Steak ‘n Shake

Badly managed. Manager not at all interested in dealing with overwhelmed dining room. Just talking to friends or family who came in to see her.

We always go to this steak and shake because they have the best service, never had to wait long for anything and the wait staff are always nice.

If your looking for a consistently good place to eat that’s open all hours of the day and is quick and cheap, Steak and Shake is great.
It’s always quick service and almost always accurate in the drive through. But there has been a few times our families drive through orders have been wrong. Oh well we will live eh?
PS. If your looking for a really good quick breakfast, their skillet meals are awesome and no one else has anything like it to be honest.

Just like the pictures my double steak burger was cooked perfectly and my shake was heavenly. The wait staff here seemed over the top nice.

We are staying at the Hampton across the street and walked over here for dinner at 6:30 on a Friday. It was busy so we ordered carry out. With as busy as it was, the fries were cold. We did end up coming back around 1am after our night out and I mentioned it to the manager who gave me free fresh, hot fries. Lol, too bad the hot dog I ordered was cold.

Great service! Fast and efficient! It’s also one of the cleanest Steak N’ Shake restaurants I’ve been in.

Grate service even when busy. And good food at a wonderful price. Stop in when ever you can!

I have always been a fan of Steak N Shake since I was a teenager. This, of course was no exception. We arrived for dinner around 6:30pm on a Monday night. The parking lot made it seem they were really busy, but in fact we had no wait in getting a table for two. We did have to stand by the table while they cleaned it off, but nothing major.
Our server came to our table pretty promptly and took our drink order. She returned promptly and took the rest of our order. I ordered my all time favorite, Frisco melt with an order of large cheese fries. My partner ordered the bacon lovers burger and fries. The wait for the food was a little longer than usual; but again, nothing major. While we waited our milkshakes were delivered. Mine was just fine, but my partner asked for no whip cream or cherry (the best parts, right?!) and his had both on the shake. They took it back and corrected it as soon as she realized they made a mistake.
When our food arrived, again mine was perfect, but not so much on the other. He was told that the burger came with mayonnaise and ketchup but in fact it did not have either. Also, for being a «bacon lovers» burger they were pretty skimpy on the bacon.
Our server came back about two other times to check on us before we were done with our meal. Overall I had a fine experience, but with those two minor hiccups it keeps it from getting more than three stars.

Only Average.
The guy was half a sleep at the Drive-​Thru. He messed up my order. Don’t like their fries, but all the sandwiches were great (for Steak and Shake).

Frisco Melt, I LOVE YOU!

I normally don’t go this location. Just like many other Steak N Shake locations, this place offers a diner experience with quick service and reasonable price. Their menu is pretty extensive from steakburger, fried and grilled chicken, hotdogs and variety of salad. However the food is greasy, bland and certainly fattening… My old favorite is turkey melt, which is not on their menu anymore. I like nothing else from their menu at all. I prefer their classic milkshake because their new flavor milkshakes always taste TOO sweet…
Our last experience at this particular location was not very pleasant. The waitress was not attentive. She messed up the order, did not refill the coffee or ask if we needed anything else. The guy at the check out did not even give me the receipt because the machine was broken (Well, I guess I will find out if there is any unusual charge on my next statement).
Their promotions: Steak N Shake offers ½ price drinks from 2−4pm and 2−4am during weekdays. Also Kids eat free on Saturday and Sunday. Take advantage of this special offers, otherwise you will pay too much for the quality of food and service from this place. Go to other locations in Indy area, you will find a better service. The one on 86^th street is our family’s favorite.
