Tried this gem after finding it on Unilocal and was thankful I did. Great food, good prices, and amazing drinks! I plan to go back again soon!

A great place to stop in for a drink with the… «Usual Suspects!» The drinks are great and staff is really friendly. Prices are comparable to those in the area. As the night goes on it gets really busy and there is a dj in the corner!

We visited this restaurant for New Year’s Eve before going out. The restaurant wasn’t busy at all and we were seated as soon as we arrived. Our waiter introduced himself and told us about a 3 course NYE special menu for $ 30 each person. We waited for quite a while before he returned to take our drink orders. We asked for recommendations on beers and he told us he didn’t know anything about any of the beers, picked up the menu and named a random beer from the list. He then brought our drinks back, again after a long wait. My husband was given a bottle and glass and I was only brought a glass already poured. I thought it was weird so I asked about it and he tells me that they were out of what I ordered and just brought me something else. WITHOUTASKING… My husband and I decided to share the Osso Bucco and at $ 18 we were happy to receive a large portion. I have to admit, the food was good but it wasn’t worth the 1 hour wait for it. We sat with empty drinks and were never asked if we would like another. We had to rush to make our reservations for later in the night because of the extremely slow service.

Great place to have a quick drink but stay away from the bartender Mike. He’s terrible, arrogant and will overcharge you for extra drinks. Be sure to get an itemized receipt. If you need help, talk to the bartender Billy and he’ll make it right. Mike should go elsewhere and unfortunately, he’s a manager.

A few of my Facebook friends had went to Unusual Suspects in the Broad Ripple area about a week or two before. So I figured it was time to try somewhere new by having my own visit. I’m on a new diet so I could only have the chicken and fish meals. I decided to try the salmon. The salmon dish was actually pretty good and the serving size was very large. The dish comes with a very creamy rigatoni which was awesome! My mentor who went along with me for this visit said the rigatoni was so good that she could eat it all day. So much so that she could have a whole bowl of it and be so happy that she would eat it while swinging her feet. How cute! The space was nice, service was prompt and I can see myself going here again to try some of their meat selections.

After walking past this place hundreds of times, I finally decided enough is enough. Simple. I love simple places. Usual suspects is one of them. There is a very laid back vibe with friendly bartenders and beautiful wood floors(I’m a dancer, we notice these things). I ordered the lemon dill salmon which came with risotto and asparagus. While the veggie lover in me would’ve loved more asparagus(it only came with three!) the salmon was a hit. The capers mixed perfectly with the lemon dill sauce, which wasn’t over powering or too lemony(is that a word?). The edges of the salmon were slightly crispy, very flavorful and not too charred, which is rare and so very appreciated! So appreciated that I forgot to take a picture. Oops. I’d give five stars but it took fairly long for the food to arrive despite there only being 6 other people in the place, on a weeknight. The usual suspect keeps things simple(small menu, not many veg or vegan options) but does it well if you aren’t too picky. Worth a stop if you’re in the broad ripple area.

I’ve walked by Usual Suspects many times and kept telling myself I needed to give it a try sometime. Shame on me for not stopping before now! The Black and Blue tips were cooked perfectly. We also had the Chicken and Eggplant Parm which was also outstanding. We sat outdoors and had a fantastic waiter… wish I could remember his name. The prices were extremely fair for the quality of food. Usual Suspects is very high on my B-Ripp list.

I ordered the osso bucco and it is delicious. It is one of their better known dishes. The meat falls off the bone and the rossoto melts in your mouth. They were also giving out free samples of the shrimp quesadillas and they were incredible. The waiter said that is their most popular dish and I can see why. The overall feel of the restaurant was amazing. They had a cute patio if you want to sit outside. The service was good and our waiter was very knowledgable. I would recommend coming here!

The food was very tasty. I ordered the steak. It was prepared just right. It’s pretty pricey but it’s a nice experience.

This restaurant is AMAZING… the atmosphere is INCREDIBLE… the food is SPECTACULAR… and the prices are a steal… you really won’t regret coming to this great restaurant, it’s truly a hidden gem in broad ripple… they even have a dance club on the lower level that opens at 11pm Friday Saturday and Sunday with a live DJ…

Stopped in for a light dinner on a Sunday night with friends and ended up having the most awesome time. Our waiter(Thad) was so much fun and made great recommendations. The shrimp quesadillas and the Osso Bucco were just as amazing as he described. The bartender was equally awesome(Doug) and even came out to our table to make sure we were happy with our drinks. What amazing service! The margarita was incredible, as well as the blueberry infused vodka cocktail. I recommend this place to anyone looking for great food and a fun time.

Great service, above average bar food, clean establishment right in the heart of Broad Ripple. I think it is very consistent!

Apparently the stars were in alignment and the foodie gods were shining down on us because my friends and I had the BEST experience at Usual Suspects. This wasn’t my first visit, but my first in well over a year or two. I arrived around 6p. The place was pretty empty. Street parking is available for about $ 1.50/hr. I just love the interior. I’m a sucker for a chalkboard wall. Love the fresh flowers, vintage art prints, and warm colors. It took a few minutes to be greeted. I was seated and promptly greeted by our server, Carson. My friends were feeling adventurous and ordered the Risotto and Osso Bucco. I, on the other hand, wasn’t feeling as adventurous, so I opted for the shrimp quesadillas. It was Friday night, so of course I had to try one of their signature cocktails. Based on the description alone I had to try the Buddha Blossom, which was a tasty concoction including champagne, ginger beer, peach liqueur. Not too bad, but wasn’t blown away. Now the shrimp quesadillas, on the other hand, was pretty spectacular. Seasoned shrimp with mozzarella and sweet & spicy chili aioli. Winner! I also loved the presentation with the dusting of herbs and lemon. Now, the grande finale was the chocolate lava cake. Lovely presentation. Warm cake made with cocoa with chocolate oozing out of the center. I enjoyed every bite! All and all I spent about $ 35 and some change. It was worth every cent! I can’t wait to go back and try the Caribbean quesadilla and the turtle cheesecake.

