I went in to get a tattoo today and mind you I called around for hours yesterday but either the artists I talked to where rude or there wasn’t even a working phone… but then I got ahold of steel rod and the guy who answered was nice and helpful… turns out it was Timmie which ended up being the artist who did my tattoo. Timmie was not only funny and welcoming but he was also the most talented artist I have ever met! If you are looking for a nice and talented artist make sure you check out steel rod! I plan to get all my future tattoos done by Timmie! :) :)

I brought my wife here from California, so she could get a Colts tattoo in Indianapolis. (Yep… She’s a Colts fan.) Everyone was really nice here. They even offered to buy me some White Castle! Thank you Biggins! We are really happy with your work!

Took my wife last night for her birthday. This was the first time I have even been in a shop, abd this was her first ink. Alex was great when I stopped in and made my appointment. When we came back 2 days later, he remembered that it was her birthday, and really went out of his way to take care of us. He answered every question that we had, made good conversation, and most importantly drew a beautiful tattoo. The shop was well lit and clean, and the staff was very knowledgable and professional.
For an a couple of people that probably looked a bit out of place in terms of not having any ink or piercings when we walked in, they made us feel right at home. If i ever choose to get one, I will definitely be returning. Thanks to Alex R. for providing a great experience.

Best work I’ve had so far, and in one of the cleanest, coolest shops I’ve seen so far. It’s not in the best part of town, but it’s a great place.
Ask for Biggins. He’s an awesome artist and very professional. If you come in with a serious attitude and want to get good work done, he’ll make sure you get what you are looking forward to. That said, they’ve all got a lot of experience and great attitudes, so don’t be discouraged if he’s not available.
I will recommend these guys to anyone who lives in central Indiana.

I got two tattoos from Steel Rod in October 2010. I have seven total tattoos, and I can say that the artistry at Steel Rod is top notch. In fact, I liked everything about Steel Rod, and it was the best tattooing experience of my life. My artist, Roger, spent a lot of time making sure my design was correct and even researched the history of the piece I wanted. I will certainly take my business back to this shop.
The shop is in a seedy area… but don’t let that deter you. The shop is very professional, very, very clean, and the prices are more than fair. The inside is also very interesting, and with all of the memorabilia they have, you feel as though you’ve stepped back in time (although all of their piercing and tattooing equipment is modern). Again, the quality of their work is excellent! Give them a shot… you won’t be disappointed!
