Taps & Dolls

As far as panic attacks go, it could have been worse. I could have
been assaulted, oh wait I pretty much was. I don’t think this is funny.
This is probably to be expected because assault, as a general topic, is
not very funny. A young red-​headed gentleman thought it was funny to
sneak up behind me and goose me with his Budweiser bottle. When I
turned around he shook it up and shot foam all over my Sperry shoes.
When I yelled «What the Frick?» he responded with one word:
«Nuuuuuuuut!»
I was over this debauchery. My shoes were ruined, I smelled like
smoke, and felt like an ass. Right then, at my lowest point of the
night I met a girl. I explained it was my birthday, and asked to do
some romantic «champagne» birthday toast. Champagne = red headed slut
shots, because they refused to give me Champagne.

Certainly not my favorite place in Indy, but the drink specials are decent. This place is huge, so it’s good for big groups. The bartenders were friendly enough. The crowd was playing VERY questionable music on the «jukebox,» in my humble opinion. But obviously that’s not the bar’s fault. I may give it another shot if I’m downtown.
P. S. I find it hilarious that their website says «Add Us on Myspace.» Thanks for the nostalgia, Taps & Dolls.

Great bar! Bartender Hillary was awesome and she is a newbie! Fun atmosphere and they also have adult games such as arcades and a «punching machine» that the men tend to like. Also– great beer selection!

Never have I been treated so disrespectfully. The Bouncer (balding, white, older man) literally put his hands on me because he wasn’t capable of analyzing the situation and using customer service skills. Call me old fashioned but from what I understand you should never push a customer, let alone a girl. Taps and Dolls already isn’t really worth my time but after this experience I’ll never go back. And I’ll be happy to share this experience with others.

Well to start off with this bar, they put cheap liquor in expensive liquor bottles to try to rip you off. I had ordered regular shot of grey goose and it was some cheap flavored vodka. I told the bartender to pour it again in front of my face. Same thing. They had poured shitty alcohol in brand named bottles. Of course they act like they had no idea how it could happen. It’s clientele isn’t a surprise. Full of douchebags.

Good pizza, Sun King beer, and nice vibe.
Will be back here every time I’m in Indy!

Went last night with my wife, music was great and the service was good but the door guys were extremely disrespectful I wont step in the building again. I bought a bottle and spent over 150 dollars in drinks in a couple hours to share with a big group of friends. I left to meet a friend and asked to get a stamp, they refused to give me one and they stated I would have to pay to get back in. I decided i would leave and take my business somewhere else. I would recommend going to bartini’s or 6 lounge if you’re looking for a good dance club alternative with staff members who are not disrespectful.

Y’know, I’m not that big of a party girl. I am perfectly content sitting at home on a Saturday night with Netflix and some snacks. But something I’ve found that when you’re a not that big into partying but you’re in a place where people are turning up, it’s always really fun to people watch. In addition to its colorful characters, this place has tons of beers on tap and practically every variety of Pinnacle vodka you could imagine if you wanna go hard (with your partying and your liquor, that is). Plenty of space to dance and sit even when they place is crowded around 2am. Plus, you get free admittance into Skybar 247 and Crackers, so what’s not to like?

Good place for drinks and music. Drink specials are about average. I have definitely had better. I ordered the wings (not). They were your average breaded wings not really anything to write home about, but it’s a bar so what would you expect. My friend had the pizza which she said was bland not flavorful at all along with fries which were piping hot.
The service was great but this was before it gets busy. It’s totally different on the weekend. The DJ was playing great music. Great crowd. I have been here several times before and have always had a great time,
I will definitely be back!!!

Here for big ten championship game… massively understaffed. Really, between msu and osu fans you thought ONE bartender at 4:00pm for the top floor was sufficient? Hire some damn bartenders

Had a groupon and went to use it having not been there before. Miserable service. Rude bouncer and waitress. The place wasn’t overly busy, but I would not return.

My experiences that contribute to this review of Taps and Dolls are based solely on the handful of times I’ve been on a weekend night that have each been driven by the alcohol-​fueled midnight need to go somewhere to dance, and in that capacity, it has delivered.
I’ve always found it to have a fun atmosphere with plenty of room to pretend like I can dance to all the most popular tunes. While there is usually a cover, the drinks are cheap and it’s pretty quick to get served at the bar. It’s loud and dark, but usually doesn’t feel too crowded as it has a decent amount of space. There are some tables to grab a seat at if you need a break, but most of the time they fill up pretty quickly. I think the inside looks pretty cool, and it even has a stage if you and your group feel the need to highlight your choreographed routine for a particular song. Essentially, it covers the basics for a place to go dance, but doesn’t really go too much past that.

