Yolk is my favorite breakfast spot in Indy! I first had Yolk in the South Loop in Chicago before they had this location here in Indy. This location is absolutely amazing. Yolk has an extensive menu that is fresh and delicious! I have always gotten the same thing however, the South of the Border Benny and a cup of coffee. This chorizo eggs benedict is the best i have ever had. Their coffee is also really smooth and tasty. The atmosphere is very vibrant and cheerful! The staff is very polite and seem to genuinely love their jobs and the food they serve. I tell everyone about Yolk and am so happy Yolk choose to open a location in Indy!

First visit was a success! The skillet I ordered was delicious. Didn’t have to add a grain of salt or pepper. Price was very reasonable for the amount of food we got. Definitely going back!

Yum. Arrived around 12 on a Sunday, and the place was PACKED. They estimated ~50 min wait for 3 people, but it was less than ½ hour(perhaps as other people waiting abandoned ship). I love the vibe in here. It’s bright and cheery with modern décor but still has a diner like feel. The wait staff were all pleasant and attentive. Onto the food. There seemed to be something for everyone– crowd pleasers as well as unique items for the foodies out there. I had the Croque Madame(essentially a grilled meat/cheese sandwich on French toast w/easy egg on top). I thoroughly enjoyed it. Loved the mix of sweet and savory. My husband had the chicken & waffles and my sister the salmon scramble. We were all pleased, stuffed and ready for a nap by the time we left!

Great vibe, great location, and great breakfast all day long with everything from very healthy to very indulgent choices. I would love to see three things added to your menu to meet the dietary needs of people with gluten and lactose intolerances: Gluten-free bread, dairy-free cheese, and coconut creamer. Keep up the great work and I will be back.

Visited Yolk today with a party of 15 others. Arrived at 11:30 and found the place packed. Needless to say, it took a while for them to seat us, but they were able to do so well before the estimated 45 minute wait time. Once seated our excellent server Amanda went about getting our coffee and drinks for us while we perused the menus. She quickly and accurately took our orders. Within a reasonable amount of time, all of the food arrived together and every order was correct. Amanda continued to take care of our requests cheerfully and efficiently until we ate our fill. I had the 5 egg Works omelette. Many in our party had the variations on Eggs Benedict and seemed quite pleased with them. My daughter who can be finicky about scrambled eggs enjoyed her meal and commented that she really liked the sausage in particular. Other children in our party were thrilled with their choice of fancy pancakes. My teenage son(who can really put the food away) had the Chicken ‘n’ Waffle and nearly finished the whole thing before he was full, so the quantity of food is more than enough to satisfy big appetites. The atmosphere is casual and noisy– more noise absorbing surfaces would be a welcome improvement however. The average cost per person wound up being about $ 18 after the tip.

Great place if you are ready to GOIN on brunch. If you have a hunger that not even horses can tame then get to Yolk. The Windy City is kind enough to share these brunch connoisseurs and do they make a mean omelette. Portions are huge(really great for sharing, seriously), service is decent, and I don’t think you can find a more yellow place than maybe the inside of the sun, so talk about bright and cheery. Super overrated. Don’t take this the wrong way, but for the money you spend here, it is not even half way worth it. I ate here with a few friends, and was less than pleased. Theres 4 – 5 other breakfast joints in Downtown Indy I’d go to before here. I’m sure their Chicago location is great, but the Indianapolis one is not that exciting. The food was average at best. Service was decent, nothing overly friendly. If you don’t mind spending extra money just to eat at a place people know about, then this is your type of place!

Well after many ill-fated attempts to try to have breakfast here I finally had the pleasure at 10am on a Friday when I got a break from standing around in the mud with my coffee watching people build things. And let me tell you, it was certainly worth the wait! My first impressions while arriving were that everything was so bright and sunny and everyone(patrons and employees alike) appeared to be in a great mood. I was greeted by the friendly hostess and seated at the counter and promptly seabed coffee. The menu was brought swiftly and witching 5 seconds(given that I am none of these things) ordered the big, fat, Greek omelette with a fruit side and pancakes of course. As I waited I glanced around and saw a mixed bag of 20 – 30 somethings peppered with some older people. I didn’t have much time to look around as my food was out in around 5 minutes. Here we go: Omelette: 5 eggs, feta, tomato, onion, black olives. The omelette was great-fluffy yet all the fillings still held together. I expected it to be super salty which it was not. Of course that was gone in the style of the Tasmanian devil. Fruit: Here’s where they really hit the mark. Red grapes, sliced pineapple, sliced melon, 2 orange slices. Everything was so juicy! You could tell they took care to make sure everything was fresh. I despise melon and I even ate that! Pancakes: The powdered sugar in lieu of butter was a nice touch. You could tell they made them right before the were served as they even had a tad of grill crunch to them. Was tempted to fist these like a burrito. Food 5++ Ambiance 5 Service 4(would have gotten 5 had they offered a coffee refill) Overall solid 5! Total damage-$ 20 bucks including tip. Not bad for the quantity and quality of food received. This place has officially earned my #1 breakfast spot in Indy! As I paid my bill and walked to my car, still smiling from the cashier wishing me merry Christmas, I thought to myself-«If I was any merrier right now, I would be Santa Claus.»

