When was the last time you heard something good about employees at Walmart? This store is amazing. I am not sure what the manager teaches or does to his employees, but they are so customer focused. I was standing at the deli waiting in line. A younger girl(probably a newer employee) was taking care of customers. I had not been waiting that long. A senior employee came from the back and said to the girl, «Honey, this man has been waiting entirely too long. We keep things moving here. Sir, how can I help you?» The entire time she was cutting my deli meat, she was mentoring this young girl. As well, between 7 and 10 employees said hello to me(genuinely) as I walked through the store.

This review is relative to the Walmart experience in general… Shopping at any Walmart is usually frustrating due to crowds and poor staffing. I’m a sucker for a cheap price and will generally overlook how bad the experience is to save a few bucks. Enter the Neighborhood Market. Still not great by any means, but parking and shopping were relatively easy. Even though the store has a smaller selection of items, I was able to find everything I needed. I didn’t have to wait in line for 20 minutes while someone who would rather be being tortured by the Taliban than checking me out helped me. I really appreciated how quickly I was checked out and on my way. I have been her a few times, and I can never find hand baskets for my goods. When I asked about them I was told they were«out» and«ordering more». This seems so odd to me!

Yes, you read that correctly; I am giving a Wal-Mart five stars. A rating of this caliber is not an apples and oranges comparison: in other words, I’m not comparing this grocery store with a five-star restaurant. I’m simply comparing it to other Wal-Mart locations, and specifically, other neighborhood grocery stores. This store is very new, which also means that the staff is new and have yet to get burnt out. With that said, the staff may be the store’s greatest asset. Each time I have visited, employees have gone above and beyond the call of duty to assist me. They greet customers with a genuine smile, and quickly and efficiently complete tasks. The trouble with Wal-Mart stores is often the line. In fact, the lines are what typically deter me from shopping at Wal-Mart in the first place. At this location, I haven’t waited any more than two or three minutes to begin the checkout process. This store is clean and very well organized. While small, it still has a fully functioning pharmacy, and carries all the grocery items one would need. I’ll give credit where and when it is due. This Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market is doing a fantastic job. I certainly hope that it continues.
