U-Haul Moving & Storage of Downtown

The absolute worst U-​Haul location I’ve ever had to deal with. I once rented a truck for two hours and dropped it off in the lot after hours to the exact instructions they gave me. The next morning they called my phone off the hook and even called my wife because they couldn’t find the truck in their own lot.
Second experience, I wanted to rent a hand truck/​utility dolly. It’s $ 7/​day, simple enough. Not for this staff. It took four phone calls and two trips to the location to get it rented me. Every trip to the store took waaaaayyyy longer than it should. Managers needed to be called almost every time or even a customer service representatives from U-​Haul corporate. The whole process was so incredibly frustrating.
Pro-​Tip: Find another U-​haul location

I was nervous going into this U-​Haul rental because I had heard general horror stories of offices not being open when scheduled, them not having the right vans/​trucks available, etc. I should note, I hadn’t heard that about this particular location, just in regards to truck rental in general.
However, the entire experience exceeded my expectations. Booking a van online was easy — the website gives you recommendations based on how much you’re planning on moving — so I went with the 9 foot cargo van. I found it helpful to complete the online check-​in ahead of moving day (driver’s license info, etc.) to save time at the actual shop. I liked that you didn’t have to pay anything in advance and that no hold was placed on your card until you actually received the vehicle.
I called the day before to confirm and the manager was friendly and told me everything was ready to go for the following day. I felt better but was still nervous something might go wrong.
On the day of my move, I got to the shop and getting my van was pretty painless. I thought the entrance of the store and where to park was a little confusing, and ended up having to move my car, but no real harm done. I wasn’t a huge fan of the only parking available being across Illinois Street from the facility, but it ended up being fine.
Receiving and returning the van was easy and I thought the rental fees and mileage charges were fair. I was only going from one downtown apartment complex to another so I actually didn’t have any additional fuel charges whatsoever.
Would definitely rent from U-​Haul/​this particular location again based on this first experience.

This business helped my mid — week move go smoothly and quickly! Customer service was great and the estimate they gave for my truck rental ended up being almost exactly what I was charged. I’ll definitely use them again for any future moves.

We had a miserable (non-​UHaul) moving experience, but thankfully we moved stuff into these storage units. The manager stayed open LATE so that the incredibly slow movers could get everything moved into our unit. The following day, we were able to rent a small truck with 15 minutes notice to retrieve a freezer from the storage unit. Our access card has worked every time, the place seems to be very secure, and it’s also quite clean. There’s a freight elevator and you’ll also be able to back a truck into a bay so if it’s raining or snowing your stuff won’t get wet. They sell the fabulous UHaul boxes here too, of course.

Amazing customer service. I have rented a truck from this location and I also have a storage locker. One evening I after dropping some items off I did not lock my unit correctly. The management called me the next morning to inform me that my locker was not secured. When I arrived that day to secure it, a staff member assisted me to make sure my belongings were locked up correctly.