Had this place bookmarked after reading all the reviews and decided to check it out on one of my many trips to Indy. I’m big on breakfast places and this place is much bigger than I was expecting! Great service from a friendly and welcoming staff. Coffee was refilled constantly(YAY!).

I eat here occasionally, mostly for breakfast. I really love their smoked salmon scramble. I order it with fruit instead of potatoes and they load up your plate with lots of fresh fruit, not just a tiny side of stale fruit you get in some restaurants. Also, the staff here is very friendly and efficient.

On my second day in Indy I thought I would save myself some money by having the hotel breakfast. After skimming the bleak offerings I took to Unilocal to find a breakfast upgrade. That is when Yolk came into the picture. Before I knew it visions of pancakes were dancing in my head and my feet lead me to Yolk. I was seated right away and was immediately greeted with flowing cups of coffee. I ordered the whole wheat oatmeal do banana pancakes. I had never had anything like this before! Very tasty and surprisingly not dry. The portion was huge and after one package I was stuffed. I left full and happy and without regrets since this trumped the sad looking hotel breakfast.

The best thing I can equate Yolk to is an upscale Denny’s and honestly, there’s nothing wrong with that. The prices are cheap and the ingredients are fresh. The menu is covers all of your breakfast favorites, with some twists. I do enjoy that they offer an interesting seasonal menu. The biggest plus is that they will NOT up charge for egg whites While there is no gluten free menu, they can modify many of the dishes, and they did a good job of making sure that the to minimize the cross contamination. Sunday’s this place can get packed, but the tables turn over pretty quickly. Overall if you looking for a cheaper breakfast option with friendly service and a decent meal, then Yolk is a good option for breakfast.

Great service from a friendly and welcoming staff. Our server offered to go coffees, she was after my heart. I was really torn on what to get. It’s hard to pass up Chicken and Waffles, especially those that are a bit different. I opted to hold out until my next trip. The seasonal option of pumpkin pancakes sounded delish as well. Instead went for the El Torero Scrambler and ordered the pancake on the side. Their home made picante salsa was a nice compliment to the scrambler. My pancakes were tasty and had a hint of vanilla. Lots of variety on the menu to meet anyone’s breakfast cravings.

Indy is not ripe with good breakfast spots but I’m trying to prove myself wrong. Yolk had great service. I’d go so far as to say perfect. The menu was extensive and a good mix of classic with trendy. The food how ever, was just good. Not great. But good. I have only been once and I will be back to try and try again.

The was my first time here. The space is larger than it looks and you could easily have a breakfast meeting here. First things first, their coffee was surprisingly good. It’s rare for me to find a good cup. I had the All American breakfast: eggs, French toast, bacon and sausage. Needless to say, I could’ve shared this meal. Everything was good especially the service. I’ll be back to try other options. Really want to taste the omelette.

