next year. 1 — Event space: Way too crowded, especially in the beginning. The food and drinks were scattered throughout the event space, and everyone seemed to be trying to get to the same place. I was there for three hours and I’m pretty sure I didn’t make it to all of the bars for the signature drinks, only because it was too difficult to try and get through. As the night progressed, either people started leaving, or they quit moving around, because the space seemed to normalize. Normalize. Is that a word? It is now. 2 — Entertainment: Kerri Leigh & Craig Wilson were playing the stage on the east end of the venue, and they were entertaining. The dance floor was packed and everyone was singing along. My group made our way to the other end where DJ Lockstar, Indy’s most popular DJ, was keeping the beat going. I don’t dance(much to the chagrin of my friends) but I think I swirled my drink a few times. That means I enjoyed it. 3 — Food: Loved the Mac & Cheese from the Colts Grille. Wish that the Oceanaire had brought enough to keep the Oyster Bar going. They ran out way too early. 4 — Drinks: There were three featured cocktails, and the Madu Hutan from The Ball & Biscuit was my favorite. Ironically, it was also the easiest to get to, so bonus! At the end of the night, as I sat in my Über ride home, I reflected on the evening and realized that aside from some space issues at the beginning, I really did have a great evening, and the event was truly a success.