Bar is usually busy later on weekdays and always on weekend. This is my local watering hole so I got to show it some love. Seriously although nothing here is scratch made the Pizza is really good and all the meats are crumbled which I love!!! Try a baked sandwich too the cheese gets all burnt and is delicious. Good drink specials through the week and something for everyone with bar, tvs, pool tables, games, dance floor, DJ, its kinda like your local pub in the heart of downtowns bar district. I can’t name how many drafts they have but I don’t think anyone has more downtown. This is a drinking bar and people will be doing shots and drinking but no one is dancing on the bar and there are usually seats available or areas to get away from the crowd if it is busy.

If Taps & Dolls is full, go up to skybar! Usually one of these two places will be rocking. There’s also a fun photobooth up on the third floor if you want a break from dancing :)

Downtown Indianapolis seems to cater to the post game crowds of the nearby stadiums /​business travelers. The area is filled with (an actual industry term) breastaurants. Hooters, Tilted Kilt, etc, you know the place.
So Taps & Dolls is a divey, sports bar, mildly terrifying ride up in an elevator sort of place with hot bartenders and cheap drinks…
But man did I have fun here.
My first stop in on my visit, I ordered a round a drinks and was asked for an alarmingly small amount of money. For one? All? All Amber confirmed. Well after that, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been — seriously, don’t remember.
It’s a divey joint with some real characters, cheap drinks, Buck Hunter and it’s open late. I’ve had some good conversations with the serves and some odd ones with some odd patrons, picked some good and bad songs on the jukebox and listened and awkwardly danced to other people’s picks as well.
The sort of place where they apologized for making the drinks a little strong, and in hindsight how we should have heeded the warning and the spot no matter where we started, seemed to end up here.

Fun place! Haven’t been in awhile. Brought back good memories.

I have to be in the right mood to enjoy this place. Usually that means that I’m looking for cheap (and low quality) booze, music and escaping cover charges. If you’re looking for a nice place to hang with friends and enjoy a nice cocktail or local brew this ain’t your place. If you’re looking to dance with some sweaty person while sipping your Bud Light, this is it.
Not knocking the place, it is what it is, but what it is is a loud bar with hit or miss music. Some nights I’ve been and really rocked out all night long (New Years Eve 2012 comes to mind), and other times I’ve sat on my butt waiting for something decent to come on.
Drink prices are reasonable, but you’re not going to get anything special here. Crappy domestics and watery well drinks are this place’s specialty.
All in all: I’ll be back maybe once a year when dragged by friends for a night of dancing

I’ve walked past this place a few times going to Crackers Comedy club and wanted to try it. It was a weekday evening around 8pm and was pretty empty except for a few people playing pool and a guy watching wrestling on one of the TVs. Our server was nice, but could’ve been a little bit more attentive. It took her 5 minutes to get my girlfriend a drink and we were sitting at the bar. The beer prices were very good, so that was a plus.
I ordered the «soon to be famous’ pizza and the only way this pizza would ever be famous is if every place serving pizza within a 300 square mile radius magically evaporated or exploded into oblivion. I couldn’t eat the crust, which for me is pretty unusual. My girlfriend got some chicken fingers and some fries and they were both definitely just frozen and heated up (although, this is sadly not uncommon for a lot of places).
The place is really pretty spacious and has a lot of things to do, a l though I didn’t do anything while I was there. It isn’t as clean as the pictures would suggest, but not unbearable (except for the bathrooms).
The big bonus I would give this place is that it is priced really well. I would not recommend the food, but if you don’t mind a less than savory environment, you could get some cheaply priced beer here (decent variety). Taps and Dolls is not for me, but I can understand its appeal to other types of people.

I’m not gonna lie, it took us a while to find this place. We had to go up a few flights of stairs before we figured out what floor to go to. I’m glad we found it because seriously, this place was COOL. I like to explore when I’m drinking so Taps and Dolls made me ecstatic. At one point we even wound up in the VIP section and hung out with complete strangers before going back to join the other patrons. There were a lot of levels and so much happening. There was one dance floor in particular that played techno which was a surprise but very satisfying. I hate the typical «Pour Some Sugar on Me» or «She’s My Cherry Pie.» Taps and Dolls was pretty great, we had an amazing time there.

I’m always at Taps. Awesome staff, good specials and a great crowd. I always take my friends to Taps and everyone always loves it.