My Sunday mornings are very precious to me so if I am going to venture out and deal with crowds, if better be for something extraordinary. Yolk delivered extraordinary this Sunday morning. We arrived around 11:20am, prime brunch time, and by the crowed inside and out, we’re concerned about an excessive wait. After checking in for a table for two they said about 40 min. But most likely sooner. We decided to go for a quick walk to get some coffee at the Union Station Starbucks about 10 min away. We got back about 25 – 30 min after and found out our name had been called. Instead of making us wait longer or give us attitude about missing our name, they were so very accommodating and got us a table right away with zero ‘tude. Their table turnover was impressive and not because they rushed patrons through their meals and quickly shuttled then out the door, rather they keep the kitchen moving, and the café itself is quite large with its outdoor seating and well designed interior. I was beyond impressed with our services as it seemed to be an all hands on deck approach. A gentleman was giving water quickly to everyone as they were seated while our server was phenomenal with giving us time to review the large menu, offering suggestions and really made us feel welcomed and was super personable. The GM even was the one running expo and delivering food while also checking on patron. I had the iced Chai latte and loved that it came sans water without having to ask that it be made so. I also ordered the Benedict Caprese and a side of bacon. She asked how I wanted my bacon, crispy or soft. Holy bacon gods finally a place that gets it! Not all bacon is created equal and not all bacon is cooked the same. The bacon came out super crispy but not burned, which was perfect. The plating of the Benedict Caprese was amazing with a hearty serving of potatoes seasoned and cut to a perfect bite size and some fresh fruit(pineapple, melon, grapes and oranges) along side the main dish. The main dish of Benedict Caprese featured hollandaise sauce that was perfectly creamy and not runny at all. The dish was an English muffin with pesto sauce atop mozzarella, a grilled tomato slice, and a perfectly poached egg with just the right consistency of runniness. My companion ordered the Pot Roast Benedict and I did have a bit of order envy. The dish was plated the same but the pot roast meat was wonderfully moist and perfectly seasoned. Overall a great experience from the food to the service. My only complaint would be how pricy the City Way garage is for parking, despite its awesome street art themed décor. The lack of street parking made the garage the only option for non downtown dwellers. Define recommend Yolk especially if you are looking for a new spin on a classic brunch dishes, like Eggs Benedict. Will be back to try out the lunch portion of the menu. YOLKON!

Imagine all of your expectations for a large, well prepared breakfast. For me, these expectations manifest themselves to near perfection in Yolk. If you have prepared your 1st and 2nd stomachs and can’t survive a day without breakfast, Yolk will fill that need. While at GenCon my friends and I ate at Yolk a total of two times. We were staying at The Alexander, and it was located conveniently downstairs in the attached building. Service was VERY quick when we dined in around 7 am. We were seated immediately, coffee was frequently topped off, and our meals arrived in about 8 minutes in the morning. The servers were cheery but not burdensome at the hour. The first day I ordered the«All star breakfast» with half a waffle, bacon, sausage, and scrambled eggs with cheddar melted over the top. Thank you for not making the eggs runny or dry. They were surprisingly perfect! The bacon was cooked perfectly, but I wish the cut had been thicker. The second day, I had French toast stuffed with cream cheese, topped with bananas and a strawberry sauce. Absolutely perfection here. It was too much food for me to finish that morning so I definitely enjoyed it the following morning. Unfortunately, one of my bacon pieces was burnt. I’ll forgive it this time because everything else was prepared so well. If you can’t survive without breakfast and want coffee that isn’t over-roasted and burnt, Yolk is the perfect stopping point. If you’re staying in The Alexander, you cannot pass up this breakfast experience.

This is a newer eatery on the local Indy dinning scene. It was a busy Saturday but our waitress seemed too busy to genuinely care about our table. This might have been just her having a bad day. I ordered the biscuits and gravy plus a side of corned beef hash. Overall my meal was middle of the road food. Not great but not bad. The B&Gs could have used another helping of gravy. My dad got the omelet which he enjoyed. Overall this is a solid place that could use just a little more lovin to elevate its overall taste.

I like yolk. What is not to love with breakfast food? It’s located on the side of the Alexander hotel in Downtown. There’s a convenient garage parking and you’ll enter the hotel before proceeding to the far corner of the building. I like the interiors and it’s brightly painted and the colors are on the modern side which I love. Food is good. Nothing fancy or spectacular. Definitely not your hipster joint. Just solid breakfast place that has plenty of selection for the picky eaters. Pricing wise… it is average and they have a kid’s menu which is pretty solid.

I had such high expectations for Yolk but I was sadly disappointed. It was a high of 30 °F the day of our visit but the air was still on. I understand that it gets warm from the stoves and ovens but we were pretty far away. It looked like most tables were near an air vent so we didn’t bother to ask for a different table. A layer of film had formed at the top of my syrup before it even arrived at our table. The cinnamon roll french toast was barely warm when it arrived(and no, I didn’t spend forever trying to get a good picture – it was a one and done). The food was unimpressive. The cinnamon rolls in the display case looked extremely dry. The pancakes were a flat mass of disappointment. It was too salty and not in a buttery yummy goodness type of way. My boyfriend got the El Terero scramble, which he enjoyed and I thought was decent. I really tried to like this place, especially since I’m a sucker for adorable logos and I liked really liked the interior. It also wasn’t very clean despite only a handful of other parties. There was just random trash on the floor throughout the place. When we sat down, there was a straw wrapper, crackers, and a grape on the floor just next to my chair. Our servers were extremely friendly and attentive though!
