Sharp’s has Olympians to its credit. And that is before they had the new building. Remember those two Indiana girls on the Beijing Olympics USA Gymnastics team. Yeah, them! They trained here. Actually an old warehouse gym before they built this new gym a little over a year ago. And when I say«they built» I mean those two Olympians did wonders for their enrollment. Must be doing something right, right? You’re right! My little daughter, although not the most coordinated kid ever, feels like a champion when she comes here. She cannot wait till it is time for gymnastics. Part of the reason is the actual experience, but for the most part, it is her instructor that makes her feel like she IS an Olympian. The instructors are patient, kind, encourage the kids to do it on their own, that they are capable! So in addition to building up their muscles, Sharp’s is building their self-esteem. Watching the little ones is fun, but to watch the older kids perform these flips and maneuvers is impressive. The more athletic ones that compete at a high level are constantly practicing and not necessarily with a coach. They are making their routines perfect and you can see the drive in them. It’s awesome to see where the kids might be if they choose to do gymnastics full time. Might be an Olympian in the making!