The Antsy Pants drink — double espresso vodka, white chocolate liqueur — yum! Everything else was mediocre. A friend and I wanted to try random things from a few restaurants that we had never been to in Broad Ripple. This was the last place on the list, so we tried the scallops and black and blue tips. The candied pork on the scallops was delicious, but the scallops were a bit too chewy. The black and blue tips tasted like cafeteria food. They had no flavor at all. The grits that came with the tips were okay. I tasted some smoked gouda, which is always welcome in grits. I’ll likely never go back. I had high hopes! Oh, and the lemon/berry cake that’s in all of the photos… they don’t have that anymore. Bummed.

Came here to eat on a Friday evening. Was surprised at the availability of tables. Once we tasted the food, we were even more surprised. We had most of the small plates. They were great. The soup of the day was butternut squash and it was very good. Or server, Andy was really good and made some great sufferings. I’m not sure having a DJ preform in a restaurant does anything good for this business. Overall na really good evening. Go before the DJ gets there and have Andy pick out some things for you.

If you have not tried Usual Suspects for dinner and/or drinks yet, you must give it a try. You will not be disappointed. I lived in the area for years and walked by far too many times before entering. The bar staff is attentive and you’ll be hard pressed to find a better pour in Indianapolis. I’ve used the Usual Suspects for several special occasions and each time my party raves about the food, drinks, atmosphere, and service. Jimmy knows my drink and makes it perfectly every time; it makes me feel like I’m at a high-class Cheers. If you’re talking food, you must try the Osso Bucco, which is simply delectable. If you feel like treating the kid inside of you, order the(4 cheese) Mac & Cheese. Add lobster to the Mac & Cheese(or bacon or chicken) because you’re an adult and deserve something for yourself nice once & a while. Take the opportunity to treat yourself by ordering the Shrimp Quesadilla as an appetizer, which the regulars affectionately refer to as the«Crack Dilla» for its addictive nature. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu — I haven’t in four years!

Finally here for dinner in a Friday night. It was the art walk night in Broadripple so we made 7:30 reservations. We really didn’t need them because it was a rainy night. It did get busier though closer to 8:30. Nice and cozy dining area. We had the pepperoni bread as an appetizer, it was ok. The dough was undercooked in the middle, but I could see it had potential if cooked correctly. I had a glass of Pinot Grigio, and wish I’d ordered one of their specialty drinks instead, after seeing some delivered to nearby tables. I had the osso bucco, it was delicious the meat was very flavorful. I didn’t like the risotto, the truffle flavor was too strong. Next time I will substitute it for the mushroom risotto. Everyone else I was with enjoyed their meal and drinks. This place is more known as a nightspot, but it’s coming into its own for dinner!

With a ton of restaurants in Broad Ripple, I was a bit indecisive about where to go for dinner. Then I saw two words keep popping up all over Usual Suspects’ reviews: Osso Bucco. It sounded interesting, so I took my hungry appetite here to check it out. It wasn’t very busy, so I grabbed a seat at the bar and looked over the menu to see if there was anything else worth trying. I even asked for some suggestions from the bartender, who was very helpful with his recommendations, highlighting a couple of the drink and dinner specials and, of course, mentioning the Osso Bucco. I decided to just go for it. That and one of their house margaritas. While I was waiting for my meal, the bartender brought out a sample of their popular shrimp quesadilla for me to try since it was my first visit. I was impressed with both the appetizer(would definitely order), as well as his unexpected generosity. Two thumbs up for his attentive and thoughtful service. Then the Osso Bucco arrived and quickly substantiated its numerous praises to me. The large pork shank was extremely tender and perfectly seasoned. In addition, the ample, truffled risotto and wild mushrooms the pork was served upon was extremely creamy and satisfyingly filing. As hard as I tried, I couldn’t finish nearly all of it, wishing I could take the rest with me back to the hotel. There was nothing usual about Usual Suspects. Definitely top-notch!

The appetizers here were actually better than my main plate. However — still nothing really stands out. We ordered shrimp quesadillas, shredded beef tacos, hummus, and pretty much every app(big group). Shrimp quesadillas were the best but were simply very cheesy with not a ton of flavor/spice. For the main course I had the salmon. Overlooked and a bit dry I think they skin and bake it — need to leave the skin on and just grill on one side to preserve the natural goodness. I have never had too much trouble with salmon but I was very underwhelmed by what they did here. Drinks were good? I guess that’s a plus but its hard to mess up alcohol :)

This is my kind of bar! Super relaxed and not too crowded. Great for people watching late into the night. I ordered a long island(I was ready to party, we were Lyfting home!) and that thing was so strong the bartender said it has as much alcohol as a Kilroy’s Pitcher long island… the pitcher! I was checking out some of the other Unilocal reviews while we were lounging and I will DEFINITELY be back to try this risotto. Holy crap sounds amazing. And then bonus if you are looking for a basement frat house experience, just check out the downstairs for a totally new atmosphere!
